Lush King of Skin Body Butter

Ever since Lush stopped selling The Comforter Shower Gel, I have probably tried every other shower gel there is on offer, but one set of products I hadn't tried until now was the body butters and new to the collection comes Lush King of Skin Body Butter.
Lush King of Skin Body Butter
Lush King of Skin Body Butter is a solid body butter which comes with no bottle or pot and its job is to leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Ideal for using in the shower, the idea is to massage the crown of the body butter over wet skin and as it comes into contact with the warmness of the water, it creates a lovely almost balm-to-oil like texture which isn't greasy or tacky on the skin, instead it is just incredibly soft and smooth.

Using hydrating oat milk and nutrient rich bananas which work hand-in-hand with smooth avocado and cocoa and shea butters, you get a really delightful calming and soothing scent which comes from:
  • Tangerine Oil, an uplifting scent which helps to rejuvenate as it is thought to improve the circulation of blood and lymph,
  • Lavender Oil, soothing and calming scent which on the skin helps cleanse and soothe as well as balance sebum production
  • Sandalwood Oil, a reassuring and grounding scent which is astringent, emollient and soothing to the skin
  • Rose Oil, an incredibly fresh rose scent which i designed to be uplifting, on the skin it is used for its soothing, rejuvenating and toning properties.
Add to those the use of Almond Oil and Jojoba Oil which are both soothing and moisturising, but that isn't all.  As you can see from the shape of the body butter, with its crown like design, it also makes for a lovely massage balm as you manoeuvre it around the body, using the middle to apply pressure to those aches and pains.

After showering, you simply rinse off your skin is not only left nourished and deeply moisturised, but the scent of those oils are all too present and make for the most wonderful smell which is present on the skin.

Priced at £9 it is a wonderful treat and a nice break from using traditional shower gels.

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner

As soon as Snow Fairy hits those Lush shelves, you know Christmas is coming and it is one Lush product I look forward to treating myself too. This year there has been a little addition to the Snow Fairy family with a Body Conditioner.

With a description as dreamy as this "Candy floss water sets the scene, evoking the excitement of enchanting fairgrounds and disappearing bites of sugary fluff. To enter this otherworldly carnival, you need only step into the shower," you would be hard pushed not to pick it up and try it, or if you are like me, you go over to the lovely Lush staff and ask for a demo with a full pot in your hand.
Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner
Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner
Like the shower gel, this body conditioner is thick, creamy and smells like heaven, if you are a Snow Fairy fan you will love it. Bright pink in colour, it is rich and buttery and is to be used as you shower like a shower gel.

Packed full of avocado butter, mango butter and a cherry infusion, this a slightly stronger scented Snow Fairy fragrance and one which lasts a lot longer too. Ingredients within Lush products are chosen for a reason. So with Avocado butter it is packed full of natural oils and is rich, nourishing, and softening and as it soothes and conditions the skin, it re-hydrates at the same time. Mango Butter softens the skin without leaving it feeling greasy and it has moisturising, lubricating and damage-repairing properties. Finally is the cherry infusion which not only adds a sweet layer to the scent but because of its stringent properties it makes a great natural skin toner and antioxidant.  So add all that together with some Cocoa butter and you won't be surprised to have super soft, smooth and moisturised skin.

This is the first time I have used a Lush body conditioner so I am always thankful for the instructions on the side of the pot. Basically, just before you get out of the shower or bath (shower for me) you smother on as much or as little as you feel you need and cover the areas/body parts that you feel are in need of a little more moisturising and softening, naturally you need to stand out of the way of the water as you do this otherwise it will just run off your skin. Then once you have finished, allow your water to rinse of the conditioner from the skin, pat yourself dry and then within the next half an hour your skin will just feel incredible. If you enjoy a weekly pampering session, this is a great product to use as your bath runs, again cover yourself in it where you need too and then lie back and let the cream do the work for you.

Unsurprisingly to those who know me, I absolutely adore this product. Not only does it smell amazing, but because it is a stronger scent than Snow Fairy, it lasts just so much longer and you can literally smell it all day long on your skin.  It also leaves your skin feeling so soft, smooth and incredible to the touch. It isn't greasy or cloying on the skin, it does what it says it will do and basically grab it now before it disappears from the shelves.

Priced at £13.95 for a 200ml tub, you can find Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner right HERE

It's Halloween with Lush

How amazing does a Saturday night locked in a Lush Cosmetics shop sound? Amazing that is what and guess what... It is exactly what I did!  Down at Victoria Station hidden away is a little Lush Store with the most amazing, excitable, knowledgeable and friendly Lush staff you will possibly meet.

Spending an evening being allowed to explore new products, play with products, touch absolutely everything and eat sweets is a dream for any Lush fan and I got to take it one step further and walk around the store, wearing Lush BB Seaweed Facemask whilst dropping bath bombs into water, why? Well because I could and because, well why not?  One thing I do love about Lush and their staff is how friendly everyone is and if you are not so sure whether or not a product is for, then simply ask and it will be shown to you.

With Autumn arriving and Halloween and then Christmas coming, there is, as you might expect, a lot of new Lush products and first comes Halloween so this is what you might find on the shelves on your local store.

Halloween with Lush Cosmetics

The Lush Halloween 2016 collection, which is available in-stores now, debuts some bright, weird and most definitely sparkly products to try out.  Starting with Dead Good Pumpkin gift set (20.95) which features four products Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar, Pumpkin and Lord of Misrule Bath Bombs plus Boo the bath melt.
It's Halloween with Lush
Pumpkin Bath Bomb (£3.95) fizzes into a hue of bright orange as it melts into the water and it gives off a spicy scent of vanilla with a dashing of cinnamon to almost make you believe you have a piece of pumpkin pie, fruity and sweet all at the same time.

Monsters' Ball Bath Bomb (£4.25) explodes into bright vivid pinks, purples and mint greens as it dissolves into the water and using Lime Oil and Neroli Oil it is every bit as fruity as a bath needs to be, but there is also the inclusion of rock salt from the Himalayas.

Boo the bath melt (£3.50) which is shaped like a ghost uses calming Mimosa, warming Ginger, Fair Trade, organic cocoa butter, grounding sandalwood combines and vivid Sicilian mandarin oil to make the most amazing amount of bubbles which smell delightful.
It's Halloween with Lush
Autumn Leaf Bath Bomb (£3.75) fizzes from green to yellow and then to red which is as amazing as it sounds and uses Sandalwood, Bergamot and Neroli oils, again smelling just incredible, just like cut grass!

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar (£3.50) gives off a multitude of iridescent lustres - gold, green, purple and silver on the skin. Using illipe and cupuaƧu butters which gently melt over the body, they soften skin and leave the fruity scent of almond, grapefruit and bergamot, it smells literally good enough to eat.

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar (£3.95) is definitely one for the glitter lovers, though it doesn't turn you into a disco ball thankfully.  Dropped into the water this one becomes bright greens and oranges and used Juniperberry, Grapefruit and Lime oils which pack a punch and should leave you revitalised and full of energy.
It's Halloween with Lush
It's Halloween with Lush
Little Monster (£10.95) is the second gift set to have caught my eye. Inside you will find two gifts - Lord of Misrule Shower Gel which uses spicy black pepper and patchouli concoction, with just a dash of Fair Trade vanilla absolute to bring out your sweet side.  Add to that is Monters' Ball Bath Bomb.

So if Halloween is your thing and you love Lush, this combination is just perfect!

Lush - Plum Rain

When I first saw this Plum Rain in Lush, the first thing that jumped into my head was Purple Rain by Prince (yes I am sure you are now singing it too) and being drawn to the name, the shower gel was in my basket doubly quick and paid for (£4.95 for 100g).
Lush - Plum RainLush - Plum Rain

Plum Rain is one of these exclusive to Oxford street products and smells just absolutely incredible, something I associate with most Lush products if I am being honest. Now unsurprisingly, I havent seen a lot of information about Plum Rain and with it being a new product, I am surprised it isnt even online.

Anyway, if you have ever tried a Lush Shower Gel, then you will know that they are amazingly thick and creamy, which ultimately means you only need a small amount for lots of lather and bubbles. Bright purple in colour (purple rain.... purple raaaaaain) it shimmers in the sunlight and smells slightly plum like, quite fresh rather than artificial and sweet but earthy all at the same time and as you might have guessed, it has quite a few amazing ingredients.

Starting with Umeboshi Infusion, something I have never come across before, Google tells me that it is infact translated to mean a Japanese pickled plum only it is more like an apricot than a plum and it tastes extremely sour and salty. Also included is:

  • Petigrain oil which helps to clear greasy skin and fight skin blemishes and have calming and relazing properties.
  • Sicilian Mandarin oil helps to relieve stress and works to increase circulation to the skin, reduce fluid retention and help prevent stretch marks
  • Carrageenan extract which is extracted from Irish moss seaweed and acts as an excellent moisturising agent
  • Osmanthus oil is said to help with the body’s removal of toxins and is a great emollient for the skin leaving it feeling soft, smooth and moisturised.
Plus there is also the inclusion of Fresh plum juice.

I absolutely love this shower gel, it doesn't take the top spot away from The Comforter, but it is just a delight to use and has such an amazing scent to it that I am without question going to purchase a larger bottle next time.  It leaves your skin soft and smooth and with a scent that lingers on the skin for hours after use.  A big thumbs up from me!

Lush Ultraviolet Bubble Bar

Every now and again there is a Lush product that I absolutely must have, Ultraviolet is it.  I stumbled across it when purchasing some Dream Cream for my sister and the scent just grabbed me.  Anyone who loves the smell of Swizzels Parma Violets will love this and I as immediately dragged back to the days when I would sit and just eat packets of them.

Ultraviolet (rrp £4.25) was part of the Mothers Day collection here in the UK and it is an item you need to grab quick before it disappears.  A brightly coloured rainbow, this bubble bar features purple lilac, blue and green shades which really stand out and it is absolutely huge too, definitely a product which can be split multiple times for more enjoyment in the bath. Like most bubble bars, you simply crumble this one under running water to create that wet sand like feel and in doing so, the bath water turns to a murky purple colour hidden among the bubbles.

Lush Ultraviolet Bubble Bar
Lush Ultraviolet Bubble Bar

The description "Journey to the end of the rainbow with Ultraviolet. Beyond its shades of purple and violet, this giant bubble bar has a gorgeous violet, ylang ylang and jasmine scent that's intoxicating yet delicate. Crumble a piece under running water and submerge yourself underneath silky, purple-y waters and take a moment to stop and smell the seductive florals of Ultraviolet for a chilled out bathtime" pretty much sums up this bubble bar. Once in the water it creates copious amounts of bubbles, so if like me, you like a lot of bubbles, consider that box well and truly ticked.

The main ingredient is Violet Leaf Absolute which gives it that Parma Violet scent and is said to act as both an antibacterial and antiseptic which is great for your skin. Rosewood Oil will help to lift your spirits and have a balancing effect on the mind and body. It is used with good results in reducing headaches, colds, coughs, fever and infections and is a boost for the immune system. Ylang Ylang Oil, one of my favourites, has a soothing effect and its balancing action sorts out over-dry as well as overly-oily skin by balancing the secretion of sebum, and has a stimulating effect on the scalp which promotes more luxurious hair growth. It also lifts the spirits and has uplifting properties. Finally we have Jasmine Absolute which is great at helping to relieve stress and pre-menstrual tensions. It is said to relax mind and body. On the skin, Jasmine oil tones dry, greasy, irritated and sensitive skin, increases elasticity and is often used to assist with stretch marks and to reduce scarring.

This Bubble Bar is absolutely wonderful, if you hadn't guessed and it is one I have really enjoyed using.  Once in the bath, the oils mix with the steam to send the Parma Violet scent throughout the house where it remains for hours. After bathing, my skin is not only soft, smooth and incredibly moisturised, it smells incredible.  A huge thumbs up to Lush for this bubble bar!

Mothers Day with Lush

Wonder Woohoo A special golden treat for the super mums out there. Using mimosa absolute, soothing sandalwood oil and Brazilian orange oil it looks amazing and smells amazing.

Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb - Love is blind, which is a shame because this bombshell with a floral triplet of yellow rose petals, rose absolute and rose oil is an enthralling spectacle. As it fizzes, the outer shell breaks away and magnificent petals burst out in a sweet haze of Sicilian lemon and floral geranium oils.

Lush Rosey Cheeks Facemask

I do love a good Lush Facemask and whilst most people manage to go back to MAC with their empties for a new lipstick, I go back to Lush with mine for a new facemask, this time I picked up Rosey Cheeks.

This mask is perfect for giving your face a really good cleanse.  You know when it just feels in the need for a really good clean and a bit of TLC? Well this is the mask you need, if you havent tried it already.

Lush Rosey Cheeks Facemask
Lush Rosey Cheeks Facemask
Lush Rosey Cheeks Facemask

As you can see it has a lovely dusky pink colour to it and it is quite a thick formula. When I apply facemasks like this, instead of using my fingers, I use an old make up brush for a much more even coating and with this mask, it is a case of a little goes a long way.

Lush use a simple blend of kaolin, calamine and Turkish rose oil which come together to make a mask which smells absolutely divine, think fresh roses and one which removes dirt, calms the skin, cleanses and soothes all at the same time.  After cleansing your skin to ensure all surface dirt and grime have been removed, you apply this mask to the skin and leave it for 10-15 minutes.  The mask doesn't dry hard so that you can't move your face, but it does set.  To remove, grab your muslin cloth or flannel and use warm water.

What I absolutely love about this mask is how calming it is on my skin. I do have redness on both cheeks, which I hide using colour correcting make-up to make it less noticeable.  After using this mask on my skin, those red patches almost disappear and are much less noticeable.  Add to that how divine the mask smells and how clean your skin feels, it is an amazing face mask.

Rosey Cheeks currently retails for £6.75 and you can find more about it right here - link.

Lush Cup O'Coffee Face and Body Mask

Almost two years ago now I gave up caffeine, I got to the point where I became too dependant upon it to get me through the day and one day decided enough was enough and cut it out. Now instead of needing coffee or tea, I have it as an occasional treat and have instead found new things to try instead. However, I love the smell of coffee, I love coffee flavoured things and when I saw Cup O'Coffee as a Face and Body Mask in Lush, it was in my basket before I had even had a sniff!

Cup O'Coffee is a Face and Body mask and as the name suggests it smells like freshly brewed coffee and is heaven in a black Lush tub, it is intense, it is great and I love it, even if I didn't like it as a mask, I would still love it for the scent. As for smelling like fresh coffee, well it looks quite like coffee too as you can see, it is a Mocha shade, so not overly exciting bright pink with glitter, but it matches it name especially well and it does do an excellent job.

Lush Cup O'Coffee Face and Body Mask
Lush Cup O'Coffee Face and Body Mask

So Cup O'Coffee is best described as being an exfoliating mask for the face and body and the idea is that you slap it onto your face and body, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash off. It is definitely more of a shower product than one for the bath and it is also one you need to use when you have 15 minutes to stand around in your bathroom, but it is also totally worth it. The pot comes in two sizes, 150g and 325g and the one I have is 150g and it lasted for a few uses. Again, depending on where you use it, how much you use and how often you use it depends on how long it is going to last. The first time I used it was on my arms and legs and I used it sparingly, the second time I used it on my face and the third time I managed to do arms, chest and face before running out. Having applied it to my skin in a massaging motion as I would with any other mask, waiting for 15 minutes in and then getting into a warm shower to massage it off my skin, the scent, once it hits the steam of the shower is just divine, honestly it is like standing next to a Barista as he makes your coffee.

As you might have guessed, the main ingredient of Lush Cup O' Coffee is of course coffee and it is called coffee infusion which you can read more about here. The caffeine within this product is rich, awakening and boosts your blood flow and circulation to literally wake everything up, even you! Also included is Kaolin which helps to cleanser and exfoliate the skin, Coriander Seed Oil which not only warms and soothes tired achey muscles but also uplifts and refreshes where states of tension and fatigue exist plus it is naturally antibacterial and there is also Vanilla Absolute which is fresh and uplifting scent as well as having an antibacterial effect on the skin, it is also naturally rich in vitamins which help your skin to feel more balanced and healthy.

Once you have removed the mask from your face and body, which I always have done (am on my third tub) using a muslin cloth, my skin felt just incredible. Wearing thick tights most days, can leave my legs feeling really dry and scaly, even though I moisturise every morning and evening. So to use this mask once a week, literally removes all the dead and dry skin and leaves behind soft, smooth, moisturised and glowing (on the face) skin which smells so amazing. I think this is honestly the best face and body mask I have ever used, well it must be, I am now on my third tub and still love it as much now as I did when I first got one.

This Lush Cup O' Coffee Face and Body Mask costs £6.75/150g and £13.25/325g and can be found online and in stores.

The Comforter Shower Gel - Lush

A few weeks ago I went to the grand opening of the new Lush Flagship Store here on Londons Oxford Street which you can read about HERE.  One thing I learnt at that opening is that there are over 200 new products, yes TWO HUNDRED which is absolutely phenomenal and I have already tried and tested some of them!

The first item I could not wait to open is The Comforter Shower Gel!  I am a big fan of the Bubble Bar and would go as far as to say it is my favourite one from the Bubble Bar selection.  So to find the shower gel was a little more than exciting and here it is:

Described as being 'Like a Cuddle in a bottle' this shower gel is just amazing. For those of you who are familiar with the Bubble Bar, it is that scent in this bottle. It uses the exact same ingredients which are:
  • Begamot Oil - As a scent it is fresh, sweet, fruity scent has an uplifting, cheerful effect, easing tension, and encouraging sleep. It also has antibacterial properties to, help clear the skin.
  • Cassis Absolute - This gives a deep blackcurranty aroma which provides the main scent.
  • Cypress Oil - works an antiseptic as well a deodorant and it also helps tone the skin. The fragrance also helps to calm during times of stress.
The texture of this shower gel is quite thick and if you are an avid user of Lush shower gels, it is similar to Snow Fairy, so you only ever need a small amount to create a lot of lather.  The scent is one which lingers, I can still smell it on my skin after being at work for a whole day, though it has obviously faded.

So, if you are a big fan of Lush, this is one new product I would really recommend buying.  It isn't yet on the man Lush site but it is on sale inside the Oxford Street Store.  This bottle costs around £9.50 for this 250g bottle.

Lush Oxford Street Store Grand Opening

In just a few weeks time Lush will be celebrating their 20th birthday and now with over 900 stores in 49 countries, I was honoured to be invited to see the brand new store here in London on the well known Oxford Street last week. This store is the new flagship store and it is spread over 3 floors which I am told equates to 9500 sq ft but essentially what it is behind all of that is an adults playground.

Lush Oxford Street Store Grand Opening

The moment I stepped inside my eyes didn't know where to look first, there was colour and products jumping out from me in every angle and the urge not to grab and basket and run the gauntlet was a tough one and I did manage to contain myself.  I was one of the lucky people who got to have a personal tour of the store with Mark Constantine, Co-founder and Managing Director at Lush and this is one seriously amazing man whose eyes sparkle every time he got to show us a particular product.  I loved how down to earth and approachable and you could just tell how much the Lush brand meant to him.

As I have said, the new Lush store is spread over three floors.  In the basement you will find Gorilla Perfume & the Gorilla Perfume Gallery alongside Skincare, Massage, the amazing Lush Spa and down here you will also find information about Music and I saw some Lush candles too!  The Spa experience in itself sounds heavenly and whilst I have done a tour of the one on The Kings Road, ive not experienced any of the treatments.  The one treatment I do love the sound of and it is one Mark loves is a new treatment called 'The Planets' - definitely one to look up!

The Ground floor where you enter from the high street has everything you can think of - Hair, Make-up, Skincare, Soaps, Shower products and Mouth care products all of which you can break down into smaller sections to include Bath Ballistics, Bubble Bars, Bath Oils, Shower Gels, Shampoo, Facemasks and so on... all of those products you love from Lush are right here.

The final floor is known as the first floor and it is where the gift sets can be found.  This is where my eyes were drawn to the brightest, boldest and shout out loud packaging I have ever seen.  I just wanted to run up to the shelves and open all the boxes, literally there is something for everyone, every occasion and in all shapes and sizes and if I had to pick one, I would struggle.

Lush Oxford Street Store Grand Opening

I spent a good two hours looking around the store going up and down the stairs and it is just amazing. When I said it was like a playground for adults I meant it.  One of the things that really stands out in this store is that you can try as many products out as you want to before buying them.  The staff are on hand to demonstrate anything you would like to see, but they are not pushy or persuasive in anyway which is really nice and I love the laid back feel as you wonder around in awe of everything whilst being able to touch, sniff and test to your hearts content.

One fact did I found out whilst on my visit was that there are over 200 new products, yes 200... to try and whilst most of them are exclusive to this store, there is plans afoot to roll them out to every other Lush store over the next 18 months and some are shown below.

Lush Oxford Street Store Grand Opening

Throughout the whole of my time at the Lush store there was a few products that I just couldn't wait to get my hands on and those of you who follow me on Instagram will have no doubt seen my excitement about these two:

Lush Oxford Street Store Grand Opening

Yes the Comforter which you might recognise as a Bubble Bar and my favourite bath product from Lush is now in liquid form and I gasped when I saw it because it smells exactly like the Bubble Bar and it is just stunning and secondly The Flamingo, those of you familiar with the Star Wand from Christmas will understand how these work.  There is a further post coming later this week about my Lush haul, well it would have been rude not too.

If you do go to this store, the one thing you must do is use the lift, it is amazing and im saying no more on it!

Chocolate Beauty Gifts for Easter

Easter is the best excuse there is to eat chocolate for breakfast (along with Christmas) and alongside munching away on your Easter egg, there is a whole host of other chocolatey goodness to be enjoyed.

Hotel Chocolat whom are well known for their chocolate range, also have a beauty section that is worthy of drooling over. This Quilesse Body Scrub is described as being uplifting, enlivening, invigorating – the energising scent of our cocoa groves at sunrise.

Bomb Cosmetics Ballotin Gift Set is a must for any chocolate lover who loves to chill out and relax in the bath. The set contains six luxuriously hand crafted bath products all with a chocolate theme:
  • Vanilla Bath Creamer
  • Chocolate Orange Bath Creamer
  • Coffee Mocha Bath Meltz
  • Chocolate Bath Mallow
  • Double Choc Chip Bath Gem
  • Chocolate Buttercup
All containing natural Cocoa Butter and essential oils.

Lush has one of my favourite facemasks - Cupcake - Using Rhassoul mud, which is highly absorbent, it works with cocoa powder to draw out all the dirt, grime and impurities to give your skin a deep cleanse. The use of fresh mint also stimulates and tones the skin, whilst linseed and cocoa butter soften and moisturise.

Yankee Candle have some of the most interesting scents that I have come across. I am a huge candle fan and from the new Cafe Culture collection from Yankee Candle, inspired by relaxing city breaks is Cappucino Truffle. Described as being a decadent pairing of bold, roasted coffee and luscious, velvety chocolate.

Too Faced - One of my favourite palettes is the Too Faced Chocolate Palette which I use all the time.  Now with Semi-Sweet on the horizon, it too would make a perfect Easter Gift.  Described as having 16 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused matte and shimmer shades of warm caramels, deep mochas, bronzy chocolate hues and a pop of sugared blueberry, it sounds totally divine. Add to the Too Faced raving of products comes the Milk Chocolate Bronzer, which I have fallen back in love with and have been using daily, it smells absolutely amazing and works really well with my skin tone too.

Flamingo Candles caught my attention during the week with their Scent Eggs - Scent Eggs are small, oval-shaped eggs which are made from natural soy wax, etched with Florrie the flamingo and come in a variety of simple fragrances. They’re designed to be mixed up, to create wild and wonderful scent combinations!  Place three or four Scent Eggs in an oil/fragrance burner, along with a tealight and wait for the gorgeous aroma to fill the room. Scent Eggs make the perfect gift, packaged in a glass jar with our lovely flamingo lid.

Essie - One of my favourite nail polish brands is Essie and whilst brown nail polish wouldn't be my personal choice, one called Chocolate Cakes certainly grabbed my attention.

What will you be hoping for this Easter?
