Lacura Peptide Lip Treatment - Rhode Dupe?

A product that adorns my social media feed is the Rhode's skin peptide lip treatment which has been a viral hit for years, and well as the title might suggest, Aldi has a product that might have been inspired by that product with their Lacura peptide lip treatment.
Lacura Peptide Lip Treatment - Rhode Dupe?
Priced at just £2.99 you could argue that it has been designed to rival Rhode's popular version, albeit it almost £15 cheaper. With its sleek grey design it does share some similarities with Rhode, both equally stylish and practical, and both feature 10ml of product making it the perfect size to fit in any bag or even a trouser pocket.

The applicator helpfully features a classic angled tip, making it easy to apply just like you would with a traditional lipstick.
Lacura Peptide Lip Treatment - Rhode Dupe?
From the ingredients I noticed in Rhode’s formula, Lacura’s peptide treatment includes the same shea butter, vitamin E-rich babassu oil, but rather than the one peptide, the Lacura version features two types of peptides. Both products feature 'palmitoyl tripeptide-1', which helps support and repair the skin, but Lacura adds 'palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7', which works to prevent collagen loss and stop signs of ageing.

Coat your lips with a layer of moisture with this Peptide Lip Treatment. With a combination of peptides, shea butter, capuacu butter and babassu, your lips will look softer and full with a super glossy finish. Whether on top of bare lips or over the top of your favourite lipstick or liner for a much-needed moisture boost, this lip balm is a makeup bag essential.

From Lacura, the peptide Lip Treatment is available in three options - Unscented, Watermelon and Salted Caramel whereas Rhode features one extra offering with Vanilla.

Whilst I am yet to try the Rhodes Peptide Lip Treatment, I have got the three Aldi Lacura ones and what I love about them is that each one feels nourishing without being heavy, and when paired with a matte lipstick, they add a lovely glossy shine.  Of the three, the Unscented option is perfect for those who just don't enjoy scented lip products, which would usually be my preference, but the Salted Caramel version smells delightful, very much how you expect a salted caramel latte would smell if I am to compare.  Then there is the Watermelon which smells like a sweet freshly cut watermelon and not at all synthetic.

Given the price of under £3, I can say that all three of these are wonderful to use, a non-sticky or tacky formula with no unpleasant aftertastes or artificial smells, making them a great alternative.

Avon Nourishing Lip Oils SPF12

Lip Oils have exploded across the beauty scene and not only do they come in from the high end brands, but also from those on the high street and today, I am sharing two from Avon.
Avon Nourishing Lip Oils SPF12
Lip Oils are often used as an alternative to lip balm and are designed to moisturise and nourish the lips. It typically contains a combination of oils, such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, or argan oil, to help hydrate and soften the lips while providing a glossy finish.

Avon offers two lips oils in the Avon True Nourishing Lip Oils priced at just £7 each (currently on offer for £5) and they are Blossom and Shimmering Petal. I really love the packaging, the clear see through tubes with copper lids clearly showing the shade of each lip oil as well as the doe foot applicator, shaped to make the addition to your lips easy.

Starting with Blossom which is a bright, vivid pink but when applied to the lips, as it is an oil, it just adds a sheer pop of colour making it perfect for use on its own or over your favourite lipstick.
Avon Nourishing Lip Oils SPF12
The formula of the lip oil is one that feels more like a gel than an oil, though it is neither greasy or tacky. In order to take care of you lips, the oil uses the likes of jojoba, avocado and coconut oil as well as vitamin E. I really like using this lip oil and it’s perfect for every day use.

The second lip oil is Shimmering Petal and it is a much lighter shade of pink but within the formula, you can see tiny flecks of silver glitter running through it.
Avon Nourishing Lip Oils SPF12
Again the formula is exactly the same as Blossom with the inclusion of jojoba, avocado and coconut oil and vitamin E and as before, on the lips that same gel like texture which isn’t sticky or tacky and despite the flecks of silver, it is delightful to wear either on its own or over a lipstick, with the flecks offering a bit of sparkle.

Both Lip Oils also offer SPF12 making them even better for your lips. On offer for just £5 they absolutely should be purchased and tried, it’s a great way to find out whether a lip oil is for you or not.

5 Reasons You Should Use CBD Lip Balm This Winter

Let's face it - the winter weather can seriously dry out your skin. No doubt you will have been reaching for the moisturiser recently, but it's not just your skin that needs some TLC. Your lips can also become dry, chapped and sore during winter. This is where CBD lip balm can save the day! Let this article be your guide to CBD lip balm, plus we also list five of the main reasons why you should add it to your beauty routine today.

What is CBD?

So, what is CBD? This is a commonly asked question among CBD newbies out there. CBD is short for cannabidiol, and it is a cannabinoid that comes from the cannabis plant. CBD isn't a psychoactive compound, meaning it can't cause any feelings of intoxication. The main psychoactive cannabinoid from the plant is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD infused products can only contain trace amounts of this cannabinoid as it's the compound responsible for causing some people to feel 'high'.

To make any CBD product, the cannabinoid first needs to be extracted from the plant and then diluted with a carrier oil. This carrier oil could be hemp seed, coconut or avocado oil, but there are plenty of other options open to CBD manufacturers. The CBD market has plenty of options to choose from in terms of products. For example, CBD gummies - https://alphagreen.io/collections/cbd-gummies.html. lotions, oils, tinctures and more.

There are many potential positive effects from using CBD, such as helping to promote a sense of calm and peace, helping support your recovery routine from exercise or using it as part of your self-care routine and more.

What is CBD Lip Balm?

Put simply, CBD lip balm is a lip balm that's been infused with CBD! This means that it is a form of topical CBD, as it is applied to your skin as opposed to being ingested. When it comes to choosing a decent CBD infused lip balm, there are a few things you need to pay attention to.

Consider what spectrum of CBD you wish to purchase. There's CBD isolate, which is pure CBD, broad-spectrum that contains all the naturally occurring compounds minus THC and full-spectrum, which also contains all of the naturally occurring compounds from the hemp plant, including trace amounts of THC. The last two types of CBD appeal to people who wish to access the entourage effect – the theory that CBD works better alongside the other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. On the other hand, some CBD users prefer the purity that CBD isolate can offer them. You should also consider choosing trusted brands that can produce COAs and who engage in third-party lab testing.

Once you've made your purchase, it's time to use your CBD lip balm! Just use it as you would any other lip balm product and smooth it over your lips. However, make sure you read the instructions for the specific balm you have purchased.

Why Use CBD Lip Balm?

The Simplicity

CBD lip balm is arguably one of the easiest ways to add CBD to your lifestyle. All you have to do is place the product over your lips, and you're good to go! This is ideal for CBD beginners as it's a way of seamlessly adding CBD to your life with no stress or effort. If you enjoy a beauty or self-care routine, then CBD lip balm can make a great addition to it.

Easily Transportable

One of the main downsides to CBD oil (one of the most popular ways of consuming CBD) is that it's not easily transportable. This means that it's difficult to consume in public spaces, plus it may attract unwanted attention or questions from strangers. The same goes for other popular CBD methods, such as vaping and tinctures. CBD lip balm is super easy to simply pop in your pocket or bag, and it will attract no inquisitive looks from people while you are out and about.

Hydrating and Softening

CBD lip balms can help to keep your lips hydrated and happy. This is because extra ingredients will be included in CBD lips balms which can work together with CBD to help promote hydration. This can include vitamins, antioxidants, beeswax and more. You can also help to keep your lips hydrated by drinking plenty of water, consuming a healthy and balanced diet and generally living a healthy lifestyle.

An All-Natural Solution

CBD is an all-natural product, and therefore choosing a CBD lip balm can help to enhance your beauty routine naturally. It also means that the product is likely to be vegan and vegetarian. Make sure that you check out the ingredients of a product before you make a purchase. This will allow you to determine if a product is going to be suitable for your needs.

Antioxidant Properties

Using a CBD lip balm may help to protect your lips due to antioxidants. You see, CBD contains omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. This means that it may be able to help support the health of your lips. There will also likely be other ingredients included in the lip balm to help protect your lips, such as vitamins E, D and A. Apply your CBD lip balm regularly to get the most out of your experience. It's also a good idea to apply it after you have been exposed to the sun or even before you step out into the sun to help protect your lips from damage.

Final Thoughts

There we have it – why CBD lip balm is your answer to soft and hydrated lips this winter. Although there are lots of options to choose from, make sure that you do your research before making a purchase. Remember to check out what spectrum of CBD you're buying, purchase from a trustworthy company who third-party lab tests their products and read the reviews. This will give you a clear overall picture of a product. So, what are you waiting for? Soften your lips with CBD today!

BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +

I am a member of BeautyPie and I pay a monthly subscription fee to be a member, a short while ago, I wrote a review about as to why I joined and then what I felt is the benefits of being a member. Since joining Beauty Pie, I have managed to try a range of products across their skincare, makeup and fragrance range and today I am sharing a product I bought on a whim and that whim paid off.
BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +
BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +
The BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL + is exactly as the name states. Imported from Italy, this lip oil is designed to deliver shine, deep nourishment, a slip of colour and all without being sticky or tacky on the lips.  For me, any kind of lip product has to not be sticky or tacky, it isn't something I can get on board with, despite using numerous products which have that effect.  A Lip Oil has been one of those products people have raved about from many brands over the past few years and whilst I have tried a few of them, we have never really got along for that long, so I am glad BeautyPie and I do.

Priced at £7.34 to those who are subscribers to BeautyPie or £26 to non-members, the Wondergloss Collagen Lip Oil is available in 6 different shades:
  • Shimmereen
  • Nude Nectar
  • Jammy
  • CherryYo
  • Spicy Pink
  • Plum Naked
I have the shade Plum Naked which is a nearly there light plum shade, more cool toned than warm toned and it does impart a bit of colour when applied to the lips. As it is designed to deliver balm, shine and deep nourishment in a single swipe to the lips, it is infused with Collagen AC Micro-Vectors, antioxidant Cherry and Hibiscus oils and with it comes a hint of shimmer, from which your lips are said to look visibly plumped, moisturised and irresistibly dewy.
BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +
BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +
BeautyPie WONDERGLOSS COLLAGEN LIP OIL +
Well I can't say I have noticed that my lip looks visibly plumped, but it does keep them moisturised, though I use a lot of lip balm anyway, it is great for wearing on its own or over your favourite lipstick and it is glossy without being sticky, tacky or even icky, but there is a slight hint of vanilla scenting to it, which some might not like.  For the price, the Wondergloss Collagen Lip Oil is definitely worth trying, I would re-purchase this one again without hesitating.

If you are thinking about becoming a Beauty Pie member, then I have a referral code that gives you £10 off your first order and it gives me £10 off mine too.

Burt’s Bees New Unscented Lip Balm

Just a week or so ago I shared a brand new addition to the Burt's Bees Lip Balm collection with the Limited Edition Mint Cocoa Lip Balm, but for those who are not a fan of scented Lip Balm, and there is a few of you who ask regularly if Burt's Bees have an unscented version of their popular Lip Balm, the answer to that question is yes and here is the newest addition to that line up.
Burt’s Bees New Unscented Lip Balm
Burt's Bees New Unscented Lip Balm is infused with powerful fruit extracts alongside nourishing Shea Butter and of course responsibly sourced beeswax which come together to nourish lips which are dry, chapped, sore, cracked, dehydrated or as I have found in need of a bit of TLC before the application of lipstick to prevent it from sticking and clinging to any dry parts.

This balm, which has a moisturising matte finish, is tint free and comes packaged inside the same tube as other lip balms. Easily recognisable with the bright yellow packaging and red lettering of the brand name.
Burt’s Bees New Unscented Lip Balm
Burt’s Bees New Unscented Lip Balm
As with all Burt's Bees Lip Balms, this one is also designed to be a protective moisture barrier which in helps to promote healing of dry lips and provide long lasting moisture. These balms are incredible value for money and in my view, you can never have too many in your hand bag and at places around the home and place of work.

Priced at just £3.99 from Burt's Bees, if Unscented is the balm you are wanting then this is the one you need.

Burt's Bees Limited Edition Mint Cocoa Lip Balm

There is two new offerings from Burt's Bees within their ever-expanding Lip Balm collection and I am lucky enough to have both of them.  Today however, I am sharing the Limited Edition Mint Cocoa Lip Balm which is just divine.
Burt's Bees Limited Edition Mint Cocoa Lip Balm
Over the past few months, there has been some amazing new releases and additions to the Burt's Bees range, products such as the Lip Shimmers and the Squeezy Lip Balms.
Enjoy the sweet, indulgent flavour of hot cocoa with a touch of mint with Burt's Bees latest limited edition lip balm, Mint Cocoa.
This Lip Balm, as the name might suggest, has been inspired by a mug of hot chocolate and is described as being the perfect fix to keep lips soft and hydrated through the winter.

Burt's Bees Limited Edition Mint Cocoa Lip Balm
This lip balm has a 100% natural origin formula and is made using a blend of Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil and responsibly sourced beeswax which helps to moisturise and shield the lips every time you use it.  Also included within the formula you will find Sunflower Oil and Shea Butter too.

Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment

Now the colder months are almost upon us, this is the time of the year when I take much more care of my lips, though I am a balm addict and go through a lot of pots, tubes and sticks throughout the entire year and the most recent addition to my collection comes from Avon with the Anew Serum Lip Treatment.
Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment
Originally given to me by a close friend, but I have since been lucky enough to be sent from the brand, the Serum Lip Treatment, which is from the Anew collection is designed to keep the lips hydrated, smooth and moisturised. The Anew collection from Avon is described as being a set of products which sit in the anti-ageing category with a purpose.

Nestled inside a sleek silver case, the Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment has a clear, transparent formula which is infused with what is referred to as being 72-hour hydro power which is said to be a 7x more hydrating glycerine and it essentially works to keep your lips hydrated even after removal or reapplication.  If you suffer from dry or chapped lips, this serum treatment is incredibly soothing and it also makes for a great base before applying lipstick, as I recently found.
Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment
Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment
On the lips, what I like about this serum is that although it is designed to be super hydrating and moisturising, it isn't greasy or slimy in any way, it isn't stick or tacky and the formula has a velvety feel to it. I have found that it absorbs fairly rapidly when applied and as mentioned, makes a great base for applying lipstick because it prevents it from clinging to any drier areas.

The best part of this Avon Anew Serum Lip Treatment is that it costs less than £10 and is on sale with Avon right now.

By Terry Baume de Rose Le Stick Levres Tinted Lip Care

Whenever there is an incredible deal with By Terry, you can guarantee I am there in seconds to stock up on my favourite lip products - Baume de Rose Lip Scrub, Baume de Rose Flaconette and the product I am sharing with you today, the Baume de Rose Tinted Lip Care Stick.
ByTerry Baume De Rose Tinted Lip care Crayon
The Tinted Lip Care Crayons which is available in Candy Rose or the shade I have which is Sunny Nude and they are the colour-enriched version of the brand’s original and iconic Baume de Rose, a product I am sure everyone has heard of, used and either does or has owned. Now, that product has been moved from a little pot to a stick to make it easier to use on the go and of course tinting them with colour.

Brimming with the same ingredients as the original Baume de Rose, this tinted lip balm crayon also has the task of nourishing, repairing, and protecting the lips as it also adds a sheer wash of shimmering colour.
By Terry Baume De Rose Tinted Lip Care Crayon
By Terry Baume De Rose Tinted Lip Care Crayon
If you have used the original Baume De Rose, then you will know just how delightful that texture is as it is applied to your lips without being greasy or texture and that very same feeling is what you get with these Lip Care Crayons, the almost velvety smoothness and subtle shine really does give your lips a boost of moisture and in this case a slight hint of colour too.

Ingredients

  • Shea butter which is known for its moisturising properties
  • Ceramides which also helps to repair the lips natural moisture barrier
  • Vitamin E which helps to deeply hydrate lips
  • Rose flower essential wax offers natural regenerating properties that softens and rejuvenates your lip tissue
Featuring what is referred to as being a precise, ergonomic tip to enable not only a flawless application but it is also great for a bit of touching up on the go too. On the lips, it does feel incredibly smooth, has a fairly glossy finish and most importantly of all, it is never sticky or tacky after application.
ByTerry Baume De Rose Tinted Lip care Crayon
As you can see from the swatch above, Sunny Nude has a slight coppery bronze tone to it and honestly, it is just delightful, I wear it both on its own and over lipstick depending on my mood, the latter gives lipstick a really lovely finish.  Ideally if you are to wear this product on its own, I would advise using a lip scrub first because it does tend to cling to those drier lip parts.

This By Terry Baume De Rose Tinted Lip Care Crayon is priced at £26, which is on the pricey side, but it is also worth every single penny as it is such a delight to use and definitely worth looking out for when there is a sale.

If By Terry is a brand you happen to adore or want to know more about, for 2021 the Advent Calendar is pretty impressive and you can find out all the information for that in this post!

Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil

It comes as no surprise I once again there is a product from Aroma Active Laboratories that I just happen to absolute love. This time it is the Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil.
Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil
If you haven’t come across the brand, Aroma Active Laboratories is said to have been the fulfilment of the long-held dream the late Geraldine Howard, co-founder of Aromatherapy Associates, she wanted to bring high-quality aromatherapy to everyone. Well with the creation of Aroma Active Laboratories, sole exclusively in Boots, this has now happened and I am yet to find a single product I dislike!

The Aroma Active Laboratories range is sub-divided into four categories: Sleep, Soothe, SOS and Muscle and you will find the Soothing Solid Lip Oil sitting within the Soothing Range and it is priced at just £8!

Essentially this Soothing Solid Lip Oil is a solid balm, which when it comes into contact with the skin transforms into a rich oil to soothe, nourish, moisturise and protect.
Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil
Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil
If you suffer or are suffering from dry, chapped and sore lips, then this Lip Oil with its blend of Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and calendula Oil, all of which are rich in vitamins, and known for their conditioning properties. As always with a product from this brand, there is an aromatherapy link and for this product it is with Neroli and it is a floral, calming and soothing aroma, known for its ability to create a peaceful and calming experience and it is just a wonderful product to use.

For me, I use this as my night treatment and apply it before going to bed, but I also have one on my desk for those just in case moments. It does leave your lips feeling smooth and soothed and it is perfect as a treatment after using a lip scrub too.

This Aroma Active Laboratories Soothing Solid Lip Oil is on sale for just £8 here at Boots.

L’Occitane Pressed Fruity Lipsticks

Did you know that as well as having an amazing skin, body, hand and hair care range, L'Occitane also have quite the growing makeup range too? Already a fan of their lip care products, L'Occitane has added to the range with their brand new Pressed Fruity Lipsticks.
L’Occitane Pressed Fruity Lipsticks
L’Occitane Pressed Fruity Lipsticks
Each one of these Pressed Fruity Lipsticks, has a really lightweight formula which I really liked and because they are silicone free not to mention enriched with a combination of vitamin E and a unique blend of fruit and vegetable extracts and there is no use of mineral oils either, so they don't leave the lips feeling greasy or tacky when used and I was really impressed with the transfer of colour onto my lips - which didn't mark a cup I was drinking from.

There is four Pressed Fruity Lipsticks within the collection and I have been playing with three of them for the last few weeks, trying them out and testing their longevity and generally seeing how well they work with my skintone and lips of course.

The three shades I have are:
  • POMELIP – a natural shade of pink perfect for spring
  • CAROSSE – a vibrant coral shade, evocative of the Provence sunrise
  • SPRING SUNRISE – a deep shade of pink for a bold look
Each one of these lipsticks comes with a doe-foot applicator which not only makes the application totally effortless as the colour just glides across the lips, I have found that there is no need to use a lip liner. Once on the lips, the colour doesn't feather and has a lovely satin finish which is really comfortable to wear.
L’Occitane Pressed Fruity Lipsticks
L’Occitane Pressed Fruity Lipsticks
The swatches shown above are unedited and you see them as they apply from the doe-footed applicator, all without sticking or streaking. These lipsticks also have a wear time of around seven to eight hours, though as the day wears on, the shade does begin to wear off, but the staying power, which is impressive on its own has another ace up its sleeve because it manages to stay put on the lips even whilst wearing a face mask.

Priced at £20 each, these Pressed Fruity Lipsticks are perfect for Spring and to see you through to the Summer.

Glossier Cherry Balm dotcom - Worthy of the Hype?

When they first burst onto the scene, Glossier dotcom balms exploded across my social media feed with people raving about them. I have tried a few Glossier products, the Milky Jelly Cleanser which I really liked and the Glossier Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector but today it is the turn of the Glossier Cherry Balm dotcom.
Glossier Cherry Balm dotcom
Glossier Cherry Balm dotcom
The dotcom balm (£10 here*)comes packaged in a metal tube and there is a choice of 8 different flavours to choose from - Cherry, Original, Rose, Birthday, Mint, Coconut, Mango and Berry. Each tube of balm is coloured according to their shade, in this instance, cherry is red and therefore both the tube and the balm is red. But what exactly is the product?

The Glossier dotcom balms are hydrating lip balms which are packed with antioxidants and natural emollients which work to nourish dry, sore and chapped skin. Dermatologically tested, these balms are formulated with what are referred to as being “nature’s heavy-duty moisturisers” which to you and I is Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin.
Glossier Cherry Balm dotcom
The dense almost wax like texture which takes a little warming to get out of the tube for the first use, but every tome after that has been fine. The wax like texture works to seal in moisture and as it does so, not only leaves the lips hydrated and smooth, it does so without being greasy, tacky or sticky. It also doesn’t leave any shine on the lips but it does impart a hint of colour which I really like.

This dotcom balm is nothing like Vaseline as people claim it to be, it is one of those products that you don't need to constantly apply because it lasts a good few hours on the lips and like all Glossier products, these balms are cruelty-free.

You can find all 8 of the Glossier dotcom balms right here* on the Glossier website.

elf Cosmetics Ride or Die Lip Balm

I am back again with an elf Cosmetics review and this time it is one of their new “Ride or Die” lip balms, a range of products which will help restore moisture, keeping lips hydrated and plump.
elf Cosmetics Ride or Die Lip Balm
I am a huge fan of lip balms, I suffer from really dry lips, so need to do all I can to keep them from looking absolutely horrendous, more so because I am prone to coldsores, which are rather unsightly. From elf Cosmetics, I have the shade Boss Berry.

Each one of these lip balms is infused with Jojoba Oil and Vegan Collagen and is designed to repair dry lips as well as to add a hint of sheer wash of colour. With Boss Berry you get a slight hint of a berry scent and with it comes a sheer shade of red.
elf Cosmetics Ride or Die Lip Balm
elf Cosmetics Ride or Die Lip Balm
The other shades within the collection includes:
  • P.S.L (Pumpkin Spice Latte) - sheer orange with a pumpkin spice scent
  • Grapefruit Goals - sheer pink with a grapefruit scent
  • Cheeky Cherry - sheer deep berry tint with a cherry scent
  • Tough Cookie - sheer warm caramel with a warm brown sugar scent
  • Just Peachy - sheer orange peach with a peach scent
  • Mighty Mint - clear with a mint scent
Packaged inside a berry coloured squeezy tube, the formula is similar to the DotCom Balms, if you have tried them. As with all products from elf Cosmetics, these balms are 100% vegan and cruelty free and also free from surfaces. On the skin they are non-greasy and definitely not tacky which is always a bonus, what I do like is how moisturised and hydrated my lips feel when it is applied.
elf Cosmetics Ride or Die Lip Balm
The swatch above is completely unedited and shown as it comes out of the tube with no editing and taken on a snow day. The pop of colour transfers nicely to the lips and priced at just £5*, these are an absolute steal and I’d be more than happy to make my way through the entire range!
