Radiate from within: How Aromatherapy Can Support Your mood

Have you ever experienced the power of scents to transport you to different emotions and uplift your spirits? Aromatherapy, the practice of using essential oils to support well-being, holds incredible potential to positively influence our mood and emotional state. In this blog, we will explore how aromatherapy, with the aid of aromatherapy diffusers and Aluxury’s essential oil blends, can help you radiate from within by supporting your mood. Discover the transformative benefits of aromatic scents and embark on a journey of emotional well-being.

Radiate from within: How Aromatherapy Can Support Your mood

Harnessing the Emotional Power of Aromatherapy

The connection between scents and emotions is profound. When we inhale fragrances, they directly impact the limbic system, the emotional centre of the brain. Essential oils, extracted from plants, possess therapeutic properties that can enhance our mood and well-being. Lavender, known for its calming effects, can alleviate stress and anxiety, while citrus scents like orange and lemon can uplift and energise. By exploring the diverse range of essential oils, you can unlock their mood-enhancing potential.

Supporting Different Mood States

Aromatherapy can effectively support various mood states. For stress relief and relaxation, essential oils such as chamomile and ylang-ylang offer soothing effects. When seeking energy and focus, invigorating scents like peppermint and rosemary can stimulate your mind. To experience upliftment and inspiration, fragrances like bergamot and jasmine can ignite your creativity and infuse joy. By understanding the specific benefits of different essential oils, you can curate your own aromatic journey to support your desired mood.

Incorporating Aromatherapy into Daily Life

Bringing the power of aromatherapy into your daily routine is simpler than you may think. Create a tranquil haven in your living space by using an oil diffuser to disperse your favourite scents throughout your home. Infuse relaxation into your baths and showers by taking your portable diffuser to the bathroom and adding a few drops of calming essential oil scents then switch up the scents when you take it to your workspace to focus. Embrace these practical methods to seamlessly integrate the benefits of aromatherapy into your life.

Bedtime Bliss: Aromatherapy for Restful Sleep

Aromatherapy can play a significant role in promoting restful sleep and relaxation. Essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, and cedarwood possess soothing properties that can help calm the mind and prepare the body for a peaceful night's sleep. Incorporate these scents into your bedtime routine by diffusing them in your bedroom or adding a few drops to a pre-bedtime bath. Experience the power of aromatherapy as it supports a deep and rejuvenating sleep.

Customising Your Aromatherapy Experience

One of the beautiful aspects of aromatherapy is its versatility and personalization. Experiment with different essential oils and blends to discover the scents that resonate most with you. Blend different oils together to create unique aromas that suit your preferences and desired mood. Keep a journal to track your experiences and the effects of specific scents on your mood. This exploration will empower you to curate a truly personalised aromatherapy experience that supports your individual emotional well-being.

Aromatherapy for Mindfulness and Meditation

Aromatherapy can deepen your mindfulness and meditation practices. By incorporating calming scents such as frankincense, sandalwood, or patchouli into your meditation space, you create an environment conducive to relaxation and focus. Inhaling these grounding aromas can help quiet the mind and enhance your connection with the present moment. As you engage in mindfulness or meditation, allow the soothing scents to envelop you, promoting a deeper sense of tranquillity and inner peace.

Aromatherapy as a Self-Care Ritual

Aromatherapy can be a powerful tool for self-care. Creating intentional moments to engage with soothing scents can become a cherished ritual that nurtures your well-being. Whether it's taking a few minutes each day to inhale your favourite essential oil or enjoying a fragrant bath, these acts of self-care can provide a sense of comfort, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Embrace the beauty of aromatherapy as a form of self-love and self-nurturing, allowing yourself to prioritise your emotional well-being.

As you embark on your journey to radiate from within, embrace the captivating world of aromatherapy. With its ability to influence mood and emotions, aromatherapy offers a powerful tool for emotional support and well-being. From relieving stress and promoting relaxation to enhancing focus and inspiring creativity, essential oils have transformative effects on our mood states. By incorporating aromatherapy into your daily life, creating bedtime rituals, utilising portable functions, and customising your experience, you can harness the profound benefits of scents and embark on a path of emotional balance and radiance. Let the enchanting power of aromatherapy guide you towards a vibrant and uplifted state of being.

Father's Day with Aroma Active Laboratories

I am pretty obsessed with Aroma Active Laboratories and have featured them a few times now on my blog with the SOS Forehead Balm and the Sleep Collection, but today it is an introduction to products for Father's Day!
Father's Day with Aroma Active Laboratories
Aroma Active Laboratories is a new brand to Boots and it comes from the lab responsible for Aromatherapy Associates. Anyone who, like me, loves Aromatherapy Associates, this is the brand you need to own absolutely everything of! I am making my way through some of the products the brands has to offer, right now, you can grab 25% off* the bundle I am sharing with you today, which would make an amazing Father's Day gift!

Within this bundle you will find three products which are perfect for that tired, aching and stressed body right now.

First we have the Muscle Recovery Soak (£15), which is heaven in a bottle and I have a full review of it coming next week. Described as being a milky bath soak to help relieve tension and stimulate body and mind, it uses an incredible selection of ingredients known for their amazing aroma and their therapeutic properties. With this soak is an easing blend of essential oils known to warm and stimulate, relieving tension.
  • Turmeric with calming properties to help ease.
  • Rosemary with soothing effects to help ease and recover.
  • Cinnamon to help ease stiffness and stress. It has a comforting effect on the mind to help ease tension.
  • Ginger to invigorate the body.
As you can imagine, this smells just heavenly as soon as it comes into contact with warm water and steam and it is just so relaxing and one of my favourite products from the brand so far that I have tried.

The second product is the Muscle Recovery Balm (£12), again perfect for those tired, aching and stressed limbs, this is a balm which melts onto the skin, cooling as it does and the scent is just so calming and relaxing.  As with the Muscle Recovery Soak, this product also has an incredible selection of ingredients known for their amazing aroma and their therapeutic properties.
  • Turmeric with calming properties to help ease.
  • Rosemary with soothing effects to help ease and recover.
  • Lavender with its soothing, calming and relaxing properties
  • Marjoram - for its effective anti-spasmodic and relaxing properties
What I love about this balm is that I could use it on my tired, aching feet, which after a lot of walking and it is just a wonderful treat.

The final product is the Muscle Cooling Gel (£12). This cooling gel for instant relief and recovery for general stiffness or to soothe tired limbs.  The ingredients used within this gel are the same as those shown above for the Muscle Recovery Balm, only the application is different.

The tube, which is really easy to squeeze, features a metallic roller on one end and because it is cool, it feels a delightful, especially if used when you have one of those surprising yet painful muscle cramps.

Over on the Boots website, as well as in store, Aroma Active Laboratories is offering an amazing 25% off* this collection when bought as bundle and the offer is valid from now until 22nd June!

Temple Spa - Relax and Unwind

When life is incredibly busy and you barely have two minutes for yourself and then one blink and it is already Monday again. Taking time out to relax, even when you have been incredibly busy is really hard, I am naturally a fidget... I sit down after doing some chores and then have itchy feet and get up to do something else, I am one of those people who just has to be busy.
Temple Spa Repose and Breath of Life
Temple Spa has the mantra "Your Body Is A Living Temple. Honour It. Enjoy Your Life and Live It To The Full" and that really is quite something to think about.  As a brand who started over two decades ago right here in the UK, it is quite amazing to see just how many products there are within the collection.  Whether you want something for stress problems, sleep enhancing, detoxing or hydrating there is something for you, as well as looking for products per issue and concern such as redness and sensitivity, oiliness, combination or sensitive to name to just a few. I was lucky enough to meet up with Liz, one of the Co-founders of Temple Spa to talk through some of the products and get a little about their history and learn a little more about what I could be using to help with rest and relaxation.

The first product Liz suggested as Repose which is an Aromatherapy Resting Cream which is said to calm your soul while it moisturises your skin.  Using a blend of hops valerian, chamomile, frankincense, lavender, patchouli, geranium, bitter orange and clary essential oils are all renowned to aid deep relaxation and bring a sense of calm. On the skin, the silky soft texture of the cream glides onto the skin and absorbs and as it does so, the scents of the essential oils come to life and it is just so incredibly hydrating.
Temple Spa Repose Resting Aromatherapy Cream
To use, you simply need to take just half a teaspoon size of Repose, I use the enclosed spatula and rub the cream into my palms and then put my hands to my face and breathe deeply before massaging it onto my face, neck and shoulders. As always with Temple Spa products, the ingredients in the formula have been chosen for their natural ability to help aid a night of restful sleep and for Repose, so alongside Lavender which is known for its calming and soothing properties we have:
  • Frankincense which helps to bring a sense of calm and deepens breathing to induce the feeling of peace, relaxation and satisfaction
  • Chamomile which is known for its soothing and relaxing properties, it has a calming effect and can be used to aid sleep.
  • Hops which is known for their calming benefits, they help to control anxiety and stress and relax your body and mind. They help to aid sleep and insomnia giving you a restful night's sleep.
For me, what Repose does is bring about that relaxation, more so when my mind is racing and I'm mentally going through that to-do list sat on my desk and pre-planning what I need to do tomorrow, rather than just taking 5 minutes and it is the winding down before bedtime that I need to get myself into a routine of doing, not checking my phone, pinning on Pinterest or checking any other social media apps.

The second product, Breath of Life is described as being a beautiful aromatherapy essence that helps to bring clarity and energy when you’re feeling tired and stuffed up.
Temple Spa Breath of Life Inhalation Essence
Breath of Life is one of those products which has a multitude of uses and is the kind of product that you should always have in your stash because you never know when you might need it.  Some of the uses include:
  • A must for those embarking on long journeys or when you are in a confined space
  • The ideal product for those suffering from cold, flu, headaches and hayfever
  • Great when you need to clear your head or just feeling a little out of sorts
  • Those seeking to feel energised
  • As an inhalation treatment to clear the head and nasal passages and eliminate stuffiness
Again, if you are familiar with Temple Spa products, it contains some amazing ingredients and they include the essential oils of eucalyptus and tea tree known for their powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties and together they make a powerful duo at killing bacteria and eucalyptus is also found to be mentally relaxing and can aid those who have trouble sleeping. Then we have Mint, which for me tones down the scent of Tea Tree and adds a coolness to the Essence whilst working to help with congestion.

I use this in two ways currently.  The first is to dab a few drops onto my pillow if I am feeling a little bunged up with a cold, the scent helps with making breathing much easier but if I am feeling really run down, then I put a few drops into a bowl of hot water and allow the steam vapour to linger around my bedroom for around half an hour before I go to sleep. You can also inhale the steam over a bowl of hot water, covering your head with a towel and then breathing in to help clear your head.

So two very different products to help when you are feeling really run down and just need to take time out to relax and unwind and just allow yourself time to slow down.

Have you tried any products from Temple Spa or has anything caught your attention from their incredible range of products?
