Disciple Skincare Discovery Kit

I have already shared by love for Clean & Serene by Disciple, a skin care brand which is fairly new to me, but gosh has it made quite the impression. Today it is the turn of the Disciple Discovery Kit and if there is one set of products you need to try - this is it!
Disciple Discovery Kit
Disciple, as a brand was created for stresses-out skin by Charlotte Ferguson, a psychotherapist who used her fountain of skin knowledge. As a brand, Disciple, is described as being perfect for addressing inflammatory skin issues such as blemishes, eczema and premature ageing. The products are so good that they hand-blended in small batches from the best raw botanical ingredients, these adaptogen-rich formulas work not only on the surface of the skin but internally too, improving your body’s ability to adapt to stress and helping to rebalance hormones.

So, the Discovery Kit is a day and night oil duo which is designed for those who are struggling with tricky, stressed-out skin.
Disciple Discovery Kit
Starting with the Day Oil which is called Good Skin, it is described as being a 100% active botanical face oil. It is formulated for those who are prone to break-outs and this oil is rich in essential fatty acids as well as hormone balancing essential oils and bad bacteria fighting prebiotics. So, you will find:
  • Grapeseed oil a lightweight and nourishing which helps to restore moisture, smooth the skin’s surface, boost radiance and improve skin elasticity.
  • Turmeric oil which helps to speed up the healing process as well as to take out redness antibacterial
  • Geranium oil, for its antibacterial properties, works to balance rogue hormones naturally.
  • Burdock Root, the prebiotic which gives the good bacteria on the skins surface a boost, helping it to fight break-out causing bacteria and sooth inflammation.
On the skin, this oil is really light and you only need 3-4 drops to be applied, in a patting motion to the skin after cleansing. From its ingredients, this oil is the one which helps to clear, brighten and nourish tricky skin.
Disciple Discovery Kit
Disciple Discovery KitThe second oil is Dreamy Skin Night Oil and it is described as being "pretty much everything you need in a night oil, this powerhouse treatment helps regenerate skin cells while you sleep" - think reducing pigmentation, pore size, fine lines and boosting firmness, which ticks a lot of boxes.

Again, really light in its texture, this oil is full of ingredients which have been chosen because they do help to regenerate your skin as you sleep.  So within the formula, you will find:
  • Rosehip seed oil which is packed with potent essential fatty acids to help improve the skin's texture and elasticity.
  • Retinyl  which is a pure form of vitamin A and has the ability to penetrate the outer layers of the skin and work to repair the lower layers where collagen and elastin live.
  • Frankincense, Blue Chamomile and Jasmine essential oils which help to reduce inflammation, relieve stress and balance hormones.
  • Burdock Root which is also found in the Good Skin Oil above. Its job is to give the good bacteria on the skins surface a boost and helps to fight break-out causing bacteria and free-radicals.
As with the Good Skin oil, this one should also be applied to freshly cleansed skin though it can be used on top of serums, in place of or under your moisturiser, depending on your skin's needs.

Both oils are vegan and cruelty free and this Disciple Discovery Kit can be found priced between £12-£17 from Cult Beauty, Disciple, Boots, John Lewis and Lookfantastic to name just a few.

Lush Skin Drink Moisturiser

If ever there was a great name for a facial moisturiser, then Lush has definitely grabbed it with this one. Meet Skin Drink, the self-preserving moisturiser which is new to the collection.
Lush Skin Drink Moisturiser

Lush Skin Drink Moisturiser
This moisturising cream is described as being perfect for those with skin that feels tight and in need of hydration.

Packaged in the tell-tale black Lush tub, inside is a cream which has a beige colour to it, but the texture is just so light, is stops short of being a serum. Designed to be used all over the face and neck, coming from Lush, it is of course packed with nourishing ingredients like rose petal infusion, fresh avocado and aloe vera extract, each one of these ingredients to moisturize your skin and keep it feeling soft and supple, regardless of the season.

Ingredients

  • Sesame Oil for its nourishing properties
  • Avocado nourishes and moisturise
  • Rose petal tones and soothe
  • Cocoa butter deeply hydrates
  • Almond Oil for its ability to condition and moisturise
Added to those main ingredients there is also the inclusion of Evening primrose, neroli and rose oils and they all come together to improve the skin’s texture and leave you with a lovely healthy looking glow.

What I have loved about this cream is how it made my skin feel when it was applied, it felt instantly cooling and soothing, especially as I kept it in the fridge during those hot few days last week. You only need a small about to dab onto your skin and leave it to work it’s magic.

If you are a fan of Lush, you will be delighted to know there is to be an Advent Calendar again this year and here is all the details!

Aldi Lacura Microblade Effect Pen

The Aldi Lacura Microblade Effect Pen is oddly not the product I’ve seen people raving about, yet I have absolutely loved using it. I have already shared the Translucent Powder Dupe, some of Aldi’s newest fragrance launches and of course that version of the Bobbi Brown Primer.
Aldi Lacura Microblade Effect Pen
As you can see, the inspiration has very much come from the Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Brow Pen, though ALDI is not the only brand to have been inspired - think Ciate, Lottie London and of course Revolution too.

The packaging might look similar to Benefit Cosmetics, though it is a much lighter shade of pink for the box with grey rather than silver. The biggest difference, as always is the price. From Aldi, the price is just £2.99, from Benefit you will be spending £20 more!
Aldi Lacura Microblade Effect Pen
The Aldi Lacura Microblade Effect Pen is available in four shades and I have the shade medium brown which I can get to work with my own brows. Described as being waterproof and smudge proof, once applied it is said to give you the micro bladed effect which lasts for 24 hours - personally I never wear makeup for that long, so how true that claim is I don’t know.

With its clever micro tip, the pen is designed to help create ultra fine brows with ease lending the look of pro micro blading. The liquid brow-liner pen is made with a slanted, three-pronged tip which helps to mimic hair-like strokes and redefine the shape of your arches, or if you have gaps, the fill them in to create that fuller brow. As with other brands, you can also flip the pen on to its side to elongate the tail of your brow!

It did take me a good few goes to get to grips with using this pen, the first attempt I might have well have just used a sharpie pen, come the third and fourth attempt, much better!

As you can see from the swatches, the lines are really fine when drawn and the harder your press, the deeper the brown colouring gets and once I have finished with my spoolie you comb through, my brows look less-over-tweezed-as-a-teen to something a little more respectable.

For me, this is one to look out this coming week in your local Aldi Store and that glorious middle eye - especially because it is just £2.99!
