If you hadn't heard, the cult US beauty brand which is infamous for its lipstick has finally launched here in the UK and I have been lucky enough to try some of the lipsticks that everyone is raving about!
Bite Beauty, is as you might now expect, a cruelty-free and vegan brand, which has been around since it originally launched in 2012, which at the time was just with lipstick. Their entire range, which now includes everything from Mascara and foundation, to whipped blushes and primers and some intriguing sounding lip care can be found at both Boots and Feelunique.
The Power Move Soft Matte Lipsticks, which I have been trying are described as being:
- Vivid colour.
- Instant impact.
- Sensorial textures.
- Wear that won’t let up.
Followed with the statement "BITE never stops innovating to create clean beauty that holds up to the demands of whatever your day throws at you". Hmm now that word clean really does tend to rub people up the wrong way, sometimes for the right reasons if its meaning isn't explained. From Bite Beauty, that word 'Clean' is said to mean "vegan, gluten-free and fuelled by superfoods. When it comes to ingredients, BITE only uses the best of the best in their high-performance formulas" which okay, I get.
The Power Move Soft Matte Lipsticks are priced at £25 each and there is a total of 20 different shades to choose from, if you like your nudes then they have those, want something in between then that box is also ticked and of course if you want those big bold shades and the brightest of reds, then yes they also have those. The three shades I have are Sugar Buns, Chai and Hot Tomato.
Sugar Buns - This is a shade which you would describe as being a muted, medium-dark rose pink with slight warm undertones and of course a matte finish.
It applies to the lips like an absolute dream without tugging and it has that creamy lightweight texture that is talked about a lot, but my advice would be to definitely ensure your lips have been exfoliated before using this shade as it does slightly stick. It has a wear time of around four hours before the need to be re-applied.
Chai - This shade is what I would describe as being a muted, medium-dark red but it has warm undertones and yes, also a matte finish.
To ensure you get that colour pay-off, this is a lipstick that would need to be applied over a few swipes across the lips, which thankfully is incredible comfortable to do without that tugging feeling on the skin. It too had that lightweight feel when it has been applied and the colour lasts for 2-3 hours before it would need to be applied.
Hot Tomato - This is a very vivid medium-dark red with cool blue undertones and a matte finish.
It isn't a shade I feel I can pull off, but a friend of mine who can described it as being semi-opaque and to get that colour build up, 2-3 applications are needed. Comfortable to wear and not at all drying on the lips, it lasts most of the day but would need to be re-applied if you had somewhere to be after an average working day.
The Bite Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick Collection, as you can see come encased in a rubberised plastic charcoal coloured case and I absolutely love the curved tip to the lid of the lipstick. The lipstick bullets themselves look like velvet and as described, they are creamy, non-drying lipsticks which are made with tapioca pearls and mixed with fatty acid waxes, which alongside Cocoa Butter which helps to moisturise and condition the lips to give it that creamy, comfortable wear.
Having been lucky enough to try three of the shades from a collection of 20, I would absolutely try more without a second thought and already have my eye on both Praline and Maple shades! You can find the entire lipstick collection and more from Bite Beauty at Boots and Feelunique.
