6 Ways To Boost Your Self-Confidence This Winter

Winter, with its chilly winds and shorter days, often brings a sense of melancholy and introspection. It’s a season that can sometimes dampen our spirits and, subsequently, our self-confidence. However, it’s crucial to maintain a positive self-image and assurance during these colder months, allowing us to face the world with a resilient and buoyant spirit. In this article, we will explore various strategies to enhance self-confidence, focusing on practical and attainable goals.

Embrace a Healthy Lifestyle

A balanced and nutritious diet is the cornerstone of well-being. Consuming foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can significantly impact our mood and energy levels, fostering a sense of confidence. Incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into our daily meals can help in maintaining optimal health and well-being. It’s essential to stay hydrated and avoid excessive consumption of processed foods, alcohol, and caffeine, especially during the winter months when our bodies are more susceptible to illnesses.

Engaging in regular physical activity is another pivotal aspect of a healthy lifestyle. Exercise releases endorphins, the body’s natural mood lifters, which can alleviate feelings of depression and anxiety, common during the winter. Whether it’s a brisk walk in the park, a yoga session, or a workout at the gym, staying active can significantly boost one’s self-esteem and body image. It’s important to find an activity that you enjoy and make it a consistent part of your routine, aiming for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.

Cultivate a Positive Mindset

The power of positive thinking can’t be overstated. Regularly affirming one’s worth and capabilities can transform the mental landscape, fostering a more optimistic outlook. Start your day by looking in the mirror and telling yourself positive affirmations. These could be statements like, “I am capable,” or “I am worthy of respect and acceptance.” The repetition of such affirmations can rewire the brain to believe in these positive statements, eventually translating into increased self-confidence.

Gratitude is another powerful tool in cultivating a positive mindset. Regularly reflecting on and appreciating the good things in life can shift the focus from what’s lacking or negative to what’s abundant and positive. Keeping a gratitude journal and jotting down things you are thankful for daily can be a great way to start. This practice can enhance mood, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being, creating a more favourable environment for self-confidence to flourish.

Address Appearance Concerns

Taking time to maintain a well-groomed appearance can have a profound impact on self-confidence. Regular grooming, wearing clothes that make you feel good, and maintaining good posture can enhance your self-image. Addressing concerns like hair loss, which is quite common and can affect confidence levels, can also be beneficial. Exploring solutions such as Oxford Online Pharmacy’s hair loss treatments or changing hairstyles can make a significant difference in how you perceive yourself, subsequently boosting confidence.

Embracing your unique style and being comfortable in your skin is essential. It’s important to wear what makes you feel confident and happy. Experimenting with different styles and discovering what suits you best can be an exciting journey. Remember, confidence is about being content with who you are and not conforming to societal expectations or norms.

Develop New Skills

Winter is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby or learn a new skill. Whether it’s a CISMP Course, painting, cooking, or learning to play a musical instrument, acquiring new abilities can significantly boost self-esteem. It provides a sense of accomplishment and helps in breaking the monotony of daily routines. Moreover, hobbies offer an opportunity to unwind and relax, reducing stress and enhancing mental well-being.

For those who prefer a more professional approach, winter is an ideal time to enhance career-related skills. Participating in workshops, online courses, or reading books related to your field can contribute to personal development and career growth. Gaining more knowledge and becoming proficient in your field can elevate your confidence levels, making you feel more competent and prepared.

Strengthen Social Connections

Building and maintaining strong, supportive relationships can play a crucial role in boosting self-confidence. Engage in meaningful conversations with friends, family, or colleagues. Sharing experiences, thoughts, and feelings with others can provide emotional support and a sense of belonging. It’s also beneficial to be a good listener, showing empathy and understanding to others, which can strengthen bonds and improve interpersonal skills, contributing to enhanced self-esteem.

Even in the colder months, participating in social activities and community events can be invigorating. It provides opportunities to meet new people, form connections, and share common interests. Volunteering can be particularly rewarding, offering a sense of purpose and fulfilment. Being part of a community and contributing to the well-being of others can elevate mood and self-worth, creating a positive feedback loop of social engagement and increased confidence.

Set and Achieve Goals

Setting realistic and attainable goals can provide a sense of direction and purpose. Break your goals into smaller, manageable tasks and celebrate each achievement, no matter how small it may seem. This process can create a sense of accomplishment and progress, reinforcing self-belief and determination. Whether it’s related to personal development, career, or hobbies, achieving goals can instil a sense of pride and boost confidence.

Facing challenges and overcoming obstacles can be empowering. It provides an opportunity to learn, grow, and prove to oneself the ability to tackle difficulties. Embrace challenges with a positive attitude, view them as learning experiences, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Learning to cope with failures and setbacks is also crucial, as it builds resilience and enhances the ability to bounce back, fostering a stronger sense of self-confidence.

Image and dress code can be powerful tools to increase one’s self-confidence. Paying attention to our physical appearance and style can help us feel more confident as we take on new challenges. Wearing clothes that make us feel comfortable boosts our mood, while making sure our hair is nicely groomed gives us a greater sense of self-worth.

Risk taking helps us better understand our strengths and weaknesses, giving us an idea on how we can continue improving ourselves. Furthermore, taking risks also provides new experiences which in turn offer valuable lessons that help shape our development as individuals.

3) Hairstyles and Make-up:
Hairstyles and make-up are other great ways to increase self-confidence. Changing your hairstyle can help you feel more in tune with yourself, while experimenting with different makeup looks can give you the opportunity to express yourself artistically.

Many males also benefit from having a fantastic hairdo, therefore it's not just for women to wear trendy hairstyles. Although it might seem like a minor adjustment, the impact it has on your self-confidence can be huge. Don't be ashamed or frightened to take the step to look into your options and learn what's available if you find yourself in a situation where you might want to explore getting a hair transplant.

4) Exercise:
In many ways, exercising can help boost self-confidence. In addition to helping us feel better and releasing endorphins, exercise also helps the body get rid of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which can lessen anxiety.

Working out is not only beneficial for our physical health, but also our mental well-being since it increases the production of serotonin – the “happy” hormone that has been linked to feelings of contentment, satisfaction, and happiness. Regular exercise positively contributes to how we view ourselves, leading to an improvement in our overall self-esteem.

In conclusion, positive thinking can be an effective tool to help increase self-confidence. Improving your image and taking risks, experimenting with hairstyles and makeup, and exercising are all great ways to enhance your self-perception. With a bit of effort, you will soon feel capable of achieving anything that you set your mind to!

3 Ways Your Self Confidence Can Be Affected

3 Ways Your Self Confidence Can Be Affected

If you could rate your confidence on a scale of 1 to 10, where would you put yourself? In 2022 a poll of 2,000 people found 46 of those surveyed struggled with low self-confidence and self-esteem issues. If this is you, then you are not as alone as you think. Low self-confidence can have a massive impact on your mental and physical health and lead to you missing out on opportunities and experiences just because you might not feel good enough to do them or worthy of being able to participate.

Self-confidence can be affected by many different things, and knowing how to turn things around and give yourself a much-needed boost can be instrumental in turning things around and helping you work on becoming more confident day to day.

Poor Body Image
Pretty much every person has something they don't like about their body. These can vary in complexity and how much they affect their life. For example, if you hate the shape of your nose, this can affect how you interact with people and how social you are, as you might shy away from socialising. While Plastic Surgery can rectify any nasal shape issues, if you are unhappy with your body shape or weight, you can change your diet and start exercising to help you change your body to help you improve how you feel about yourself.

Negative Thinking
How you think about yourself and the words you use to describe yourself in your head and out loud will reinforce that image you have of yourself. It's all too easy to fall into the trap of putting yourself down and focusing on the parts of yourself you don't like or want to change. It's precisely the same as reading product reviews. There could be 99 glowing reviews, but you will seek out and focus on that one negative one. But you can change this. Whenever a negative thought pops into your head, replace it with a good one. Make a list of all of the things you like about yourself. It could be anything big or small. It can be something about your appearance, such as how you did your makeup that day or how you look in a particular outfit, or it can be about a positive experience you have or want to have that day. Whatever it is, store it in your memory, and when the negative thoughts creep in, replace them and push them out of your mind.

Comparing Yourself
Comparison is the thief of joy. And in an age where people are subjected to perfect images online, it can be all too easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others and their views. But remember, they will only show you what they want you to see. You won't always see the outtakes, the before shots or the messy house behind the immaculate kitchen. You are seeing a snapshot of someone's life, and you need to keep that in mind when comparing yourself to others. You are good enough; nothing on social media is always 100% real.

Confidence isn't something you can gain overnight. Taking small steps to change how you see yourself and think about yourself can make all the difference to your confidence to allow you to thrive as needed to be.

9 Ways To Boost Your Self Confidence In 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has had an adverse affect on many people around the world. We’ve all been stuck inside the same four walls for the majority of the past nine months or so, and this can greatly affect mental well being. So much so that you may have noticed a decline in your self confidence. Whether that’s due to lack of social interaction, or you’ve piled on a few pounds during lockdown, it’s time to break out of the funk! Here are some tried and tested ways of boosting your self confidence, just in time for the New Year’s resolutions!

Improve your eating habits
If your self esteem has plummeted due to weight gain, weight loss, or even blemishes on your skin, this could be down to a change in eating habits. Being stuck at home unexpectedly for long periods of time is bound to disrupt your eating habits! Take some time to look at what you’re putting into your body to identify where you’re going wrong, and make some changes! Here are some great tips on improving your eating habits:
  • Keep a food diary to look back on at the end of each week. You’ll notice where you’ve slipped up or areas you could improve, and it will also help you stay on track and focused.
  • Drink more water. Quite often we mistake thirst for hunger, and this quickly leads to overeating. When you feel hungry, drink a glass of water and wait ten minutes. You’ll find that more often than not, you were thirsty rather than hungry!
  • Listen to your body and the signals it’s giving you. Are you actually hungry, or are you thinking about food because society dictates that it’s a meal time. Learn what hunger signals your body gives out and only eat when you’re truly hungry. You should also stop eating when that feeling of hunger disappears. You may end up eating little and often, but this will also help prevent overeating.
  • Pack as many vegetables into your diet as possible. Filling up on low calorie and nutritious foods will help reduce weight gain and promote weight loss.

Treat your problematic areas
Everyone has a part of their body they dislike. Whether it’s love handles, cellulite on the thighs and bottom, or fatty deposits above the bra line, it can really get you down and in turn, cause your self esteem to spiral downwards. Exercise and clean eating will help many of these issues, but if it’s something that’s really bothering you and you’re struggling to fix it, you may consider vaser liposuction to help remove fat and reshape your body. There are many different treatments available, all targeting common problematic areas of the body, and can be a great way to boost your self confidence! If surgery isn’t something you want to do, you can buy tools to help problematic areas such as a cellulite massaging tool, or a body wrap to help sweat off some extra pounds.

Find an exercise you love
Exercise is important, yet many people fail to get even nearly the recommended amount each week, and that’s totally understandable if you’re someone who simply doesn’t enjoy it! Forcing yourself to run on a treadmill or around the park isn’t going to last or benefit you if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing. Find an exercise you love that will inspire you to keep going. Many people choose swimming as a way to target all areas of the body without feeling like they’re actually exercising. Perhaps you could attend an aqua aerobics class with a friend, or find a sport like netball to ensure you’re getting the right amount of exercise. Working out will naturally change the shape of your body, lose unwanted weight, tone up muscles and most importantly, boost your self esteem.

Take time to improve your mental health
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and if you neglect yourself mentally you will struggle to see yourself in a nice way. If you feel your mental health has suffered during lockdown, or perhaps you were struggling beforehand, take some time to improve your mental health! Your first port of call should always be your Doctor, as they can recommend treatments and give advice on where to turn, but in the meantime, you can try out these tips:
  • Write down your worries and anxieties. Sometimes writing them down can feel like a weight has been lifted.
  • Take time to treat yourself! Run a bath, pop on a face mask, light a candle and let your troubles melt away.
  • Speak to a loved one about how you’re feeling. Having someone close that you can call when you’re feeling down can really help. Here’s a great guide on how to talk to a loved one about your mental health that may help.
  • Get more sleep! Lack of sleep can trigger many mental health problems and exacerbate them. Try and get your nine hours!

Do something that makes you smile every day
With the pandemic rearing its ugly head, 2020 hasn’t been the year everyone expected it to be and for many, there hasn’t been that much to smile about. This can greatly affect your mood too! Find something that makes you smile and take the time to do it every day. Whether it’s a TV series that makes you laugh, or texting a friend that’s always got something funny to say, smiling as often as you can will help improve your overall mood.

Indulge in some new clothes
Sometimes a bout of self confidence issues come from losing your style. Perhaps you’ve fallen behind with latest trends, or simply not had the time or money to refresh your wardrobe. You might need to focus on your beauty products too, such as your perfume and make-up! These might need a switch up, such as buying a new lipstick or purchasing a pheromones perfume to really boost your confidence. Either way, treating yourself to some new clothes can make the world of difference to your self-confidence. Dress for your body shape and find yourself some new threads that you’ll be excited to show off!

Refresh your hairstyle
Much like a new outfit or shoes, refreshing your hairstyle can make you feel more confident in yourself too! If you’ve been rocking the same cut, colour and style for a while now, shake it up! Something as simple as a new colour or daring haircut will help turn heads and raise your self esteem!

Make time for yourself
If you are busy with work and a family, it’s easy to neglect yourself and do the bare minimum to keep going. Try and make more time for yourself to style your hair in the mornings, put on a little bit of makeup, and even a spritz of your favourite perfume, whether it is the one you wore on your wedding day or even a brand new bottle that you have been saving for a special occasion! Making a habit of this will leave you feeling more confident when you leave the house every day!

Be kind to yourself
It’s all too easy to look in the mirror and pick out every fault you think you have, but everyone is beautiful in their own way! Try and be kinder to yourself when you look in the mirror each morning. Pick out something that you like about yourself each day and remind yourself of that as often as you can. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you don’t love yourself, that will also show on the outside.

Losing your self confidence is horrible, but it’s totally possible to boost it back up again! The power is in your hands and with these tips, you can learn to love yourself again and become a new and improved, confident version of yourself!

5 Things You Can Do to Boost Your Confidence

We all want to feel more confident and secure in ourselves, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. Thankfully, there are many things you can do to boost your confidence in no time at all. Some can be simple daily changes that make all the difference, while as others can be a little bigger. In this blog post, we’re going to take a look at five easy tips that you can try today.

1. Set Small Goals and Celebrate Your Achievements

One of the best ways to build up your self-confidence is by setting small goals for yourself each day and then celebrating your achievements when they come. For example, if you’ve been struggling with public speaking, set a goal to give one presentation this week or next month. Once you reach that goal, celebrate by doing something special for yourself—even if it’s just taking a half hour out of your day to read a book or take a bubble bath. Celebrating small wins can help you stay motivated and remind yourself how capable you are!

3. Practice Positive Self-Talk

The way we talk about ourselves has a huge impact on our confidence levels, so it’s important to practice positive self-talk whenever possible. Instead of focusing on what could go wrong or what might not work out, try shifting the conversation towards what could go right and emphasizing the positives rather than the negatives. Take some time each day to remind yourself of all the amazing things that make you unique—after all, there’s only one you in this world!

3. Boost Your Body

Our physical health has a big impact on our mental wellbeing. If we don’t feel good physically then we won’t be able to think clearly or perform at our optimum level mentally either! Make sure that you get enough sleep each night (7-9 hours is ideal) as well as eating healthy meals and moving your body where you can. Not only that, but if you want to look into breast enlargement surgery to feel better, you should do. Even if it’s a little makeover, that could fill you with much more confidence too.

4. Make Time for Yourself

Taking some time for yourself each day is essential for boosting your confidence levels—even if it’s just 10 minutes in the morning or before bed. Spend this quality me time however works best for you. Whether it’s reading, meditating, exercising, listening to music—anything that helps you relax and recharge. This is so that when life throws curveballs at you (as it inevitably will), you have the energy and strength needed to tackle them head-on!

5. Learn Something New

Learning something new can be an incredibly powerful way to boost your self-confidence and open up new opportunities for growth and success. Whether it’s learning a new skill or language, taking up an instrument, or trying out a new hobby, challenging yourself with something new will help build your confidence as well as give you something exciting and interesting to focus on.

5 Ways You Can Build Your Confidence And Self-Esteem

If you've changed everything you wear and are still having trouble with your self-esteem, it might not have been your style that was making you feel bad about yourself. So, if you want to grow in the future and be happy with yourself as you are, keep reading for some great tips on how to boost your confidence and self-esteem.
5 Ways You Can Build Your Confidence And Self-Esteem

Dress To Impress

The first thing that many people do to boost their confidence and self-esteem is to wear clothes that make them feel good and look good. By wearing clothes you love, you'll be able to express yourself better and feel more like yourself when you're out in public. Some people struggle with their body image and choose things like breast surgery to help build their confidence. Make sure you do the research you need to and really think about your decision before you think about changing your body.

Be Happy In Your Relationships

Relationships are one of the things in people's lives that can make them feel down. Some people have trouble with the idea of being single because they require constant validation and reassurance and think that a partner can give them that. When you're single, you might start to wonder if there's something wrong with you, compare yourself to other people, or focus on what you do wrong. Then, instead of thinking that you or your looks are to blame for being single, you can boost your self-esteem by learning how to be single and happy.

Keep Track Of Your Life

Even if you are the most elegant person you know, you may have trouble with the idea that you haven't reached all of your goals yet or aren't making enough progress. Then, you should keep track of your accomplishments so that you can think about what you have done and what has gone well. You can do this by writing them down or making a scrapbook where you can write about all of your life's best moments.

Try Not To Be Shy

But even if you don't feel confident yet, acting confident can help you get rid of many of your bad feelings and trick your body into feeling confident. You can do this by telling yourself to get out there and speak up. You can also act and look confident by getting ready for things that make you nervous and working on your posture, which can make a big difference in how you look.

Take Good Care Of Your Health

But if you are having health problems, you won't be able to look stylish and sure of yourself. So, if you don't want to lose your glow, you should take care of your health as much as you can. You can do this by working out regularly and eating well. You can also help your mental health get better by taking these steps toward better health. This is because when you exercise, your body releases endorphins, and when you eat well, your body gets the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy.

The advantages of private orthodontic treatment: Investing in your smile

Properly aligned teeth are essential for a beautiful smile since they improve self-esteem and dental health at the same time. Private orthodontic treatment is a standout option for anyone who is looking for a life-changing path towards a straight and confident smile. In this article we will highlight the various benefits of private orthodontic treatment as well as pointing out things to look for when choosing your Orthodontist.
The advantages of private orthodontic treatment: Investing in your smile

Section 1: The Personalized Approach to Orthodontic Care

Customised treatment plans
Private orthodontic clinics prioritise customised treatment plans that address each patient's unique needs which go above and beyond the usual procedures of NHS Orthodontists. This individualised method starts with a comprehensive examination which takes into account the jaw anatomy, general face aesthetics, and teeth alignment.

Orthodontists working in private practices use technologies such as C-Fast Braces,  computer simulations and 3D imaging which help to develop exact treatment plans. This degree of detail guarantees that the treatment plan selected takes into account individual issues and is customised to the unique anatomy of every patient.

Access to advanced technology
Private orthodontic clinics make major investments in state-of-the-art technology. This dedication improves the orthodontic experience as a whole and increases its effectiveness, efficiency, and comfort. Invisible aligners, digital impressions, and accelerated orthodontics are a few of the cutting-edge techniques used to get the best outcomes.

The use of digital impressions eliminates the discomfort associated with traditional moulds, this provides more of a pleasant experience for patients. Adults in particular have become more interested in invisible aligners as they are a discrete alternative to traditional braces and enable people to straighten their teeth without sacrificing their appearance.

Enhanced aesthetic options
The wide range of cosmetic alternatives offered is one of the main benefits of receiving orthodontic treatment privately. Private practitioners provide clear braces, lingual braces, and invisible aligners as alternatives to traditional metal braces, which are still an effective option. Patients are empowered to select a course of treatment based on their aesthetic choices, lifestyle, and professional needs thanks to this wide range of options.

Understanding the value of aesthetics extends beyond appearances; it also acknowledges the significant impact that a positive self-image can have on overall well-being. Private orthodontic practices are aware of this and work to treat patients' oral problems while also enhancing their self-esteem and confidence.

Facial Aesthetics
Private practice orthodontists are educated to assess the connection between tooth location, jaw alignment, and facial features. This comprehensive method guarantees that the finished product will balance and look beautiful by improving the smile and harmonising with the entire face structure.

Section 2: Time Efficiency and Convenience

Quick care

Private orthodontic practices understand the value of time as a valuable resource in their patients' lives. In order to complete treatments more quickly, several of these practices use rapid orthodontic techniques. Private orthodontists can shorten the length of orthodontic treatment by using cutting-edge materials and technologies that encourage quicker tooth movement.

The goal of accelerated orthodontics is to provide results as soon as possible without sacrificing the outcome's quality. Patients with set timetables or events coming up can find this technique particularly appealing as they can benefit from a beautifully aligned smile in a shorter amount of time.

Flexible scheduling
Since everyone has different and busy schedules, private orthodontic practices put their patients' convenience first. In comparison to public clinics, this frequently translates into more flexible scheduling possibilities. Patients' busy schedules can be smoothly merged with the orthodontic journey by providing weekend slots and the capacity to schedule appointments outside of typical work hours.

Parents who are juggling a lot of responsibilities, students, and working professionals can especially benefit from this flexibility. One way to enhance the patient experience and lessen the stress associated with orthodontic care is to make appointments at times that work for the patient's schedule.

Comprehensive care in one place
The ease with which all services can be found in one place spares patients of the burden of travelling to several facilities for various components of their orthodontic journey. In addition to saving time, this coordinated approach guarantees a smooth experience from the first consultation to the very last.

Section 3: Emotional Well-Being and Confidence Boost

The advantages of private orthodontic treatment: Investing in your smile

Psychological Impact of a Beautiful Smile

Private practitioners understand the enormous psychological impact that a beautiful smile may have on an individual's well-being, in addition to the technical components of orthodontic treatment. A confident smile reflects inner self-assurance and is more than just an outward display. Fostering this confidence is a top priority for private orthodontic treatment, with results that satisfy clinical requirements as well as the patient's subjective ideal of a smile.

Individualised Patient Education:
Private orthodontic practices take the time to inform their patients on the course of treatment allowing them to take an active part in their orthodontic journey. Orthodontists spend time explaining each stage of the procedure as well as any possible difficulties. This individualised education makes sure that everyone is aware of and involved in the procedure.

Long term benefits for oral health
While the aesthetic benefits of private orthodontic treatment are evident it's essential to highlight the long-term oral health advantages. Teeth that are in proper alignment are less likely to develop cavities, gum disease, and abnormal wear because they are simpler to clean and preserve. In addition to improving the appearance of a person's smile, private orthodontic treatment prolongs the life and general health of their teeth.

Section 4: Choosing the Right Private Orthodontist

Selecting the appropriate orthodontic specialist is the first step towards achieving a brilliant smile. These are important factors to think about in order to make an informed choice:

Experience
Verify that the orthodontist is a certified specialist with the required licences and qualifications. Ask them about their experience with situations that are comparable to yours as well.

Technological Advancements
Seek out a private orthodontic office that uses modern technology. Modern therapy techniques and cutting-edge equipment demonstrate a dedication to provide top-notch care.

Patient reviews and testimonials
Examine patient testimonials and reviews to learn about other people's experiences. Positive evaluations of individualised attention, effective care, and fulfilling outcomes are indicative of a respectable orthodontic office.

Treatment Plans
Take into consideration the orthodontist's variety of cosmetic options. Patient-focused care is demonstrated by a practice that offers a variety of treatment plans customised to each patient's needs.

Consultations and communication
Make an appointment to evaluate the orthodontist's accessibility and communication style. Many Private Orthodontic clinics offer free orthodontic consultations.

In summary, private orthodontic treatment offers a dedication to individualised, effective, and convenient care in addition to straight teeth. Beyond clinical quality, there are other benefits such as personalised planning, cutting-edge technology, flexible scheduling, and enhanced mental health.

Considering the enormous psychological impact of a captivating smile, the goal of private orthodontic care is to satisfy clinical standards, align with the patient's vision, and foster confidence during the process. Choosing an orthodontist wisely is an investment in the long-term, contributing to a brilliant smile, confidence, and overall health.

The Health Benefits to Your Mani/Pedi

How amazing is the feeling of getting a manicure and a pedicure when you need a little self-care? It feels like being able to relax, to feel pretty and to feel like you are in control of something. In a world so full of fear and anxiety, being able to take an hour or two to allow someone else to take care of you can feel unreal; as if it’s not something you could have ever dreamed of. And yet, did you know that your mani pedi session can do so much more for you than make you look pretty?

Most people view their appointment with a nail tech as a way to have professional looking nails, but it’s also the first thing to be cut from the budget when times are tough. Right now, it feels like times are always tough, so you won’t opt to pay for the HEMA Free Builder Gel or the additional spa package that often comes with a pedicure. You might even feel too guilty to pay for it in the end. Either way, you need to think about why you should KEEP your mani pedi in your budget. We’re here to tell you that it’s perfectly fine to indulge a little if you can’t indulge a lot. You should remember that both manicures and pedicures come with health benefits. Don't believe us? Let’s dive into the benefits of both.

  1. You’ll have smoother skin. You know that one of the most comfortable things to have is smooth, comfortable and hydrated skin. The first benefit of getting your nails done - hands or feet - is the benefit of smooth, healthy and rejuvenated skin. Hands are always being worked and often, worked far too hard. You need to have your skin looked after and any reputable nail tech will take care of more than just your nails. They’ll be looking to hydrate your feet and hands, ensuring that the skin is effectively cleaned. They will remove all of that dirt and grime build up on your hands and the same can be said for your feet. No reputable nail salon is going to focus on the nails and nothing else; they will ensure that your hands and feet feel healthy and well cared for, too.

  2. Leveling out your feet. Did you know that a pedicure can balance your weight better? The pedicure you love will help you to level out the surface of your feet and help you to distribute your weight more evenly. This will reduce the risk of wear and tear on joints and decrease the likelihood of accidents and reduce the health impacts on your spine and any headaches. In other words, your pedicure is going to help you to correct your posture and get your feet leveled by a nail technician or increase your chances of being healthier.

  3. You will improve your blood circulation. When you go and get your nails done, your technician gives you a massage. This massage will help you to do more than just relax. They are there to help to promote healthy blood flow. This is necessary all year round. An increase in blood circulation can help your body to distribute heat during the colder seasons, and it's going to make you feel more energized and awake. Increased blood flow can also help to reduce any pain that you may be feeling in your hands, feet and legs, which can make a very big difference to your overall mental and physical health. It's also fantastic for your heart. If being at the nail salon is going to be a good thing for your cardiovascular system, then surely you should be booking your appointment yesterday. You don't have to allow your body to become a dumpster, and if you know that the blood is pumping better, you're going to get rid of the waste out of your body and look good for it at the same time.

  4. You're going to be able to prevent infections. With the help of a mani pedi, you will be able to prevent infections and make yourself feel so much better.Fungal infections happen to thrive in dark, damp spaces, which often ends up being your shoes. As you're constantly exposing your feet to moisture, it's very easy to develop fungal infections on your toenails. Nail technicians are very familiar with feet, therefore they will be able to ensure that they spot any infections in the beginning stages before they spread. Going for regular pedicures can ensure that you don't end up susceptible to any further issues.

  5. Say goodbye to Calluses. Calluses on your feet are caused by repeated pressure. They have the potential to become very painful, and they can be removed by your nail technician if they know what they're doing. Nail technicians can also help you to prevent getting calluses because they'll scrub off the dead skin cells on your feet, so you don't need to worry about having dry and flaky feet anymore.

  1. You are going to feel far more productive. Just going to get the manicure yourself. Ensures that you are taking time out to do something that's just for you. Don't think of it as keeping you from doing the important tasks, but giving you time to sit down and relax and take a breath. Taking a break, even if it is just to get your pedicure done, is known to increase and improve productivity. This means that you're allowing your mind to refresh. Think about the way that your computer acts once it's booted up after a long time. That’s like your brain. Keeping yourself and your mind busy at all times can result in a decrease in your attentional resources. You don't want to be decreasing your focal capacity, so make sure you're taking breaks.

  2. You will ease any anxiety. When you are forced to spend time away from your phone and your screen, you end up disconnecting. Getting your nails done means that you can't sit and scroll on your phone. Being present and away from your phone gives us a moment to relax and clear your mind. It's a very small way to improve your mental health, your attention and allow your brain to release that melatonin at night to help you sleep. The more time you spend away from your phone doing activities such as mani pedis, the less time that you are building up your anxiety.

  3. It's a stress reliever. The massages that you get during a mani pedis are going to help your blood circulation, but that's not all. Massages can help you to destress and relax. The fact that your hands are completely occupied and you're disconnected from your phone gives you a moment to be present and enjoy your massage properly. Getting your nails done is your time, and being able to destress yourself is going to give you a clearer mind from all of the tasks that you have to do.

  4. You can improve your confidence. Let's be honest, the aesthetics of getting your nails done is a great way to improve your confidence. Mani pedis are a great advantage of self-expression and you get to choose the colors and the designs that you want as well as the length and the shape of your nails. The choices that you have when it comes to nail customisation are huge and you can give off a sense of style and personality as a result. Expressing yourself through your nails can also help you with matching your clothing. For example, if you love to have dark red nails, having a power suit while you wear those nails in that colour can really help you to feel more confident. The best part is that your hands are nothing to be self-conscious about because your nail technician has made them soft, giving you that fresh coat of Polish and removing any hangnails or imperfections. Any presentations you do at work and every hand you shake are going to see these nails looking beautiful.

  5. Improving your self esteem. Sometimes it's not easy to practice self-care, however, doing so is a great way to improve your self esteem because you're going to be investing time and money in yourself for a change. When you invest in yourself, you also send yourself a positive message that you matter. You are worth the cost and that's going to leave you feeling out of Queen. Nice nails also lead to compliments from others which can also increase your self esteem and make you feel good. Why wouldn't you want to feel good?

The health, both physical and mental benefits of a mani pedi are going to last you for a long time. It forces you to take that step back and often that's something we forget to do in the fast-paced world that we're living in today. You never had your nails done before then maybe it's time you go and get your appointment booked now.

Amoorra - The Original Bath Bomb for the Shower

I absolutely love a good bath bomb, there is nothing quite like a bath full of brightly coloured water which smells as insane as it looks, but not everyone has a bath, so there must be something to use in the shower? Well Amoorra, a brand I spotted in my local Holland and Barrett grabbed my attention.
Amoorra - The Original Bath Bomb for the Shower
Amoorra - The Original Bath Bomb for the Shower
Describing themselves as “The Original Bath Bomb For The Shower” Amoorra Shower Bombs are 100% natural, and claim to transform your shower into a spa-like experience... harnessing the powerful therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy. Well that was a good enough description for me to make a purchase and I bought three - Breathe, Calm and Peace and the other three options are Sleep, Refresh and Awaken. So what does each one do?

Amoorra Shower Bomb Breathe is said to be ideal for those days when you have a blocked, stuffy nose and are feeling just meh. The tablet becomes activated by steam which is released from your shower when the hot water runs. The Shower Bomb Breathe releases a eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint infused aroma which helps to clear a stuffy nose and help to breathe easy.

This has so far been my favourite of the three shower bombs that I have tried, the scent is almost instantaneous as it comes into contact with the water vapour and it certainly does help to clear those sinuses - detail of which I won’t go into. The use of peppermint, which is the fairly potent works really well with the Rosemary and Eucalyptus.

Then we have the Amoorra shower bomb in Calm. This is a tablet that has been infused with chamomile, clove and cardamom all of which are know for their properties which promote calming and warming, which in turn creates an aroma to help enrich the mind.

With this one, the hint of Cardamom is most definitely present and it is slightly held back by the clove which is also fairly dominant a scent. However, as the vapour and table come into content and it settles, the chamomile eventually comes through and it is a really lovely scent.

Finally we have Peace and this shower bomb uses Rose & Jasmine which together I absolutely adore. Said to have been perfectly blended to help boost your self-esteem, self confidence as well as helping to lower anxiety. We then have Musk which helps to stimulate circulation and sharpens the senses for mood boosting properties.

Rose is the dominant scent within this shower bomb and again once the steam from the shower is flowing, there is a hint of Jasmine but I don’t smell musk. I can’t help but I do like the scent of this as I adore both Rose and Jasmine together.

Using these shower bombs is really easy and thankfully Amoorra offer up some advice on how to get the nest experience from their product.
  • Firstly you need to run your shower to your usual desired temperature. The hotter your shower is and more closed-in, the more steam will be produced and the more you will get from your experience
  • Make sure you take the time to enjoy the Shower Bomb and the scent it has to offer, breathing in the aroma. For me, I always use it before washing, just so the aroma isn’t mixed with my body scrub or shampoo.
So when it comes to actually using the Shower Bomb take the tablet out of the tin, which Breathe comes packaged in, the other two are in small sealed plastic bags, then place on the shower floor, but it needs to be out of the direct flow of the shower – off to the side or corner is best, then as the hot water comes into contact with it, the scent mixes with the vapour/steam and fills your bathroom.
Amoorra - The Original Bath Bomb for the Shower
These Amoorra Shower Bombs are priced at just £2.99 each and depending on how long you stand in the shower for, you get more than one use out of each product.  I have used them all daily for the past few weeks and each one has been used 3 times and they still have at least another use out of them - absolute value for money.
