Lancome Beauty Advent Calendar 2020

The Lancome Beauty Advent Calendar 2020 has just launched into Selfridges and it is quite impressive.

With its bright pink coloured box it opens up to lay flat and inside there is 24 boxes, each one of the days being made to look like little buildings along the Paris skyline and if you have ever been to Paris and seen the Eiffel Tower light show, for me, it is reminiscent of that.

FOREO UFO ACTIVATED MASKS - CALL IT A NIGHT

I am pretty obsessed with my beauty gadgets and one of my favourite brands is Foreo, to the point where I have pretty much every device they have ever released! One of my favourites is the *UFO Mini Smart Mask Treatment which I’ve reviewed here.

The UFO is designed to be used with FOREO’s mini sheet masks, developed exclusively in Korea and combining plant and fruit extracts and botanical oils. The joy of this device is that there is an abundance of masks to choose from, I usually always get the coconut oil ones which I just adore, but you know what they say about change.

These masks are fortified with some really lovely ingredients such as

Von Norten - Eco Conscious Luxury

There is nothing quite like some luxurious products for the bathroom to make that pamper session all the more relaxing and Von Norten definitely are luxurious, stunning and just a little bit different.  I was kindly gifted some products to try and I am sharing them with you today.

Von Norten is a Scandinavian Luxury Brand whose products are made with raw, ethically-sourced and vegan ingredients and are free from toxins such as Alcohol, Parabens, Paraffins and Sulphates. What you get is a brand that puts together products that are passionate about preserving nature for future generations whilst being dedicated to the environment and sustainability but whose products are also pure luxury and a delight to use.

The first product that I couldn't wait to try was the Rose Geranium Foaming Bath and Shower Cream with coconut oil and the first time I got a sniff of the scent it really did wow me. It is fresh, it is not overpowered by coconut, it isn't overly floral either. What you have is all three coming together to create this wonderful, almost Spring scent in a bottle.

I love that you can use this in the bath or shower, by preference, I do much prefer a bath, but I like to have the time to enjoy it and relax in it. So mornings for me are a shower but again, something I want to take my time to enjoy.    On the skin, this product hydrates and nourishes as you might expect it too but it also does linger on the skin and it is hard to just not adore the scent.

Having a luxurious hand wash is a real treat right now, I can't even tell you how many times a day I am washing my hands, but given I do it so frequently, I want to do so with something as wonderful as this.  The Lavender and Bergamot Hand Wash with Argan Oil, Aloe Vera and Honey.

I am a huge fan of the scent of Lavender but it has to be a fresh scent rather than a synthetic one, both smell absolutely different.  With this hand wash it is most definitely fresh and when it comes into contact with the citrus of Bergamot, the two are quite a powerful force.  On the hands, the hand wash is as lightweight as I like, it doesn't make your hands feel greasy and it absorbs quite quickly to leave hind soft, smooth skin.  

What I have found in recent months with using a lot of hand gel that is, for obvious reasons, high in alcohol content, my hands, particularly on my palms, have become quite dry, so I am quite probably using more hand cream than I would usually do and to protect my hands, I want something that will cleanse and clean as well as protect and this one definitely ticks those boxes.

The final part of my package comes in the form of a candle and anyone who knows me will know how much of a fan of candles I am, though I am picky about what sort of candle.

As expected from Von Norten, their scented candles made with vegan and ethical-sourced ingredients from nature and use a delicate and beautiful combination of aromatic freshness. This particular candle screams Autumn with its Cinnamon and Lemon. The scent is like a warm hug and it fills the house so beautifully that it is hard not to grab a chunky blanket and enjoy an afternoon of feel good movies.

Each candle is made with recycled glass and totally free from Paraffin.  With a burn time of around 60 hours, this is a wonderful candle to have.

JO LOVES ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

I am going to hold my hands up and admit that I adore the design of this Calendar from Jo Loves (not to be confused with Jo Malone). Featuring a white and red wreath design with accompanying red bow, it is very very classy looking.

From the brand, Pomelo happens to be a favourite of mine (review here), a fragrance I have purchased at least 3 times now, perhaps I need to try others, but there is something special about its scent. RITUALS THE RITUAL OF JING CALMING RITUAL

Did you know September was self-care month? It is a time to remind us that taking care of ourselves, first and foremost, is not just something we do when we find the time, but it is essential. I am a huge fan of Self-care Sunday, something I picked up on via Instagram a good few months ago and it is something I have managed to stick to for 90% of the time. The Ritual of Jing Body Scrub (125ml) - I adore this scrub as I do all Rituals products, it is gentle on the skin but does an amazing job at removing dead skin cells, dirt and other impurities from the skin, all without being overly abrasive and scratchy. Using ultra-find Bamboo particles, which I prefer to have an exfoliant over sugar and walnut. Again, this scrub is very lightly scented with the same Sacred Lotus and Jujube as the shower gel, so it leave the skin with its floral fragrance.

The Ritual of Dao Candle (290g) - The description of this candle alone is enough to make you want to shut the world out and enjoy it

"Encourage a tranquil, refreshing atmosphere with the cocktail of scents within the candle. Once lit, watch the flame dance joyfully as notes of opulent White Lotus are released, reminding you that challenging times can often lead to hopeful new beginnings".

Using Lotus Flowers which are renowned for blossoming in muddy water, yet still thrives as a symbol of spiritual growth and purity in the Far East. The come the alluring scents of Yi Yi Ren, derived from China and has been favoured in Chinese medicine for centuries, it offers a sweet, smooth aroma works well with the White Lotus. It is beautifully floral without being overly sweet and it lingers for a really long time. To finish it off, this candle is packaged in glass and has a burn time of up to 50 Hours.

The Ritual of Jing Body Cream (70ml) - As the candle is burning, the time to finish off the calming ritual comes with the body cream and at this point, it is time to sit back, take time out and enjoy. 

The cream is, as with the rest of the product within this range, enriched with Jujube Extract, and it works to condition and nourish lacklustre skin to leave it feeling silky-smooth. The addition of the Sacred Lotus, bring with it a really lovely floral fragrance and again, it lingers on the skin with this cream. The cream itself is very rich but absorbs really quickly without leaving a greasy film on the skins surface, intensely nourishing, what I like about the cream is that leaves my skin feeling moisturised and looking hydrated, particular on my shins, which often feel dry to the touch. 

Putting all of these four products together, not only have Rituals given you the opportunity to switch off and enjoy them but it is almost like having a spa treatment at home. A wonderful experience and the products are just delightful.

Beauty Advent Calendars Launching 1st October 2020

It seems as though 1st October is THE DATE for the release of a lot a Beauty Advent Calendars, some are on sale now and some are a few weeks away from launching - I have them all listed here for reference. Of those launching on 1st October (some will sneak out early), there are some incredible choices to be made as to which is the best and here they are:

SpaceNK - I’m not going to lie, this is one exciting advent calendar and it is similar to last year.

Beauty Anthology II will be exclusive to the store and on sale for £195 but the contents are worth just shy of £500 and it goes on sale on 1st October but you can register for a sale alert here.

Jo Malone - Featuring the classing Townhouse design, this Advent Calendar is incredibly beautiful. Inside there are 24 products which include colognes, candles and lotions. Priced at £320, it goes on sale on October 1st for a 2 week preview at Jo Malone before being rolled out to other stockists.

Charlotte Tilbury - The Bejewelled Chest of Beauty Treasures, which as you can see features a Gold design and, well it is just fabulous. Inside it features 12 full-sized and travel size make-up and skincare treats and if you want to know what is inside, then you can see them here.  It is expected that this calendar will sell out on 1st October.

Harrods - This is essentially the Harrods Beauty Hall in an Advent Calendar. If you have never seen the Harrods Beauty Hall, then go because it is just stunning. The calendar has 25 drawers each filled with a beauty surprise and inside, you will find brands such as Augustinus Bader Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Natasha Denona and Huda Beauty.  It will be priced at £250 or see my full review with a sneak preview of all the contents here.

Selfridges - This is another Beauty Hall in a box and is one of my favourites of 2020. It is not only pink but features a beautiful link design with the Selfridges trademark yellow seal on the front. Using a drawer design, each one hosts a product from brands such as Morphe, PIXI, Laura Mercier, NARS and Penhaligon’s, 111Skin and more. John Lewis - Another pink beauty hall in a box styled Advent Calendar and this time it is John Lewis.  Inside, using the very popular drawer design feature, you will find brands such as ByTerry, Bobbi Brown, Lumene, NARS, Neom, Charlotte Tilbury and many more. I have a post featuring all the contents here and this Calendar will go on sale priced at £150 on 1st October, exclusively to My John Lewis members first and then general sale on 6th October.  

Lookfantastic - This Advent Calendar is said to be amazing value for money and admittedly it does look intriguing. With contents that are worth over £450, inside you will find iconic brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, ELEMIS, Rituals, Philip Kingsley and many more. It goes on sale on October 1st and will be priced at £85. A full list of contents can be seen right here.

Acqua di Parma - Back for a second year, this wonderfully yellow Advent Calendar features 25 gifts of which, nine are said to be new 2020 launches. It will be available exclusively at Harrods from 1st October 2020 and is priced at £400.

Origins - Origins invite you to treat yourself to 12 magical days of Origins this cute Nutcracker inspired advent calendar is full of special minis for every occasion. it launches on 1st October here with Origins for £50 and if you want to see the full list of contents, then they are featured in this post.

Latest In Beauty - Known for their beauty box collaborations, the LiB Advent Calendar launches on 1st October and it features 24 products and it’s called ‘Award Winners’ with an ‘instaworthy line-up’.

Opi - I am a huge fan of OPI as a brand and their advent calendar features 25 doors and behind each one you will find a mini 3.5ml nail polish behind. expect shades such as my all time favourite shade Lincoln Park After Dark, Malaga Wine, Let’s Take an Elfie and Tinsel, Tinsel ‘Lil Star. It will be priced at £70 hand if you want to see the full list of contents, they feature in my post here.

September Self-Care Month - What about You?

September is self-care month and it is said to be a time to remind us that taking care of ourselves, first and foremost, is not just something we do when we find the time, but something we should see as being as important as anything else we do - the housework, washing, cooking, cleaning and so on - basically speaking, it is essential.

For me, self-care Sunday is my day, having had the bathroom renovated, I now love spending time in there, locking the door and shutting the world out completely. In it, I grab a book, ensure the bath is full of hot water with either a bath salt, oil, bubbles or a mixture of everything and I am gone for a good hour, more if the water stays warm (can someone please invent a device for this).

Over the past few months, we have all had major changes to our lives, be it working from home, reduced hours, cancelled holidays and not being able to see loved ones and with comes stress, strain and other untold anguish.  At the onset of the lockdown, I decided that as well as working from home, I would use my breaks from work to do something constructive with my time, now I haven't got my work colleagues to stand and chat to over a brew, I needed another way to distract myself for 15 minutes to an hour each time - so DIY it was. The reason I went with DIY is because that list was growing by the minute, small jobs become bigger job is they are left unattended too and that in turn becomes a stress you don't need adding into your life - so I am told. 

Who knew that fixing loose screws, changing fuses in plugs, re-affixing some of solid wood flooring that we have back into place (thanks YouTube) ready for a carpet runner to go over the top and building some flat-pack furniture could be so therapeutic?! Okay, so I built a radiator cover and a Kallax box from Ikea to go in the Kallax Unit we purchased, but I still managed to do it and they are still standing.  

Now I am far from getting to the end of my to-do list.  We have decided the kitchen cabinets need new doors, we need a new fridge, a new bed and the list goes on but it is much shorter than it was.  What I have proven is that by keeping busy and distracted my stress levels have come right down, my blood pressure is bordering normal (for me) and I can now sit back, light a candle and welcome the autumn in full - whilst awaiting the arrival of my new sofas to complete the living room!

bareMinerals 24 DAYS OF CLEAN BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

I’m not too sure how I feel about the title “24 DAYS OF CLEAN BEAUTY” advent calendar but it’s what it is called from bareMinerals.

This is a 24 day clean beauty calendar which is filled with make-up and skincare. Inside you will find 24 mini products which are made up of brand favourites and excitingly some new products too. For 202, bareMinerals has decided to eliminate all unnecessary packaging and so this calendar features a hand-drawn, nature-inspired pattern with no gift wrap needed.

Roccabox - The Capsule 2.0

Roccabox are back with The Capsule 2.0 and it is a fabulous box, one of the best beauty boxes I have seen so far this year in fact and I cannot believe it will be priced at just £25 and yet the contents are worth over £220... the best part? It is on sale soon!.

Inside this box, which features a collection of 7 products, designed to give you some much needed indulgence and self care, you will find some amazing brands which are:

Murad - Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum.  I cannot rave about this product enough, I absolutely it and have a full review here.  

It is suitable for all skin types and tones and it uses three main ingredients, the first is Gold-stabilized Vitamin C which delivers higher antioxidant defense and is highly bioavailable for increased absorption, Glycolic Acid which removes the dulling surface cells to enhance vitamin C delivery before finally Phyto-Luminescent Extract transforms UV into a source of light that radiates directly from the skin.  Worth noting that this is full size and costs £72 to purchase on its own!

Nails Inc - Plant Power Nail Polish.  This is a 100% cruelty free polish which is not only streak free, but also high shine and with a gloss that claims to last for 3 weeks.

The colour which is Mani Meditation is a beautiful pale dusty pink shade. Highly pigmented, it makes for a lovely natural looking manicure or pedicure.  The Plant Power collection is 21 free (free from formaldehyde, acetone, parabens and 18 other ingredients*), vegan, cruelty free and Halal friendly.

The third item out of the box comes from Q+A Skin with the Hyaluronic Acid Facial Serum and it sounds absolutely amazing to use.

Using Hyaluronic Acid to rejuvenate, hydrate and promote healthy skin, Biosaccharide Gum for intense moisturisation and to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and finally Betaine assists in balancing moisture levels and ensures our serum is non-sticky.  Designed to be used on clean skin prior to or instead of moisturising, it can be used both morning and evening.

Next we have the Seacret Spa Dead Sea Bath Salts.  Everyone probably knows how much of a fan of bath salts I am, I'm telling you, they are totally underrated and an absolute must have product in my bathroom.

Bath salts, especially dead sea bath salts have the most amazing ability to relax, calm and de-stress you. Packed full of amazing minerals which exfoliate, cleanse and softens the skin.  If you need any excuse to disappear for 30 minutes and enjoy a soak, this sachet right here will help!

From Dr. Eve Ryouth the next product is the 24k Gold + AntiOxidant hydrating Eye Treatment which are described as being miracle pads for tired eyes.

These treatment Pads are described as having been specially formulated for tired looking skin under the eye area. Containing potent vitamins and antioxidants from natural sources and 24K Gold that is well known for it skin benefits.

From Avant comes the 8 Hour Radiance Renewal Sleeping Mask which is described as being a a nutrient-rich, anti-ageing treatment that works overnight to repair and regenerate.

It uses Shea Butter, Rice Bran and Moringa Oil as its ingredients and together they work to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst delivering firming and tightening properties for a lifted effect. A dose of Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) revitalises damaged skin to reveal a smoother, more refined complexion come morning.

I love home fragrances and I am so chuffed to see Ava May Aromas within this box.  The Single Disc Pillow in the fragrance Black Pomegranate is one you definitely do not fail to notice.

Inspired by Pomegranate Noir from Jo Malone, this scent is described as being a classic and full of character but with a dark side. Daring pink pepper and familiar patchouli combined with warm lily shape a sensual, rich and smoky scent.  It has 8 hours of burning time and smells just delightful. 

The final product in this box is the Wellness Test by Vivoo and essentially it is an at home Urine test but one I am fascinated by.

Described as being a new technology that analyses your urine and provides nutrition and lifestyle advice, unique to your body in just seconds. All you need to do is pee on the stick, wait for it to change colour, take a photo and read the results. Personally I am fascinated enough to give it a try!
