The quirky celebrity hobbies that show they’re just like us

Celebrities are idolised in modern society, some for good reason and others not so much. But the façade of someone on a pedestal with the eyes of millions on them can be quite misleading.

Celebrities are still people, after all. People with families, lives and hobbies. Some people are shocked and fascinated to hear what celebrities get up to in their spare time. Some, like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Moss, enjoy online bingo apps while others have more unusual choices. Here are some of our favourites.

Beyoncé and beekeeping

The perfect pastime for someone with the nickname ‘Queen B’. It’s been known for a few years that Beyoncé maintains a colony of around 80,000 bees at her home. She claimed in an interview that she started beekeeping her hives to create natural, organic honey for her daughters who suffer from allergies.

Despite being a global celebrity, who knows, we might see some Queen B jars of honey on the market one day.

Nicole Kidman and skydiving

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman obviously loves an adrenaline rush with one of her favourite activities being skydiving. She admitted to finding it terrifying but said overcoming the fear was utterly exhilarating.

If you’re thinking of doing it yourself, Nicole believes it’s something that every woman should try at least once in their life. “Skydiving is the closest thing to flying”, she said. Will you follow in her footsteps?

Brad Pitt and pottery

Does anyone else think ‘Brad Pitt, the potter’ has a nice ring to it? Maybe he does, too. One of the hobbies Brad started before the pandemic and really picked up during was pottery. With a sculpting studio in his LA home, he’s released sculptures that went on display in 2022.

Pitt even claims to have started somewhat of a pottery bromance with fellow Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio. The Great British Pottery Throw Down is something he’s mentioned in a couple of interviews, further showing his adoration for the pastime.

Tom Hanks and typewriters

Another Hollywood star with a quirky obsession. Tom Hanks is well known for his typewriter collection. He claims to have owned around 250 mechanical typing machines in total – a collection he’s been developing since his late teens. Most of them are said to be in perfect working order.

It’s certainly one of the more wholesome activities. In recent years, he’s even been giving out his collection to small businesses that share his love for these items. Good on you, Tom.
