Life's an Adventure - Burt's Bees

I am a huge Burt's Bees fan and have featured many of the products here on my blog. One thing I do love that Burt's Bees do really well is the hand travel sized products which not only mean you get to try something before you splash out on a full sized product but you can also take your favourites with you on your travels.

The Mister and I are looking to go away for a few days to the seaside, somewhere we both get quite a lot of comfort and lord knows right now we both need it. So with that in mind I have travel sized beauty items on the brain and then this lovely little Life's an Adventure kit has landed in my lap and it is packed full of amazing products. Inside this handy cosmetics bag there is:

• Coconut & Pear Lip Balm 4.25g - If ever there was a lip balm I was going to fall in love with it, it is this one.  Not only does it smell just incredible and would make a fantastic scented candle (HINT).  Enriched with Coconut Oil, Pear Extract, and Shea Butter, o
nce applied it instantly nourishes and moisturises the lips whilst leaving behind a slight hint of pear and coconut, neither scent being overpowering.

• Milk & Honey Body Lotion mini 70g - For normal to dry skin, this non-greasy, lightweight natural moisturiser goes to work the minute you apply it, and it’s scientifically proven to moisturise for up to 24 hours. Milk nourishes while honey helps to soften skin; plus, coconut and grape seed oils and vitamin E deliver beneficial nutrients to the skin.   It does, as you expect, smell absolutely divine and is the perfect size for a few days away.

• Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream 17g - One of my favourite products from Burt's Bees, this little tin of goodness nourishes and moisturises your nails and cuticles with this intensive, natural treatment.

• Shea butter hand repair purse sized 50g - This is a super rich natural hand cream which uses Sunflower oil and glycerin alongside shea butter and essential botanical oils like macadamia nut, rosehip, lavender, neroli and borage, that impart antioxidants and fatty acids to nourish your skin, nails and cuticles
.

• Facial Towelettes with White Tea (10 count) - These 99% natural face wipes are perfect for sensitive skin and for naturally removing dirt, oil and make-up without rinsing. They are infused with anti-oxidant rich White Tea Extract and other botanical extracts like Cucumber Extracts and Aloe Leaf Juice to cleanse and calm your face naturally.

For a few days away, this makes for a perfect little travel kit, it has everything I need in there to keep my skin in tip top condition and it costs just £16.99 which is an absolute bargain and you can find yours HERE.

B. Beauty Makeup Brush Collection.

This Spring, B. have taken a huge leap forward and launched its very first professional quality makeup tools.  If you are familiar with the B. range, which you will find in Superdrug, you will already know that they pride themselves on being cruelty free and Vegan and these tools are no exception.

Handcrafted, these brushes are made using silky-soft fibres which are made of Taklon, a synthetic material used to make other makeup brushes and tools.  Each brush has tapered brush edges which are precision shaped to define and build flawless layers of makeup and have been developed and designed with input from the lovely Cassie Lomas, celebrity makeup artist and B. Ambassador and she has filmed a series of videos which you can find HERE which introduce the brushes, offers advice, hints and tips.

The brush collection has seven different brushes to choose from
  • B. Finishing Brush £9.99
  • B. Powder Brush £9.99
  • B. Blusher/Contour Brush £8.99
  • B. Foundation Brush £7.99
  • B. Eyeshadow Blending Brush £8.99
  • B. Eyeshadow Brush £5.99
  • B. Retractable Lip Brush £5.99
All of these brushes are available now from Superdrug and they are on offer, so grab them quick.  I was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight they felt in my fingers, they weigh next to nothing and are nicely shaped to make holding onto them an easy task.  I absolutely love the Finishing brush, which can be used for powder, liquid or cream products and when used as a finishing brush, it really does help to set your make-up in places and blend anything that has been left untouched to create that flawless finish.

Alongside this set is a really handy travel set** which I cooed over as soon s I saw it.  It comes with a really handy travel wallet which fits nicely into any of my handbags, has a zipped compartment for any makeup you might want to store and has a mirror.

As you can see it comprises itself of four brushes and these brushes are perfect mini brushes. There is a Powder Brush, Foundation Brush, Eye Shadow Brush and Retractable Lip Brush.  As with the larger brushes, they have the same professional quality and finish.

B. Beauty Makeup Brush Collection.

Power BrushThis brush is designed to hold the ideal amount of powder whilst still maintaining control and precision. To achieve a polished finish, do not sweep across the face. Dab the bristles into the powder then roll and rotate the side of the brush across the face focusing on the T-zone. This versatile brush can also be used to apply blusher, bronzer and powders.

B. Beauty Makeup Brush Collection.

Foundation Brush - A little tip I was given when it comes to using this brush is to create an even coverage start in the centre of the face!. To use, use the oval tapered edge, working outwards towards the hairline, jawline and blend down towards the décolletage. Blend using circular movements to avoid over application. This brush can be used with liquid or cream foundation.

B. Beauty Makeup Brush Collection.

Eye Shadow Brush - This brush is perfectly designed to add a wash of colour over the eyelid. It can be used to gradually build up the layers of colour to create definition and shadow. You can also use this brush to apply metallic glitter pigment by simply dipping it into the pigment and gently pat onto the lid.

B. Beauty Makeup Brush Collection.

Retractable Lip Brush - I really like this brush, I like how it has a lid to keep the brush clean and to protect the brush, especially if it was to become loose in your bag.  This brush can be used to create the perfect pout by starting at the centre of the mouth and then blend the colour outwards and gradually build up layers. This is a versatile brush within the collection because you can also use it to apply concealer.

This is such a handy set of brushes to have and it is the perfect travelling companion.  Lightweight and doubling up as a handy makeup bag, you can easily fit most items you want and need within it, priced at just £17.99 (though currently on offer) it is, I feel, more than worth its value and the perfect Summer companion.

Dirty Works V Soap and Glory - is it a dupe?

You know when you use a few different products and suddenly one reminds you of another? Well that happened to me whilst I was on holiday.  As mentioned in a previous post, see HERE, I took with me lots of travel sized lotions and potions and whilst using my Soap and Glory products I realised they smelt similar to another product that I had received for my birthday from a friend.

Here are those products:

Dirty Works are a brand of bath and body products that you find for sale in Sainsburys and quite a lot of the Blogs I follow have reviewed them.  I got the package above as a birthday present from a friend who knew I liked Soap and Glory but promised me this brand would be just as good if not better.

However, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this and please note I did say 'similar' and not the same, but it was with Scrub of your life that I first noticed that there was a similar scent to Buff your Stuff and when I got home I used both of the products one after another to look further into it:

Dirty works on the left and Soap and Glory on the right

Neither product look similar and truth me told the Soap and Glory Scrub is much thicker in texture than Dirty Works though the scrub particles are similar.  The similarity comes with the scent and that is all it is, similar.  The fruity smell I have come to know and love with Soap and Glory products is very similar with this particular Dirty Works product and could it be a very good dupe?

The Scrub of your life currently costs £7 for 200ml whereas Buff Your Stuff from Dirty Works costs £3.99 for 200ml which is quite a big saving.

Have you noticed this? Have you tried a Dirty Works product?
