Potion Paris Discovery Sample Set

I am a huge fan of fragrance sample sets, I’ve featured a few brand options on my blog before and today it is the turn of Potion Paris. For me, a sample set gives you the chance to try a fragrance in your usual surroundings and settings rather than a busy department store that will always have other scents in the air, which won’t show the fragrance in its own light.

Potion Paris as a brand have taken their fragrances back to its roots, with naturally derived, toxin-free ingredients, a commitment to sustainability and a return, refill and repeat programme - something we will be seeing more of from Brands. The return, refill, repeat programme means that if you return 10 empty 10ml vials, they will be cleaned and sanitised and two 10ml vials of a fragrance of your choosing will be returned to you free. As well as this, there is also the partnership with One Tree Planted, which is the planting one tree for every purchase of one of its Box or Collection Sets. Again, something I hope we see more of from brands!

I was kindly sent The Discovery Sampler Set from Potion Paris a good few weeks ago and I wanted to take the time to try each one of the 7 fragrances out to see which one caught my attention. For reference, this sample set contains 7 vials of 2ml eau de parfum and they are housed beautifully in a box.

The Discovery Sample Set contains the following scents:
  • Addiction – an intense, addictive mix of peony and nutmeg. This is quite a light scent which is not what I was expecting at all, perfect for a late summer warm day.
  • Creation – a warm, rich and woody vanilla and musk scent. This one was missing from my collection and instead I had a duplicate of Deception, which I love.
  • Deception – a rich, white floral fragrance of jasmine and patchouli. My favourite of the bunch and once again, it is all about the Jasmine for me. It is light but warm, floral yet fresh and I just love it.
  • Devotion – a feminine, complex scent of white flower, vanilla and patchouli. I found the vanilla in this one to be just too much, though it does dry down really quickly with the Patchouli keeping it under wraps.
  • Seduction – a warm, strong and reassuring blend of amber, praline and woods. A powdery fragrance which gives a hint of vanilla which works with the praline and the muskiness of the woods.
  • Sensation – a woody sensual blend of precious oud and oriental. I love a good Oud but am picky about it. This is deep and the Oud very much dominating, which I like. Great longevity and with the blend of Amber, it makes for a wonderful scent.
  • Temptation – a seductive, strong rose, peony and wood scent. This is my second favourite scent in the box and I love that it is floral yet musky given the combination of ingredients used.
From these fragrances you really get a differing mix of scents that will suit a variety of different tastes and perhaps encourage you to step out of your comfort zone to try something new and different. For me, this is why I like sets like this and more so when it costs £19.99.
