Yves Rocher Make-up

Yves Rocher is one brand I am really enjoying the discovery of and have in recent months found products I have absolutely adored, so when the chance to try some of their makeup products I jumped at the chance.

In my package are 4 really lovely products.  The first is the 100% Intense Kajal liner which is really pigmented.  The first thing which caught my attention my how it is packaged and designed like a lipstick, by that I mean you remove the lid, twist the bottom and up pops your eyeliner.  Now I am notoriously bad at eyeliner, I have no patience when it comes to applying it and it just stresses me out, yet this product feels like something I can use and with a bit of practice who knows...  From the swatch that you can see on my arm, you can see how black it is and it is really hard to budge, so for those of you who like your eyeliner as black as your soul, which doesn't shift in the rain yet with a bit of eye makeup remover is easily removed, this is worth a look.

The Fixing Eyelid Primer comes next and I was chuffed to see this in my package because it is one item I have run out of and if I am wearing eye makeup, which isn't everyday, I like to have a proper primer.  When I first tried this primer, it does, on my skin look quite yellow, but once you have smoothed it across the lid, the yellowness totally disappears and it is a brilliant eyelid primer, admittedly much better than I expected.  What I love is that it isn't too thick that it grabs onto my eyeshadow, nor is it too thin that it makes no difference, it creates an almost perfect base to work with and it stops creasing, which is exactly what I expect from my primers.

Next is the Volume Vertige mascara which was the first item I opened as I am a bit of a mascara fiend.  Aside from the beautiful silver packaging is a brush that I adore because I like wide wands that have a mixture if long and short bristles, much like Benefit Mascara Wands.  There is also no excess mascara that needs to be wiped off the wand which again gets another thumbs up from me, there is nothing worse than having to remove the excess or having something which clumps upon first application, this does neither, infact one coat you can see the difference immediately, more in volume than in length and it makes for a perfect daytime mascara.

The final item is this beautiful looking Sumptuous Colour Eyeshadow Quad, I was sent the green quad, which is not my first choice as I have blue eyes, but there are plenty of other options to choose from. What I do love about this palette is that those four shades can be used as they are or wet.  Included are two small brushes which are perfect for on the go if you dont have travel sized brushes and the best thing is the size of the mirror which fits the width of the palette and is really handy to have.  On the bottom of the palette and also included is a little chart which details how to get the best use from the shades - Highlight, cover the eyelid, sculpt the eye and finally underline to give the smokey effect.

Overall I am really impressed with each and every one of these items, they look great, are easy to use and my favourite product has to be the eyelid primer, which I am absolutely loving.

Have you ever tried any makeup from Yves Rocher?

Glossybox October - Popart edition

This month's Glossybox was to be a Pop-art edition and if you saw my Instagram, you will have seen my excitement about the outer packaging!  Inside the box was just amazing and it is fair to say that I absolutely love this box and it is one I will not be throwing away.

As usual there was one spoiler which everyone would get within their box and it is a 50ml Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche, which is a full sized product worth £19.50.  The masque is said to quench the thirst of the driest skin types to leave your face feeling smooth and moisturised] not to mention radiant.

Next in the box was a full size Ciate nail polish.  I got the shade Ditch in heels' which is a mint green colour, not one I will be using sadly, but watch out for it in a giveaway.

Rimmel Matte BB cream is next in shade light and it has an SPF 15 which I like and I actually quite like the BB Cream, the colour is almost perfect for my skin tone, I just need to buff a little extra after applying and it gives a really nice feel to the skin, not to mention is great for covering my oily patches!  This is an 8ml sample which is an alright size, you get to use it for a few days before deciding whether or not you want to purchase a full sized tube which costs £6.99 from Boots for 30ml.

So Susan is next, i'm not sure what it is about these products but I start off liking them and then within days come to dislike them.  In my box was a flutter mascara in black and it has an RRP £14.99. Described as being an intense carbon-black mascara formulated with hyaluronic spheres to help you achieve the darkest, curviest lashes possible. The long brush with extra stiff bristles helps to achieve voluminous, multi-dimensional lashes in just one coat. Suitable for contact lens wearers.  We'll see, I can't say I am over-excited about it, but I do love mascara and will give it a try.

Etre Belle comes next, a brand ive never heard of but a product that intrigues me because it is called a Liplift peel which is given the following description "Up to 54% more lip volume and smoothing wrinkles without injections. Pure hyaluronic microspheres smooth quickly and effectively deep wrinkles around the lips and restructure the lip volume. The lip contour is replenished and redefined". Well worth giving it a go and as a full sized product it is worth around £10

The final product is a perfume sample, which I am a fan of in general, especially when they come in actual cute bottles.  From Yves Rocher this is called Quelques Notes d'Amour and it is very very floral, one of those perfumes that you only need the tiniest amount of before you over do it and give yourself a headache.  Possibly not the scent for me, but more for my Mam who would love it, infact it is winging its way to her, so hopefully she does like it.

So there you have my box.  I actually think this is one of the better ones that I have seen floating around and although I wouldn't use everything within in box, I like that I have some new products to play around with.

So what do you think to this box? Good or Bad?

Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur

I am a huge fan of perfumes and can quite happily spend hours wandering around department stores testing them to find one I find really like and it is also why I am signed up to a quarterly perfume sample subscription service too.

Until a few years ago I would always stick with the same brands and I then realised I was missing out on quite a lot of other good brands.  So when I got the chance to try Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur** perfume, I jumped at it because I have tried another perfume from the range which you can read about HERE, and was really impressed with it.

Moment de Bonheur can be found in this really lovely solid  glass bottle which is such a lovely shape, quite squared and sturdy and it helps to show the bright green fragrance inside the bottle.  Until I got this bottle I had never paid attention to what colour the scent might actually be, I have always assumed it would be clear or have a slight yellow tint to it.  That said, the greenness of the scent is something I associate with Spring and this is exactly what this perfume is for.

Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur

Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur

Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur

Described as:

"All the optimism and spontaneity of MOMENT DE BONHEUR YVES ROCHER in a fresher and fruitier version.

A modern and sparkling accord created from a delicate and transparent infusion of Centifolia Rose from Grasse, subtly enhanced with the crunchy and sharp imprint of the unusualessence of sweet apple. At the base, the woody signature of Virginia Cedar essence reveals the note’s vibrant character".

For me, this Yves Rocher perfume has a perfect mix of fruit and floral notes, as you can see from the description above there is a mix of Centifolia Rose and a trace of apple original essence which both work together with the base note of Virginia cedar making a really lovely fragrance. For me, this scent is one that I wear both during the day and in the evening and I have come to really like it.  The staying power is also pretty good too for an Eau de Toilette, but if you want to wear it for longer periods of time, then I would recommend popping some into an atomiser so you can re-apply because as with most perfumes the strength of the scent does fade as you wear it.

If like me you enjoy a perfume which is fresh, fruity and floral whilst not being too overpowering, then you will like Bonheur L'eau.  You can can purchase a 50ml for £38.00 from the Yves Rocher website and check out there other products (make-up, skin care and perfume) here

Yves Rocher Lipstick and Mascara

Yves Rocher is a completely new brand to me and in the past few months I have been lucky enough to try some of the make-up range which comprises of a Mascara and a lipstick.

Yves Rocher Lipstick and Mascara

The first product is the Yves Rocher Grand Rouge Lipstick - Rose Equivoque* which I would describe as being a gorgeous dark plum shade, one which normally I would usually not pick up because it looks rather bold and frightening.

However, once it has been applied, I instantly loved it.  The packaging is this gorgeous sleek shiny gold tube which is not only eye catching but very very nice, as with most lipsticks, you twist the bottom and the lipstick will appear.

As soon as I saw it for the first time i was instantly sold, it's packaged in a shiny gold tube and like most lipsticks has a twist up twist down application.  I was instantly sold on the texture of the lipstick, it being creamy really moisturising and the colour pay off was perfect to.. It didn't cling onto the dry areas and it applies so smoothly, it has a metallic like sheen to it which leaves it with a lovely shiny finish to the lips.

Then comes Sexy Pulp Mascara which again I have become a huge fan of and have been using it ever since I got it.  To start with, it has this lovely brush which is quite large, dense and all the kinds of things you want your mascara brush to be.  When you hold it against your eyelashes it feels as though it is coating each one individually, one by one.  The mascara itself looks really wet when you first open the tube, but it isn't at all, it is one of those 'just right' consistencies which make it easy to apply, it doesn't clump but it dries almost instantly on application.  After one coat you have lovely voluminious lashes and should you add a second coat, well they look even more dramatic

For me it really gave my lashes loads of volume and really lengthened them too, add to that it is one of those easy to remove mascaras and it is a fabulous product and all for just £8!  definitely something I would more than consider repurchasing when it runs out.

Have you tried either of these products?

Yves Rocher Comme une Evidence Eau de parfum

Perfume is one of the things I love in life and I am quite choosy about what I like and what I don't like, so when I was sent some Yves Rocher Comme Une Evidence Eau De Parfum** to review I was initially quite nervous that it wouldn't be something I liked.

Packaged inside a dusty pink coloured box, The bottle looks to be slightly plain until you look a little more closely whereupon which it is made of quite chunky glass and when the sun shines on it, you can see just hows pink the bottle is and one of the first things I noticed was the solidness of the bottom of the bottle where the pink colour is more evident.

Yves Rocher Comme une Evidence Eau de parfum

This perfume features two of my favourite scents -  Rose and Jasmine and for me these are the two most detectable scents within the perfume.  Working with:

  • Top notes of both bergamot and violet leaves.
  • Heart notes: rose, jasmine, wild lily of the valley
  • Base note: patchouli
All these come together to create a lovely perfume. Once it has been spritzed onto the skin, the rose and jasmine for me really come to life to make it a wonderful spring and summer scent and the fragrance itself on the skin lasts pretty much all day when I am wearing it.

So from a perfume I initially didn't think I would like, it has become one that I absolutely love and I would definitely want to check out more perfumes from this range.

What's your perfect Spring/Summer scent?

April Glossybox - Spring Fever

So I have just taken delivery of the much anticipated April Glossybox, which we all know has been designed by Pearl Lowe and her love of all things floral.  Before getting to the contents of my box, I have to say that I really do love the design on the box, it is so pretty and this is one box that I am definitely going to be using for other things:

April Glossybox - Spring Fever

So here you have the very pretty box, one of the prettiest ones I have seen from Glossy box.  Now for the content:

April Glossybox - Spring Fever

Opening the box, I kind of hoped that the ribbon would have matched the peach colour of the outer box, but never mind, it is still nicely wrapped and once inside, my Postie has clearly been bouncing the box around because the contents were all over the place.  However, once I sorted them out, this is what I found:

April Glossybox - Spring Fever

Nip+Fab dry skin fix body butter in mango

I've have never used any product from Nip+Fab so I am chuffed that I have one in my Glossy Box to try.  It is described as being an indulgent, whipped body butter to repair dry and dehydrated skin with aquaxyl – a 24 hour moisture boosting ingredient.

A full sized sample of this product is £9.95 for 200ml so this size is worth around £2.50

Essie Nail Polish in Canyon Coral

I have fallen a little bit in love with Essie Nail Polishes at the minute and from previous posts you might have seen my haul HERE and HERE.

This polish is a full sized sample retailing at £7.99 and it is a really lovely bright almost reddish colour, so cannot wait to try that.

Sleek Blusher – Suede

This is another full sized product retailing at £4.49 and I got Suede for my shade, I have seen other boxes with Flushed and Pixie Pink and in mine is this lovely natural looking colour.  I am yet to catch onto the Sleek loving, so maybe this will hook me in.

As an added bonus to Glossybox subscribers there is a 20% off offer on purchases – expires on 13th May

Yves Rocher So Elixir Purple

Again, perfumes have been on my radar quite a bit recently as you can see HERE and HERE. I am a huge fan of perfumes and I quite like getting decent sized samples.  This one is a 5ml sample which I guess is worth around £5 and It is described as being an ‘intoxicating and magnetic fragrance’.

I havent been able to resist smelling it and I really quite like it, quite fruity though when you first put it onto your skin it is a really strong scent and it takes a while to settle.

A full size bottle of 50ml will cost you  £44 and once again this product comes with an offering of £5 any order over £35 plus free postage, on any product from Yves Rocher.

Sunsense Daily Face SPF

This cream, which is described as being a light, soft cream tinted with a sheer matte finish and has an SPF of 50 which is quite impressive and it is an oil-free formula making it ideal for most skin types, even my own combination/oily.

This is a full sized sample and is worth £18.50 for the 75ml and also has an offer of 25% off your next purchase, ending 31st June (I am sure they mean 30th June however).

I must also remember that included as normal is the Glossy Magazine:

April Glossybox - Spring Fever

And inside the magazine is an intrview with Pearl Lowe herself by Kate Cornell and an introductory message from Pearl herself on the love of all things vintage and floral.  Inside the magazine is more information on each of the products included within the box, which opens up to be almost A3 in size.

So there you have it, my Glossybox, one that I am really chuffed with this month.  What are your thoughts?
