As a brand, Tarte is not one I am too familiar with, typing that sounds crazy given it is such a big brand, but other than one highlighter, that is my interaction with them, until now. For the past few months I have been trying the brand new Hydrocealer™ Concealer and the blending sponge which came with it.
Everyone I know has seemingly tried and loved Shape Tape, I can count on one hand how many reviews I have read from people who it turns out, is not a fan of the product. But I haven't read a single one on this Tarte hydrocealer™ concealer. Available in an impressive 36 shades altogether, it is priced at £24 (here*) and I will say it now - I love this concealer.
The new Hydrocealer sounds exactly like what it is - a hydrating concealer, one of the most hydrating that I have used and because it is packed full of amazing ingredients, it is as close to skincare I have come to using such a product.
- marine plants: help reduce appearance of fine lines, while smoothing & softening
- caffeine: helps reduce inflammation & puffiness while smoothing, tightening & brightening
- niacinamide: helps reduce appearance of pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles & dullness
This concealer is Vegan and it does, for me as Tarte claims, provide medium coverage. When using a concealer, I don't like to use something that has too thin a formula, I want to know it is there, I want to know it is doing its job. Designed to cover redness, dark circles and spots, and of course blemishes. For me, it does all of that and I like the coverage, if you want something which gives full coverage, then this isn't a product for you.
This Concealer has what is referred to as proprietary hydroflex technology, what this means is that the formula flexes and moves with your every movement and expression, so it won't settle or crease into smile and laughter lines. It is also oil-free, fragrance-free, sweatproof, and waterproof not to mention lightweight too.
I have one of the lightest shades, given I have a very pale skin tone, I find a lot of concealers look orange on my skin.
It comes in a clear and see-through plastic tube, features a mint green/blue lid, but what I love is the doe-foot applicator which is quite long and then to apply, the little applicator is quite slim and it is easy to either dot or swipe the concealer, depending on where you apply it. For me, the main focus has been on the redness on my cheeks, the dark circles under my eyes and the colour-match is one of the best I have had in a very very long time.
For me, this is an amazing concealer, especially I am not someone who wears a lot of foundation, particularly right now with working from home. I like that it can be used on its own or with my tinted moisturiser, it does an amazing job at concealing my redness and the best part is that it hasn't creased once since I have worn it, definitely not something I am used too!
