Sunday Riley | Cult Beauty Brand of The Month January 2019

Sunday Riley is a brand I had been wanting to try for absolute ages having read rave reviews and hearing friends talk about just how good the formulas are, then by chance, Glossybox did a Limited Edition Sunday Riley Box which I managed to get my hands on and ever since then, I have used some products I absolutely love.  This month, Cult Beauty has Sunday Riley as their Brand of the Month, so if you haven't tried anything but want too, this would be the perfect opportunity because you get free worldwide shipping!
Sunday Riley | Cult Beauty Brand of The Month January 2019
The first ever Sunday Riley product I used was Ceramic Slip Cleanser and I had the original Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser before it was reformulated (review here) and was kindly gifted the newer version. Now, not only has it been reformulated, but it has also had a bit of a makeover too and looks very flashy! The water-gel cleanser is described as being a cleanser which ‘pulls out’ impurities while ‘pulling in’ clean hydration for smaller-looking pores and a clean, radiant finish.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser
Now reformulated with three types of clay to deeply cleanse without irritating and stripping the skin and they are French green clay, bentonite and white kaolin clay. Added to those we have rice and olive oil esters which are described as being multitasking ingredients which are water-soluble, skin-protecting and antioxidant-rich and they protect the skin from dehydration by bolstering the moisture barrier and strengthening the skin. Gone are the numerous botanical oils that once were present leaving only Neroli Extract which has properties to help calm and balance.  Despite its makeover, for me, what makes Ceramic Slip stand out as a cleanser is its formula, the silky smooth water-gel texture is like nothing ive tried before, it glides onto the skin and its job is to lift grime, absorb impurities, tighten pores and gently exfoliate and it ticks every single one of those boxes without having an overpowering scent and in truth, I prefer it to the original version.

The second product I absolutely love is another cleansing but this time in a balm and it is the Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm. I make no secret of the fact that I just adore cleansing balms and you will find many a review of them on my blog. From Sunday Riley we have a product that screams luxury and a product that many have described as being 'indulgent' and for me, it is just that.
Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquillity Cleansing Balm
Blue Moon is a balm to milk texture and on the skin, it is as soft as it is smooth. I love that it is blue in colour and as it comes into contact with water and changes to a milk formula, it does the job I want it to do. It uses Cocoa Butter which is said the skin's elasticity, a  blend of azulene-rich oils of blue tansy and German chamomile both of which are renowned for their anti-inflammatory, redness-reducing and healing abilities. In addition, there is also the inclusion of Vanilla and Sweet Orange Oil essentials oils which are incredibly relaxing.  You can use Blue Moon for your first cleanse followed by Ceramic Slip as your second cleanse, if like me you are a double cleanse fan and together they might quite the team.

An eye cream or serum is an absolute must for me to have within my skincare routine and Sunday Riley offers a product called AutoCorrect Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream. Said to be packed to the brim with smoothing, reviving and brightening benefits. The one Sunday Riley product I had read nothing about until I tried it and I can honestly say I adore it and have already got a back up ready!

I suffer from bouts of insomnia and have done for many years. I can go to bed when I get tired, fall asleep and then a few hours later, bam, I am wide awake for a few hours. If you follow me on Instagram then you might well have seen my Instagram stories showing the time I am awake and either liking pictures (without using a bot) or procrastinating on Pinterest in an effort to fall back to sleep or keep myself occupied until the alarm goes off.  To that end, I often have dark circles under my eyes and want a product that can help with the de-puffing.  Anyway, AutoCorrect is Formulated with caffeine, horse chestnut and Brazilian ginseng root extract which works to smooth and brighten, as well as watermelon extract, shea and cocoa butter which helps to hydrate, calm and rebalance moisture levels, this potent lotion helps brighten, refresh and smooth out fatigued eyes.  The texture for this cream is not too thick, but I do find one pump is more than enough for both eyes and as advice suggests, use my ring finger to pat it around my eye area.  What I have found is that the cream is that whilst I have few lines to make a comparison as to whether or not it does anything, for me, it is about decreasing that puffiness especially after a bad nights sleep and honestly, this is one of the best creams that I have used for doing just that.

The final product that I absolutely love is the well known Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment. Described as being a multi-purpose treatment which works hard to undo the damage caused by sunlight, acne, pollution and less-than-healthy lifestyle choices, Good Genes is best described as being an exfoliating serum. This is another of Sunday Riley's reformulated products and the major difference is that Lactic Acid has been replaced with glycolic acid as its pore-clogging exfoliator of choice, in order to support a UK and EU restriction put in place by the Scientific Committee of Consumer Safety law which states that finished products must have a pH level greater than 5 (who knew!).
Sunday Riley Good Genes
The role of the Glycolic Acid is for the tiny molecules to penetrate the skin to gently buff away dead cells and minimise the signs of congestion, fine lines and dullness, which, if you live in a congested city like London is quite handy to have. Good Genes also contains Prickly Pear extract which helps to reduce irritation, and Lemongrass extract to brighten and clarify the skin.  As a multipurpose treatment, you can use Good Genes daily to give your complexion a bit of a moisture and radiance boost or it can be applied as a treatment mask to increase circulation and get skin glowing ahead of a special occasion, which is my own personal way of using it, unless my skin feels particularly horrid.

It is worth noting that I have combination skin which is both dry and oily and I have suffered no irritations using Sunday Riley products.  If you didn't know, not only is Sunday the brand founder, she is also the brand formulator, and every Sunday Riley product reflects her personal belief that results should be fast and appreciable – enhancing skin’s quality, correcting imbalance and combatting all signs of ageing, from fine lines to dark spots. When I found this out, I was quite surprised but equally impressed, more so that products are produced in small batches and are scented using flower and plant extracts and oils, instead of artificial fragrances.
