Catipilla Cat Cushion

It is fair to say that my two fur kids rule the roost, spoilt, pampered and pretty much doing as they please at all hours as the mister and I run to their every need.  Having just redecorated a big part of our home, I am keen for neither kitty to fall in love with glossed wood and scratch it.  To that end, Catipilla is a wonderful source of advice, help and even better than that, they have some solutions with a great back story to share.

Catipilla Cat Cushion
I was kindly gifted two of the resting point cushions, the amazing thing about these cushions is that they can be used with the Catipilla High Plate, which you can fix to your walls for your kitty to jump up on and watch over you from a high space.  My cats love to get as high as they can around the house - on wardrobes, tops of doors and now the Kallax unit which we recently built. With all that in mind, we opted for the cushion, which we can put in some of these spaces for them to lay in comfort.

The cushion is made from 100% waterproof materials, so it an be placed both indoor and outdoor, depending on where you kitty loves to sleep and lounge and if you do have a kitty how prefers the outdoors, as one of mine does, the material is also UV resistant and won't fade in the sun. There is a hidden zip on one side and usually, Hector would spot it and attempt to open it and so far after a good few weeks of use, he hasn't yet found it! The zip means that the cover can be removed and washed to keep them clean.

As you can see, we have both the black and cream coloured cushions and both cats love both of them, with one getting more of a say than the other as to who uses which. We currently have one cushion on the floor near the Kallax and one on top of it so they can pick and choose.

Every year I am asked if I intend to do a Gift guide for cats and I have one almost finished to share and Catipilla will be featuring because these are such amazing products and they cost just £16 each which is more than half the price of the last cat cushions we had, and these are by far better quality.  I now have my eye on a few more products that I think both boys will absolutely love.

The Pet Empire - District 70 Scratching Furniture Sardine Tin

If you are a regular reader or follow me on Instagram, you will be aware that I am a crazy cat lady and my boys are everything to me. Treated as tiny humans, spoilt and adored, my boys want for absolutely nothing, including cuddles and playtime at 4am if they so wish. When The Pet Empire got in touch to ask if I would like to choose a new toy for them to play with, I was lost for choice and eventually settled on the District70 Scratching Furniture Sardine Tin.
The Pet Empire is no ordinary online pet store, it offers exclusive luxury dog and cat accessories and furniture and they offer some of the most beautiful items I have ever seen. For dogs, there are as many luxuries as there are for cats - luxury dog beds including the most beautiful accessories I have seen.  The website is really well laid out so you can choose what it is you are looking for with items such as Orthopedic beds, toys and even litter trays which are incredibly stylish.  You can also search for items by brand and they include the likes of Kotty, District 70 and Halycon Home to name a few.

Anyone who has a cat for a pet will have undoubtedly purchased a scratching post at some point from their local pet shop and whilst they all come in all shapes and sizes, this one is the best one we have ever owned. Whenever we buy something new for the boys, you can never tell whether or not it is going to be something they are 'in to' for example, on Facebook we saw a lot of videos with cats loving a plush cat bed, thinking mine would also love it, but no, one sniff and it didn't meet their expectations, so it will now be gifted to our local cat charity.

The District70 Scratching Furniture Sardine Tin (€59,00/£52)  is the perfect combination between a shelter and a scratching post. Cat's absolutely love cardboard, as soon as a box appears, no matter the size, they will find a way of fitting in to it and there is something about a box which offers security and the feeling of being safe to cats. Cat's also love scratching things, in part to keep their claws in good condition, to mark their territory and boredom and curiosity also play their part, combine the two things together and you are on to a winner.
As you can see, it proved to be a big hit with Hector who didn't let me finish removing the wrapping before getting himself acquainted with this new Scratching Tin. Made from the recycled corrugated cardboard, this product is also free from odours and toxic adhesives, something to think about when purchasing any toy for your pet is whether or not it safe for them to play with.

This Scratching Sardine Tin is incredibly sturdy and really well made, both of my boys can either sleep on top of it or inside it, though it definitely won't be something they share.
The Pet Empire - District 70 Scratching Furniture Sardine Tin

The Pet Empire - District 70 Scratching Furniture Sardine Tin
I love that it has that unique appearance as looking like a can of sardines, the attention to detail is really impressive. It measures 60 x 30 x 30cm and has an opening on both sides of the product, so it doesn't necessarily need to be flat against any wall.  This product is also available in black if that suits your home aesthetic more than the white option and shipping costs around £5.

I absolutely love this product, not as much as my two boys do, but it is definitely something we would purchase again should the need arise that we have to have two products. For now, my doors are seemingly safe from being scratched to pieces whilst this keeps both of them occupied and active.

Top 5 gifts for Cats this Christmas

One of my most requested posts is always my top 5 gifts for cats. It is no secret that BeautyKingUK and I have three little fur-kids and they usually feature somewhere on the blog, Instagram or on my Instastories asleep. Buying them gifts is something I do a lot, the off toy here and there for Hector, fresh chicken all the time for Dexter and my old man Dude isn't that fussed about much in life until you show him a chew stick!

So this year I have tried to find products that all three of my boys would love to play with, having your cat running around and being playful is a must at any age, even Dude likes a chase with a laser pen.  Which of course brings me to my first item:

The Feline's Laser Chasing Scratch Post - This is the scratch post that satisfies a feline’s instincts to scratch and hunt, while simultaneously fulfilling its owner’s need for entertainment.

The device projects a red laser dot that darts across a floor in unpredictable patterns, inciting even indifferent felines to engage in perpetual play. $79.95

Cat Playhouse - Cats love to play in cardboard boxes, and you won't find cardboard boxes that are more fun than these and let's be honest, they do look awesome.

Hours of entertainment for you and your cat. The hardest part is deciding what your kitty will be - pilot, fireman or tank commander? Priced at just £20 here.

Whack-a-Mouse - With the Whack-a-Mouse cat toy, you and your cat can play together and enjoy hours of fun!

Your cat will keep guessing and pouncing as you randomly poke the corduroy mouse wand through any of the Whack-a-Mouse toy's 9 holes. You'll surprise and captivate your cat over and over with every appearance of the mouse. Priced at £14.99 from Petplanet here.

Mixse Pop Open Mouse Hunt Cat Toy - Now my three need no lessons in how to catch a mouse or to be more precise a rat. We live in London and the saying goes that you are never more than 6feet from one. They give me the heebie jeebies and as soon as I see sight of that tail, I am like Usain Bolt

The Mixse Pop Open Mouse Hunt Cat Toy is my hope that it will stop them actually hunting and they will instead play with this. Designed with a ball and mouse tucked away inside, the nine-holes interactive cat toys increase your cat's curiosity, it will have a lot of fun in pokes at the mouse & ball inside.  This product is described as being 'Great for multiple cat households and is priced under £10 right here.

Willows Catnip Chase Toy - Show any of my cats some Catnip and they go absolutely crazy for it, rolling around, dribbling and they will fight you for whatever it is in.

This Catnip Cat Chaser Toy has been crafted with cats two favourite things in mind, scratching and playing, featuring a centre made of rough, durable sisal, your cat can claw away to their heart's content then chase the balls around for hours plus the Catnip is all natural.  Priced under £20 here.

So this is my list of top 5 gifts for cats this Christmas and mine will of course also be enjoying a Turkey dinner and perhaps even a treat or two.

Do you buy your pets presents for Christmas?

Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box

The Christmas My Purrfect Gift Box landed on the doorstep with a thump a few weeks ago and it is safe to say I had three cats all wondering what was for them inside the box.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
Opening up the box inside there are gifts and treats to remind us all of the festive season.

The first item I pulled out of the box was a knitted beanie, but not just any beanie, it is a pale pink cat ear beanie with sequins and is so soft and smooth to the touch and is incredibly cute.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
It retails for just £13 in here.

The second item is a Cat Shelf Sitter which has been handmade by Rose Cottage Pillows in the USA These adorable cats are in a red snowflake print and are adorned with satin bow, bell and cute button tail.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
Mine sits next to the cat urn I have for Asbo and it is a really lovely touch.  Priced at £15 you can find them and others in this Etsy Store.

I love the cute and quirky card cards which are the third item in the box. They come adorned with pictures of cats with bright green envelopes making them perfect for sending a quick note.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
These cards can be found here in the Bubblecat Etsy Store and are priced at £12.

This Woolen Kitten Charm comes next and it is currently sat on my Christmas Tree but can be used to decorate your handbag, phone or anything with a zipper on.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
Handmade using wool and felt, they retail at £4 and can be found in the Etsy Store InfiniteFluffs.

The final gift for the adults is this absolutely stunning customised 925 sterling silver cat necklace which has a pretty snowflake also on the chain.  I love the delicate detail of the cat and how well it sits when wearing.

You can find this necklace in the gift shop of My Purrfect Gift Box for just £15 and it is a perfect gift for any cat lover.

Included within these boxes are also treats for your furballs and this is where the excitement usually occurs with my three.  The first item out of the box was a felted Gingerbread Man which was heavily scented with catnip and it did cause a bit of a fight until Dude was the eventual winner.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box
Next came a snowflake collar from Cool Cat Collars and it has Silver sparkle snowflakes on an white background and is fitted with a breakaway safety buckle and a bell. Priced at just £6.99 you can find these collars right here.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box

The final item out of the box comes a tub of natural cat food from Meowing Heads. Gone Fishin' as it is named is fish & chicken complete cat food has been gently steamed to keep its delicate fishy flavours locked in. Unsurprisingly it was very popular with my three cats who between then devoured it.
Winter Wonderland with My Purrfect Gift Box

Once again, this is another amazing Purrfect Box and with something for everyone, we have a very happy household. If you like the look of these products, there is a shop to treat yourself or your little ball of fur right here.

If you have never come across this box before then here is a little background as to how and where the idea came from. Kim and Juan Kniveton the founders of My Purrfect Gift Box are dedicated cat lovers, so much so they moved back from the USA to the Isle of Man to set up and run their own idyllic countryside retreat for cats - Boodee Beg Boarding Cattery, something I dream of doing (if I ever win the lottery). With their onsite gift shop not doing as well as they had hoped, Kim and Juan decided to start My Purffect Box and each month they choose to focus on a different cat charity, rescue centre or shelter and highlight the work they do through their social media sites and through information that comes in each box. They then donate 5% of all our profits from that month's box to that chosen charity of the month.

Christmas Presents for Cats

This year so many people have asked me whether or not this post would appear after the one I wrote last year and I thought long and hard about it before deciding yes it would.  I buy presents for my cats just like people buy them for their children and that includes Christmas of course, though I am sure they would just prefer a box and some wrapping paper and maybe a bit of tinsel!

That aside, there are more and more products becoming available for animals at Christmas whether you have a cat, dog, hamster, rabbit or even a goldfish, you will find something suitable for that animal to join in and share the festivities with you.
Gift Guide For Cats
The amazing Cat Cottage - Available on Etsy for £70 this Cat Cottage is handmade from sustainable wood it features a carpeted wood roof, has sisal edging and detailing and is painted in buttermilk colour. Inside cushion included, wadding with cream cotton fleece cover, washable. Pure comfort and luxury!

Happypet Cat Scratcher Cat Tree Activity Centre Scratching Post - Available for £34.95 on Amazon this type of product is a must for cats in my opinion. Cats love to climb and scratch and if they have nothing of their own to do that on, then they are more than willing to use your sofa, door frames and anything else they can get their claws into!

Dreamies - My cats will do anything for this stuff, we jokingly call it kitty crack at home because whatever it is they are doing, as soon as they hear a rustle, everything stops and they come bounding into the kitchen to get their treats.  This tin is currently £4.99 from Petplanet and it contains 5 packets of treats.

Purrfect Arch: Cat Self-Grooming & Massaging Toy - We have this for our three boys and they absolutely love it. Priced at £19.99, though it is usually on offer for half price, the arch is infused with catnip to capture your cats attention and the arch helps the cats to remove loose fur which cuts down on shedding and therefore fur balls from grooming and at the same time, it massages your cat.

There are two subscription boxes which are well worthy of gifting to friends who have cats, love cats or both.  The first is My-Purrfect Box which is designed for the cats and is packed full of toys, treats and food. As a monthly box it comes with a host of subscription options to suit your needs and it is one my three love.  The second is MyPurrfectgiftbox which has been designed for both the cat lover and the cat in mind.  Depending on your subscription choice there is 3-5 full sized items, all of a cat theme nature.

FroliCat™ Chatter™ Automatic Cat Teaser - Keep you kitty amused throughout the day with the Chatter teaser! This automatic teaser toy wobbles and chirps, plus it features a 'Play While You Are Away mode' – purrfect for spontaneous playtimes! Priced at £18.99 it is definitely something my three would play with!

Cat weave scratcher - Again, my three love to have something to scratch and at £3.99 this is an absolute bargain and is something I have repurchased a few times now. Made from cardboard it is safe, durable and recyclable.

Catit Design Senses Play Circuit - An exciting cat toy which can be expanded and varied as you wish. It is a great way to exercise your cat's dexterity and to indulge your pet's natural hunting instincts. This is without question Hectors favourite toy and one he has played with since he was just 8 weeks old and now, a year on, finds it just as entertaining. Priced at just £7.99 it is money well spent.

FroliCat Bolt Laser Cat Toy - Interactive laser pointer for cats, with in-built timer for interactive playing fun with your kitty. This is something Hector would love as he just adores the laser pen I have. He will happily sit and meow at the laser beam as I move it around the room, so this is just a robotic version of said toy. Priced at £18.99 it isn't as cheap as a laser pen which will cost less than £5 but it is fun.

Sound-Mouse Cat Toy - This is a toy I am likely to purchase because it sounds amazing. Inside this cheeky mouse is a sound chip that reacts to the slightest touch, giving out such lifelike squeaks that your cat can't help but give chase. The mouse is attached to an elastic cord; use the rod to play exciting hunting games with your cat and all for just £1.99!

Fleece Blanket - My cats all have their own fleece blankets which I picked up from my local Primark for £3 and they love to sleep on them,

Last month I introduced the amazing Mypurrfectgiftbox to the blog and it is an absolute must for cat lovers, cat loving friends and for your furry friends.

Also included within the box are some treats for my three cats and as soon as the box was opened, Hector immediately noticed there was a few items he would quite like thank you very much!

My Purrfect Gift Box | May Edition
Colourful Fleece Blanket. From Tillypopsuk and it is so soft and so cuddly that I debated not letting any of the cats have it so that I could keep it for myself, but Dexter had other ideas and quickly claimed it for himself.

My Purrfect Gift Box | May Edition

The final item in the box are some cat treats by Pickles. Crunchy Packed Pockets with Smashing Catnip and they contain no artificial colourings or flavours and they are made with real catnip. Sold in stores such as petsathome and priced at 99p, they are just 2 calories and a lovely treat for your furball.

My Purrfect Gift Box | May Edition

Again, what I love about this box is that clearly a lot of thought went into the contents and it is obviously done so with a theme in mind. Boxes start from £15.95 and there is a choice of three boxes to choose from depending on your budget and then you have a further option as to whether you would like a one off box or a subscription.

My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box

Everyone knows I am a crazy cat lady, everyone who buys gifts for the cats usually send gift cards so I can buy them presents.  If you didn't know, I have three cats which regularly feature on my blog and across my social media, so when the opportunity arose to review the My Purrfect Gift Box, it had such an amazing back story that I was delighted to accept.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box

The very first box arrived a few weeks ago and it was designed to reflect the fun and colourful aspects of Spring as well as highlight many handmade items from cat loving artisans across the globe.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
The first item in the box was the one my three heard rattling as I carefully opened the box as to not displace anything and it was a toy for them and they absolutely love playing with it, especially hector.  So it is simply feathers on a long wire with a handle that rattles owing to the bell that is attached.  This is a toy Hector loves to play tug-o-war with and yes he is a cat!

There was also a catnip fish from FreakMEOWt which Dude managed to get hold of and anything that contains catnip, usually has his name written all over it.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box

There was also the inclusion of Green & Wilds cat niblets in plaice flavour.  They are 100% natural and are packed with proteins, oils and vitamins to build and maintain health and to keep teeth strong. Stimulates growth of bone structure and helps provide a beautiful shiny coat as they are rich in Omega 3 and 6. Heart and blood vessels also benefit from the polyunsaturated fatty acids.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
As there was something for the cats, there is a lot more for crazy cat lovers like me:

A print by AmyLyn Birhle which depicts a Siamese cat with its umbrella in a field of flowers and it is such a lovely print that it takes pride of place on my desk at work, but it would make a great gift for a Siamese cat lover.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
A cat printed umbrella and this I absolutely adore.  I am forever looking for an umbrella and now I have one which is so bright and colourful and covered in cats, that everyone will see me before I see them. You can find the umbrella right here.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
Valerie Hart cute and colourful notecards which have a spring theme to them. Again they have a cat theme and they feature a little beige cat in the garden among the flowers with the saying; "We are all in the same garden". I can never find notecards when I need them, so now I have 8 to choose from.

These notecards can be found right here on Etsy.
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
Temporary cat-in-flowers tattoo. I am not one for temporary tattoos, though I do like them, this one is just so pretty and detailed it is hard not to love it and I am actually using it as a bookmark. These tattoos can be found on Etsy right here
My Purrfect Gift Box - Unique cat lover gift box
Finally, the last item in the box is a plantable seeded paper which is shaped like a cat. They have been made from recycled, handmade paper that can be recycled itself in a unique way — by planting it! So now it is planted, I am looking forward to see what it grows! You can find this and other items right here.

What I love about this box is that clearly a lot of thought went into the contents and it is obviously done so with a theme in mind.  Boxes start from £15.95 and there is a choice of three boxes to choose from depending on your budget and then you have a further option as to whether you would like a one off box or a subscription.
