Murad Christmas Gift Guide 2023

If you are a fan of the Murad skincare range, which of course I am, then for 2023 there is a whole host of superb Christmas Gift Sets and I am sharing two of them with you.

In recent years I have shared some amazing Murad products on this blog which includes the Murad City Skin Age Defense SPF50 PA++++ and in the coming weeks I have some Murad newness scheduled to share, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Drinks Gift Guide 2023

So the Christmas Food Ship has been done and you've got people popping in and out for festive drinks over the coming days, if you are in need of some gift ideas or even drinks ideas then this is the post you need to be reading!

Last minute gifts with Flowwow

Christmas Gifting with INLight Beauty

A brand that is new to my stash is INLight Beauty, a natural, organic Skincare and Beauty Brand that uses Science and Nature to fuse their our expertly formulated skincare collections which are designed to work with your skin, rather than only on it, bringing beauty to life.

The Body Oil with Arnica is described as being a deeply warming, soothing body oil and it features a complex of plants and astringent herb extracts which work to relax, rejuvenate and promote suppleness and elasticity and leave your skin with a lustrous, silky sheen.

Ideal for use as a massage oil, it features anti-oedemic and anti-inflammatory arnica, apricot kernel oil and vitamin E-rich evening primrose oil which come together to rejuvenate and nourish. What I really love about this body oil is that it has this silky consistency which isn't greasy. One of my big issues with any body oil is that if it feels like cooking oil, i'm not using it, I want luxury and I want to enjoy any product I am applying, this is definitely luxurious.  

As it glides onto the skin, it is the perfect tonic for tired and aching muscles as it so soothing, perfect for those post-work out treats, or in my case a few hours of cleaning an maybe some ironing.  You only need a few drops of this oil and ive found that using it after showering is the perfect time to use, when the skin is still slightly damp, better still, using it with a body brush is heavenly.

Then the foot balm, not the favourite part of my anatomy and nor anyone elses for that matter, this balm is described as being the balm to melt away rough skin whilst reviving tired, aching feet and legs.

Formulated to promote better circulation and to support weak veins, it uses witch hazel and cypress whose vasotonic and astringent properties come together with the healing and qualities of marigold, lavender, and plantain to restore, calm and tone. The particular combination of ingredients makes this balm ideal for both foot and leg massage and it is also great for use on dry or cracked heels and feet.  This balm does come with a spatula and I find that one spatula full is enough for each foot, you will need more if you plan to use it on your legs, but a little goes a long way.

Again, used after bathing or showering when the trotters are clean and fresh, you simply massage the balm into the toes, soles, and heel, applying more to those areas of skin which are cracked or dry. On contact with the skin, this balm does melt quickly, so care is needed if you plan to walk around after using and despite my loathing of feet, there is something quite relaxing about a foot massage (even if you have to grit your teeth).

A really lovely gift set from INLight Beauty and most definitely a brand I want to learn more about and use more products from.

Flawless Brightly 10% Azelaic Acid Serum 7ml - This is designed to tackle dull, lacklustre skin as well as to evens out skin-tone, calm bump and clears pores. It's hero ingredient is azelaic acid which works to visibly tackle pigmentation and redness, clear clogged pores, and reduce the appearance of blemishes. Alongside it is the inclusion of 5% Niacinamide, referred to as the barrier-boosting, pore-unclogging B vitamin ingredient that makes skin like retinoids better, followed by 2% Ascorbyl Glucoside which is said to be a stable yet gentle antioxidant powerhouse partnered with brightening and collagen-boosting properties, 1% Bakuchiol, this seed extract is said to think it's a retinoid, which it isn't, but its job is to diffuse blemish-prone skin and reduce the visible signs of premature ageing.  My skin absolutely loves this serum and I love the difference it has made to a slight bit of redness on my cheeks.

Flawless Nightly 2% Retinoid Serum 7ml - Featuring three key ingredients – 2% Granactive retinoid which It clears out pores, softens crinkles and improves clarity, 5% Azelaic Acid to tackles redness, blemishes and pigmentation, 1% Bakuchiol to help blemish-prone skin and premature ageing and finally 10% Niacinamide which Dr Sam refers too as the barrier-boosting, pore-unclogging vitamin that makes skin like retinoids better. The serum, which is an almost light yellow colour is definitely the one with the most luxurious feel to it and on my skin, it absorbs really quickly and it doesn't cause any irritation, so if you are looking to move to something a little more powerful, this would be a really good place to start.

The Skin Geek Cryo Roller + Mask

I do love a good skincare gadget and The Skin Geek was created by aestitician Nicola, an award-winning facialist and international skincare consultant with over two decades of experience. The Skin Geek line up features a huge array of skincare products and tools from micro-needling rollers and cryo rollers to hydrogel sheet masks and serums.

I was kindly sent a Hydrogel Mask and The Skin Geek Cryo Roller, which is described as being your Sub Zero Hero!  This isn't the first time I have used a Cryo Roller, so I am always keen to try newer ones.

Designed to reduce puffiness, The Skin Geek Cryo Roller also comes with a whole host of other benefits of use which includes

• Reduces puffiness and inflammation
• Smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Soothes redness.
• Firms the skin.

Plus you can also use it for use on the body too, perfect SOS for burns and pain relief but also, if like me you suffer from migraines, it is also a delight to use across your forehead and back of the neck.  The advice whenever you use the Cryo Roller is to use a serum on the skin rather than just applying it directly.

After using, my skin does look a little more flushed than usual but this is nothing to worry about, it is due to the increased blood flow. But the whiole process of using it is very relaxing and therapeutic, especially with a headache.

I keep my Cryo Roller in the freezer in its Skin Geek zipper bag so that whenever I need to use it and the best part is you only need up to 15 minutes of your time to use it. For me, as it is in the freezer, I tend to use it whilst waiting for the kettle to boil and tea to brew, or when I am sat on the sofa, its so handy to use, you can use it anytime. Once you have finished your Cryo session, always wash the roller in warm soapy water and once dry, put it back into the zipper bag and back into the freezer ready for your next usage.

The second products I have is the Hydra Boost Face Mask for hydrating and as with similar masks, this one comes in two parts to fit the upper and lower contours of the face, for me, it also means it moulds better to my face and stays in place.

Infused with powerful humectants such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid, that draw moisture into the skin; anti-inflammatories to soothe the skin and reduce redness; and antioxidants to shield the skin from free radicals.

To use, once you have removed the mask from the pouch, you apply both sections to freshly cleansed but dry skin and then sit back and relax for up to 30 minutes, the mask has been drenched in a serum, so it is quite wet when applied to the skin, but also quite soothing too. It is worth noting that there is also around 10ml of serum that will remain in the pouch to use as a hydrating serum, once you have discarded the mask, or you can use it before you try the Cryo Roller.

Floral Street Almond Blossom

I am a huge fan of Floral Street and every single fragrance that has been released, ive swooned over. The latest scent, Sweet Almond Blossom, had very quickly made it to the top of my favourite scents to wear when I need those uplifting vibes to face a cold, wet, windy day.

If you are unfamiliar with the brand Floral Street, they are a brand built on the streets of London, Floral Street as it happens, and one which is about breaking with tradition. It’s about peeling back the curtain of the secret world of fragrance. It’s about ease, modernity and joy. Each perfume, which can also be refilled and better still, the bottle comes packaged inside a re-usable box and tray - the tray I use to propagate seeds and keep in the greenhouse.

Sweet Almond Blossom is every bit as wonderful as you can imagine, inspired by the white florals from the 1890 Van Gogh's Masterpiece Almond blossom, if that isn't exceptional enough, the nose behind this fragrance is none other than the fragrance master himself, Jérôme Epinette.

The fragrance is placed sitting within the fruity, floral, gourmand family it is described as being a:

Mouth-watering natural pomelo and juicy passionfruit float over clouds of delicate apple blossom. Creamy vanilla, sandalwood, and nutty tonka bean are beautifully balanced with explosions of other-worldly crisp green matcha tea.

The fragrance opens with a wonderful intense scent of Apple Blossom and not far behind it is the pomelo and mandarin, so you get a hit of all three in one go and it is just a delight, not too heavy or cloying, it hands around in the air before it dries down with the notes of  passion fruit, heliotrope and they are balanced by green matcha tea before the rich notes of vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean as base notes settle the scent, all without out doing one another.  For me, the stand out note is the opens that fragrance opens with, they dominate enough as to not let the vanilla become too heady or heavy and it is just a wonderful uplifting scent.

In keeping with tradition, to accompany the fragrance is also sold in a candle form, priced at just £38, and again, as with the fragrance you have that delicate blend of fruity florals infused with creamy vanilla, green matcha and a touch of tonka bean.  

Nestled in the most beautiful team blue jar, the candle has a burn time of 40 hours, depending on how often you have it alight and uses ingredients that are all sustainably sourced.

As a fragrance and something I have found with every scent I have tried from Floral Street, the longevity far outweighs most other fragrances I own, once it has been applied. They are expressive fragrances and they are ones which settle and linger for hours, by hours I mean all day and you can still catch a feel of it the following morning. For me, there is absolutely nothing to dislike about this fragrance. I love that it is a take on the modern Rose theme, by making it more wearable for many people and once you try it, I dare you not to love it!
