Revolution Makeup Lip Treatments

Looking after my lips is as important as looking after any other part of my body. The lips play an important role in life and if you think about what you use them for, making sure they look good and don't have dry bits of skin hanging off them. When Revolution Beauty (formerly Makeup Revolution) announced they had two lip treatments available, I bought them without even debating it.

The Revolution Pro Sugar Lip Scrub (£4) is designed to prep and polish the lips to leave them feeling silky smooth.  My lips go through stages of being dry right where I tend to get cold sores, so I do as much as I can to ensure my lips remain soft and moisturised as best I can.  The Revolution PRO Lip Scrub comes packaged in a twist-up pencil which makes it easy to use because you simply swipe it across the lips as you would do any other lip scrub.

Infused with coconut oil and sugar, the scrub is fairly abrasive and you do need to apply a fair amount of pressure for it to remove dead and dry skin but it does work. As I swipe the crayon across my lip, I then massage the sugar across the stubborn parts using my finger because the nib itself isn't all that sturdy and feels as though it might snap if I apply any pressure.  Then I wipe away any debris using a damp cotton wool pad. Afterwards, my lips feel smoother and softer.

The downside? Well, the list of ingredients doesn't tell a pretty story, namely the inclusion of Parrafin which as we all know is not good for the skin.

The second product is the Revolution Lip Conditioner (£3). Whenever I scrub my lips, I always add a lip balm and one which is as conditioning as possible. Whilst this one cost just £3 I used it a few times and then decided it was not for me. Why? Again, we are back at the ingredients list and up there as the first one is Petroleum. For a good few years now I've moved away from using Petroleum in products as it does nothing for my skin at all and it makes the dryness on my lips worse and it makes them tingle.

Revolution Beauty says this lip conditioner, which is a clear gel, glides over lips effortlessly, locking in moisture, leaving mouths silky-smooth and hydrated. It is also said that this lip conditioner can be worn as a lip balm alone, to prevent lips from cracking and underneath lipstick for comfort, or add over the top of any lip shade for a gloss finish. For me, it just doesn't work and I found it started to irritate my lips where I am prone to cold sores, so as soon as the tingling started, I stopped using it. So for me, I would much rather stick to my Verso lip serum or the ByBi Lip Kit. So for me, this is a sort of on the fence review. I like the Revolution Pro Sugar Lip Scrub and the fact it does remove dead and dry skin, but I'm not impressed with the fact it contains paraffin. I don't like the Lip Conditioner because it did absolutely nothing for my lips but instead irritated the skin where I am prone to cold sores, so I stopped using it immediately.

Have you tried anything new from Revolution Beauty recently that has
impressed you?
