Whenever I write about a beauty product there are always two questions usually asked - is it Organic and is it Cruelty-free, concerns which are becoming more and more apparent for people when purchasing their next moisturiser, lip balm or shower gel.
The Organic Skin Co. was born and happily resides in New Zealand and is the brainchild of Megan Douglas, one-time model, one-time fashion designer, one-time wanderer, now naturopath, entrepreneur, and – alongside her sister-in-law and brand CEO, Lisette Douglas. They believe in their makeup; makeup that’s natural, chock-full of organics, and that actually works. Makeup that looks equally good whether you’re chilling at home, at work, or waltzing down the red carpet. Makeup, ultimately, that celebrates natural beauty in all its forms and that looks after you, thanks to the inclusion of revolutionary, oh-so-good-for-you supercritical extracts.
I was kindly sent two lipsticks from the range and at this point, it is well worth pointing out that as well as makeup of which you can find Primer, Foundation, Pressed Powder, Cream Concealer, Luminizer, Blushes, Cream Eyeshadow, Liquid Liner, Mascara and the chance to create your own eyeshadow palettes. The lipsticks come presented quite differently to how I am used too as it is inspired bamboo and I just love the wooden lid, it really does make the lipstick casing stand out.
I have shades Flame and Galaxy and both are just absolutely stunning.
- Flame is a beautiful warm deep red shade and it is infused with Organic Calendula and Rosemary and on the application, it glides across the lips with little effort imparting an incredible pigment.
- Galaxy screams Autumn and Winter and it is a beautiful deep plum shade which again is enriched with Organic Calendula and Rosemary.
Both of these lipsticks are manufactured free of parabens, nanos, bismuth oxychloride, gluten and talc. Both lipsticks also benefit from the addition of carnauba wax (known as ‘the queen of waxes’) offers the skin protection against external elements and helps make the lipsticks less vulnerable to changes in temperature.
I have swatched these lipsticks in daylight, as gloomy as it is right now and have uploaded without any editing at all. The top shade is Flame and the bottom shade is Galaxy and as you can see, with just one swipe of the bullet onto my wrist, there is a lot of pigment and what I really love about these lipsticks is how long they last. Once applied, I get a good 5-6 hours wear out of them before needing to re-apply and they are incredibly moisturising.
If you are moving towards the more organic side of things with makeup and cosmetics, then The Organic Skincare Co. is more than worth the look.
