Kevin Murphy Touchable Spray Wax

I am not lucky enough to be able to nip off down to the hair salon to have my hair blow-dried before a big event or just because I want a treat, but if I ever won the lottery, you would probably find me constantly doing exactly this. I do look after my hair, though I don’t have it trimmed a regularly as my local salon would like (I’m 8 months late for example) but I do wash and condition it, I do use a hair mask and I do use heat protection products.

What I don’t like using on my hair are products that style it to a crisp - think mousse, hair spray, some finish sprays, gels and waxes. If I’ve taken the time to style my hair be it working with my natural curls or with my beloved GHD irons, then I want a finish to look natural, like I’ve just stepped out of a salon not covered my hair in gunk for which I will be sorry days later when I am still washing it all out. Not too long ago, I was kindly sent the Kevin Murphy Touchable Spray Wax to try. 

Described as being a workable and lightweight spray wax finishing hairspray. Touchable works to maintain not just texture and hold but to also reinforce the appearance of separation. I have never used a product like this before, it is as lightweight as a finishing spray but has the hold of a hairspray call without weighing down your hair and without being sticky or drying to a crisp.

There is no horrid chemical scent to this spray wax, what I like about Untouchable is that it is enriched with hibiscus flower extract for its conditioning properties, milk thistle for its well known antioxidant strengths, sea lavender to increase hydration and carrot seed oil for its beautiful natural scent and satin sheen finish. As you can see, Kevin Murphy has developed a product which gives you the ability to style and hold your hair whether it is poker straight or imperfectly messy whilst at the same time giving you something that works as soon as skincare, but for your hair. 

I’ve used this spray a lot more than I had originally intended too. It just so happens that when I’ve needed to make the effort with my hair, Mother Nature has decided to either open the heavens and literally give me a downpour to contend with, or it has blown an absolute gale which would usually see me rendering the “through a hedge backwards” look.

Directions For Use

Shake well before each use. Apply to dry hair as desired as a finishing spray and leave. It is perfect for all hair types, colours and textures and washes out as easily as it applies, with no white residue or sticky feeling afterwards.

Shea Moisture Daily Hydration Body Wash and Lotion

Coconut is one of my absolute favourite smells (aside from Jasmine) and within a beauty product, I am a huge fan of how it leaves my skin, especially as a body product. From SheaMoisture, I have just finished using these two huge bottles of Body Wash and Body Lotion and they are brilliant, as well as being great value for money.

With the most wonderful brand history, Sofi Tucker started selling Shea Nuts at the village market in Bonthe, Sierra Leone in 1912. By age 19, the widowed mother of four was selling Shea Butter, African Black Soap and her homemade hair and skin preparations all over the countryside. Sofi Tucker was our Grandmother and SheaMoisture is her legacy.

The SheaMoisture Body Wash (£10.99) is absolute heaven in a bottle and it is very rare you find a product that you enjoy using as much as when you first open it to that very last drop, which is exactly what I did with this.

Using what SheaMoisture refer to as the best parts of the coconut which helps to leave the skin soft, nourished and luxuriously clean. Alongside it, you will also find Exotic Acacia Senegal, which I am told is great for inflammation and redness, is mixed with a luxurious blend of 100% Virgin Coconut Oil and Coconut Milk to moisturise as it gently cleanses. As well as using this as a body wash, you can also add a capful to your bath and if you are a fan of bubbles, then this will tick a box for you because it creates copious amounts of bubbles to lie back in and relax.

When it comes to using a body lotion, I have said on more than one occasion that I am lazy, I find the application such a chore unless it comes in a spray or a spritz, but and it is a big but, if I like the product then the chances are I will use it.

This Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Body Lotion (£10.99) is described as being an indulgent body lotion which provides everyday hydration for all skin types, even skin that only requires a drop of moisture.

On the skin, it is really lightweight, despite looking as though it would be quite thick and gloopy. Once applied, what I really like is just how quickly it absorbs into the skin. It uses exotic Acacia Senegal with all the best parts of the Coconut and this means that as the body lotion melts effortlessly into skin to not only does it leave it feeling really hydrated, it does so any greasy residue – one of my bugbears when it comes to body lotions.

Both of these products smell absolutely delightful and if you are a fan of the scent of coconut then you will love these two which naturally work amazing as a pair but are equally as good on their own.

Evolve Beauty Climate Veil Tinted SPF20

I am a huge huge fan of Evolve Organic Beauty and if you read my blog regularly then you will have seen me rave about products such as the Radiant Glow Mask and the Lip Shine.  Today I am back with another product I am obsessed with and that is the Climate Veil Tinted
SPF20 (£28.00 here) and I have the shade Light-Medium.

Climate Veil is described as being perfect for all skin types, it is Vegan, 99% Natural and 42% Organic and what it does is embrace both skincare and suncare in one bottle to not only protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays. We all love a bit of sunshine, it makes us all feel happy but even in the winter, we need to be protecting our skin and this is when products such as this tick all the boxes for me when I want a no-makeup day.

As well as providing protection, this veil in incredible lightweight on the skin, so much so it feels like a serum. Beautifully tinted with light reflecting mineral pigments it leaves skin with a luminous, dewy glow. If you are familiar with Evolve Beauty products, then you will be aware that they always have key ingredients and Climate Veil is no different, so we have:

• Reef Safe Zinc Oxide: non-nano mineral based zinc oxide delivers an SPF protection of 20.
• Natural Pigments: mineral based pigments add a gorgeous tint of colour for a healthy looking complexion.
• Lingonberry Stem Cells: help prevent skin damage by protecting against the damaging effects of sun radiation. This powerful ingredient decreases skin irritation, reduces the appearance of age spots and improves skin firmness.
• Cacay Oil: packed with bio retinol and linoleic acid it supports the skin barrier by locking in moisture.
• Hyaluronic Acid: renowned for it’s ability to increase collagen production it plumps out fine lines and wrinkles leaving the skin appear plump and glowy.

When I first did a swatch test on my hand, I was expecting it to be far too dark for my almost translucent skin tone.  As you can see from the swatch below, which is unedited, it does look pretty dark.

Once the lotion has been massaged into the skin, rather than leave an orange or yellow tint to the skin, what I have found is that it gives a really natural-looking tint which does give that dewy look. It isn't drying or greasy and neither is it tacky when applied. 

I have combination oily skin which usually starts to shine mid-afternoon, so I love that I can re-apply this Veil without the worry of looking orange. Absolutely the product you can wear every single day of the year come rain, shine or snow.
