When it comes to using a lipgloss or a lip balm, I would always tend to choose the latter as I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to lipgloss, they are either too sticky, too tacky or are drying, but I do love the finish glossed look, so I am always torn as to whether or not I use one. Lanolips have managed to combine the best of both worlds and have created these Hydrating Lip Luminisers.
Inspired by her DNA scientist father and a childhood spent on a sheep farm, Lanolips’ founder Kirsten Carriol developed Ultra Medical Grade lanolin which is an odourless, colourless and non-sticky ointment that is said to mimic the skin's oil to restore moisture. By creating these Hydrating Lip Luminisers which come in two different tints, you get the best of both worlds with a gloss and a balm combined.
The first shade is Beach Pop and to the lips it adds a lovely flush rose shade to the lips or there is Desert Glow that adds a shimmering true nude.
The texture of these balms is not as thick as I was expecting it to be considering they are a glossy balm, but once applied, there is a slight sticky feeling which soon disappears and it really does give a good pop of colour. What I really love is how hydrating they both are, rather than drying out my lips, instead they act like a lip balm should and are hydrating.
They are perfect for those no makeup days but they also work well with lipsticks or on their own too. Within the formula of each Lip Luminiser, there are golden flecks which add to the shimmer. If you are looking for an alternative to lipgloss, lipbalm and lipstick and want something that sits right in the middle, then these Lip Luminisers from Lanolips are priced at just £13 and are available from Cult Beauty.
