REN Perfect Canvas

I first came across REN Perfect Canvas at a press day and wanted to take it home with me there and then because I was so intrigued by it. Described as being The Ultimate Skin Perfecting Serum, I think it is an exciting launch and one which not only looks after your skin but improves how your makeup performs when applied.
REN Perfect Canvas

REN Perfect Canvas

Perfect Canvas is designed to be applied after your moisturiser and before you begin applying your makeup, but you can if you prefer to, mix a few drops in with your moisturiser. Once applied it is designed to leave the skin smoothed, lifted and naturally filled as well as mattified by removing any excess shine.  It is a clear serum like fluid which is added via the use of a pipette, something I am thankful to see when products like this are in my possession.

When it comes to ingredients, with REN you know you are going to get something a little bit different and a little bit special.  To that end, Perfect Canvas is formulated with Probiotics Extract which are said to influence the speed and quality of the epidural growth, boosts the production of essential proteins and enzymes, improves the skins barrier function and promotes the overall skin health and structure. Add to that the inclusion of Hyluronans which help increase the skins hydration, elasticity and wrinkle depth.

The one thing which stands out to me is that it is silicone free, something I suspect will capture the attention of a lot of people.  One thing I see most often within the blogging world is people wanting products that are silicone free, especially makeup and that is where an ingredient called  Algave Tequilana Extract comes in.  Its job is to provide an instant filling effect and mattify the skin without the use of silicones before finally a-Glucans work to rebalance the homeostasis (that is on-going renewal to you and I) of the skin by promoting the growth of skin-friendly bacteria which optimises skin health.

So with the sciencey and ingredients bit done, how did it fare?  Well admittedly it did smooth and hydrate my skin and when you use a product with Silicone as an ingredient, namely a primer, it does and can feel like you have a sort of film on your skin, with Perfect Canvas you don't get that at all, it feels really natural on your skin.  I am using Too Faced Born This Way Foundation currently (a re-purchase too) and Perfect Canvas didn't effect its usage or longevity, I got a little more wear time than I would do using a silicone based primer and my foundation didn't slip mid-way through the day meaning I needed to re-apply.  I also, but noticed that it did help with blurring especially with the pores on my nose and it did stop the foundation clinging to a dry patch of skin on my cheek much better.  As Autumn draws in, I will need to switch up to a fuller coverage foundation, so I am excited to see how it works with that.

I am a fan of this product. I love how it feels on my skin, I like the lack of a film feel once applied, I like that it is silicone free and I love that it cares for your skin as well as making my makeup perform much better. Perfect Canvas launches on 1st September and is priced at £50 here.

Alpha-H TSV with QVC

Alpha-H is a brand I have come to know and love. I have featured them on my blog many times and I am back again not only to champion how amazing they are as a brand but because I have details of an incredible TSV (Today's Special Value) with QVC and this is not one to miss especially being under £40!! Grab it here!
Alpha-H TSV with QVC
The TSV will feature Alpha-H's brand new Essential Cleansing Balm which will launch exclusively onto QVC during the TSV alongside these amazing products.

Essential Cleansing Balm - A luxurious rose-infused cleansing balm rich in essential fatty acids, for radiant, velvety soft skin. Contains a wealth of essential oils, Sea Buckthorn, Rose Hip and Geranium, to purify the complexion and remove toxins whilst instantly replenishing moisture levels. A 4-in-1 cleanser, toner, makeup remover and soothing balm, it melts away makeup and impurities whilst working to prevent transepidermal water loss.
Alpha-H TSV with QVC
By maintaining the skin’s naturally acidic pH, Essential Cleansing Balm supports and bolsters the skin’s hydrolipidic film. This protective envelope weakens as we age, which makes effective cleansing the very foundation of healthy, more age-resistant skin.

Absolute Eye Complex Supersize 30ml  - A hydrating, skin-perfecting serum specially formulated to use over the entire orbital area to combat dark circles, puffiness, hooded eyelids and fine lines. Whilst the mild flower acids, derived from Hibiscus Petals, gently resurface and repair the delicate eye tissue, skin lifting Peptides firm and reduce swelling, Hyaluronic Acid replaces lost moisture, and light-reflecting particles add luminosity.
Alpha-H TSV with QVC
Ideal for dark circles, shadows, puffiness and pigmentation under the eyes, this refreshing treatment also acts as an eye make-up primer and can even be applied over make-up, during the day, to revitalise and refresh. Gently press the gel around the eye area morning and night.

Lip Perfector Supersize 20ml  - Now there’s a way to prep, prime and plump your lips, whilst also inhibiting these encroaching effects of UV damage and the body’s own intrinsic ageing process.
Alpha-H TSV with QVC
Absolute Lip Perfector is a multi-tasking lip treatment, a combined serum and balm, infused with refreshing Peppermint and Wild Mint. Zinc Oxide reduces irritation and inflammation on dry, chapped lips whilst providing broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection; Honeycomb Extract nourishes, conditions and locks in moisture for softer, fuller lips.

Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF50  - Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 50+ is a broad spectrum, sweat-resistant, water-resistant combination of five high protection filters blended with antioxidant Vitamin E, calming Aloe Vera and pure Cera Alba (extracted from Honeycomb) which helps to lock in moisture and support the skin’s lipid barrier for longer lasting hydration.
Alpha-H TSV with QVC
This breakthrough in daily age prevention is superlight, touch-dry, non-whitening and can be used in conjunction with your existing moisturiser or serum as a weightless top coat for dry, dehydrated skin or worn alone on normal to oily skins. It also provides an effective base for make-up.

So there you have an incredibly TSV coming up on Thursday 31st August and it will be shown throughout the day on QVC at 9am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm and midnight and to grab it online you simply click right here.

Summer Romance: Tips To Should Follow

Today we want to talk about summer flings and romances. According to the international sociological surveys, almost half of adults have flirted or had more intimate contacts during their summer vacations. Only one-third of them cherish the hope of bumping into their true love at some beach bar. Others think of a summer romance as a great way to spend time with pleasure. What should you do to get the most out of your summer affair? There are certain rules to keep in mind.

Be different but be yourself
Your vacation is a perfect occasion to finally let your hair down and do the things you like. If you are fond of museums and theatres, there is no point in suffering in the company of the man who calls it boring. And vice versa. On the other hand, it’s not necessary to run to an extreme. Revealing outfit, such as minis, and bright makeup are possible but optional. If you don’t feel comfortable, it will be difficult for you to enjoy anything including flirting. So, don’t try to impress, but be yourself.

Leave your worries at home
It’s unreasonable to go on a vacation and hope to meet a prince charming if you are depressed and have a baggage of negative thoughts. You should be psychologically ready even for such casual affair. You should decide what will be better for you. Perhaps, you just need to rest and recreate and focus on yourself.

Seduce and allow yourself to be seduced
There are many restrictions and conventions in our everyday life. A lack of time often prevents us from listening to our desires and trying to fulfill them. Take advantage of freedom your vacation gives you. Don’t be afraid of meeting men and taking the initiative if you feel like it.

Don’t be too picky
Of course, you have a set of requirements for your long-term partner. But the advantage of summer romance is that you can have it even with anyone you feel attracted to without thinking about any perspectives. If you used to date serious and successful men, you can meet a local guy who can offer you nothing but his charisma and home-made wine.

Focus on the present
If you meet a guy, don’t picture your future with him immediately and don’t use him to recover from a bad previous relationship. The beauty of a summer romance lies in that you can live in the now without looking back or ahead. It’s easy not to think where it may lead you. Just liberate yourself from expectations and obsessions.

Fulfill your fantasy or dream
A summer romance is not a regular affair. It’s a kind of improved reality otherwise it wouldn’t be considered as a special type of relations. That is why it should be a different experience that you’ll remember or be proud of. Focus on your desires and dreams. Maybe, you want to have a romantic date night with a sea captain on a yacht. Maybe, you are after having a fling with a stranger.

Let it develop gradually
Even though it’s a short romance, it should go through all stages of a regular romance. The first stage is flirting. The second step is a kiss inspired by a beautiful landscape. The first physical contact (touching) will happen when he’ll apply sunscreen on your back. The main question whether to have or not to take things further should be left for you to answer. Remember that spontaneity is the main rule of a summer romance. Relax and go with the current.

Part easily
You should realize that your summer romance has its time limits. You’ll miss that adventure but you need to understand that you will miss not your admirer but the way you felt during your romance. So, keep those memories and draw conclusions but wave goodbye with ease.

Products to help you wind down

It is no secret that I find it hard to settle down and relax, I am a fidget and growing up was constantly accused of having 'ants in my pants'. In fact the only time I am still is when I am asleep, but sometimes that getting to sleep is a problem.
Products to help you wind down
Over the past few months I have been trying to get myself into a routine which involves not spending every waking moment at the computer or on my phone which means no social media at this point and instead doing something else that I enjoy - reading!  For me, reading a book is a joy and something I have loved to do ever since I learnt to read. I use Goodreads to ensure I don't re-read the same books and I like to set myself a yearly challenge to read a certain number of books.  This year my challenge is set at 40 and I have read 15, so I am a little behind my schedule but I have no doubts I will catch up and I like to swap and change between using my Kindle and having an actual paper book in my hands.

Alongside the no social media, phone and computer before bed routine I have an abundance of products which are designed to help you relax and wind down.  There is always the option of a long hot soak, though for me that tends to be a pampering treat once a week where I get an hour or two to myself to facemask, hair mask and just lounge in some bubbles and I prefer not to do that before going to bed.  So instead I am using the following:

Spacemasks are an item which excited me as soon as I saw them. The whole concept is just brilliant. Spacemasks are to all intents and purposes an eye mask that warms and alleviates strain on your eyes. Packaged inside a star patterned foil, once opened the natural air around us activates the cotton mask almost immediately to gently heat it up, once on, you are told you have that relaxing heat for around 15 minutes, though in reality it is more likely to be between 20-25 minutes, at which point the days stresses and tensions have long gone and all you want to do is turn over and fall asleep.
Products to help you wind down
I love how soft and smooth Spacemasks feel when it is on my face over my eyes, not itchy or scratchy in the slightest and thankfully, the earloops helps to keep the mask in place so that you don't have to lay in one spot for what seems like an age, so you lay on your side without it falling off your face. The heat is warm enough so that you know the mask is there, but it isn't hot and won't burn the skin. The relaxing scent of jasmine works wonders for the stress and tension and as well as using mine before bed, they would be perfect for using on a flight or even for a disco nap at your desk to block everyone and everything out.

Alongside my Spacemask comes Mio, a brand I absolutely love for their Liquid Yoga. Since I always have a bottle in the bathroom for times of stress, I was overjoyed to find a Space Spray and a candle in the very same scent in TX Maxx and quickly grabbed them both. The Mio Skincare Liquid Yoga Candle uses the soothing natural essences of Lavender and Mint which together are incredibly relaxing but bring with them a beautiful fresh scent and in the form of a candle, relaxation is by far and away its biggest asset.

Add  to that a few spritzs of the Space Spray which can be used on your pulse points, pillow, yoga mat, in the car or office and it can also help promote natural deep sleep and ease tension that causes headaches.  It uses a whole host of ingredients such as Lavandin, Chamomile, Cypress and Mandarin to help calm, quieten, de-stress and re-balance.  I find it helps to spray in my bedroom around half an hour before going to bed, or getting in to bed and it works wonders.

I would love to know if you have any kind of routine which helps you wind down and relax?

4 fun ways for you to take care of your appearance

People are taking more and more time to look after their appearance. If you like to do the same, it doesn’t mean that you are superficial. Instead, it shows that you value yourself enough to take pride in the way that you look. However, paying attention to your appearance can become rather stressful. It can take a lot out of you to constantly keep up to date with the latest trends and must haves. That is why it is so important for you to find the fun in looking good. Don’t view it as a chore, view it as an opportunity to enjoy yourself and get creative. Below are four fun ways for you to take care of your appearance.

Go on a shopping trip with your friends
Why not consider booking a trip away for you and your closest friends? You could all go on a mammoth shopping spree. You might find that shopping with other people encourages you to try on styles that you wouldn’t usually go for. If you usually visit the shops with a list and a specific set of requirements, why not live a little? Don’t look for anything in particular. Instead just go with your gut. Obviously this isn’t a financially viable option all year round, so why not set aside one weekend each year to have a little splurge?

Have a makeup party
If you just love the creative potential of makeup, you should try arranging a makeup party. Make sure that plenty of people are invited, so that you can pick up as many tips and tricks as possible. Makeup brands such as Avon have employees that will bring along products for you to try. However, if you want to take control, why not source your own makeup and run the party independently? If you take this route, you can also include lots of ideas about how to take care of your skin before and after putting on your makeup, such as using organic rosehip oil.

Enjoy your exercise
For some people, the words “enjoy” and “exercise” should never be placed in the same sentence. However, there are plenty of ways to make keeping fit something that you actually look forward to. For instance, how about taking on the Bingo Wings Challenge, from Gala Bingo, that allows you to make a game out of exercising. This is a fantastic way to make sure that you don’t lose interest. Instead, you’ll get a thrill out of finding out which challenge you have to complete each day – and there are even demonstrations by Sherrie Hewson available online!

Make your own jewellery
Making your own jewellery is a fun, and cost effective, way to invest in your appearance. You’ll be able to create designs that no one else will own. It may take you a little while to get into it, but once you’ve mastered the basics, there will be no stopping you. You can also turn jewellery making into a social activity by inviting round your friends or encouraging your family to get involved. This is a fantastic way to ensure that you can always find the perfect accessory for any outfit. Whatever style, shape, colour, or size, you are looking for, making your own jewellery will solve any problem.

TooFaced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks

There is no denying what a fun brand Too Faced is and when it comes to Melted Lipsticks, they are up there with my favourite products from the brand, in fact I have featured the Melted Matte Lipsticks not too long ago. Now I have the brand new Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks and they are very exciting.

TooFaced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks
TooFaced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks
TooFaced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks
TooFaced have used what is referred to as 'exclusive technology' which makes these liquid lipsticks high shine and the ‘melted latex’ comes from how it creates a honey like texture which then ensures the gloss clings to the lips with this latex shine. Using a doe foot applicator to give  a precise application of intense pigmentation and one which lasts for hours and hours and you guessed it hours!

With a total of 16 shades in the collection, some as amazingly named as Unicorn Tears, I have a total of 7 which I have been playing with and they are:

  • Safe Word - A light Dusky Pink
  • Bite Me - A Deep Brown with red tones
  • Strange Love - A Creamy Chocolate Brown with neutral undertones
  • Love You Long Time - A lovely Barbie-esque Pink
  • Peekaboo - A soft pink nude
  • I'm Bossy - An amazing cool toned red
  • But First Lipstick - A warm toned Pink

TooFaced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks
From Left to right - Peekaboo, Love You Long Time, Safe Word, I'm Bossy, Strange Love,  Bite Me and But First Lipstick
True to their claims, these lipsticks are just incredibly pigmented, crazily so and even when applying to my lips, it glides on so smoothly and with so much colour.  Again, if you have dry lips or any dry skin, my advice would be to ensure you definitely exfoliate beforehand as they do cling slightly. However, once you have applied to your lips, these do not budge, they don't feather and I haven't experienced any blotchy patches.  I absolutely love the packaging that these lipsticks come in. They are easy to carry around in your handbag or makeup bag and they weigh nothing at all, I expected them to be quite weighty, but it is in fact the opposite.

I am just so impressed by these lipsticks, the high shine is incredible, they are comfortable to wear, the range of shades is just brilliant and they don't have a scent to them. These Melted Latex Liquified High Shine lipsticks are priced at £19 each and you can find them both online and in stores such as Debenhams.

Deciem | New Launches

A few weeks ago I finally got to meet (and fangirl) Brandon Truaxe, the founder and let's face it genius behind all the Deciem brands - NIOD, The Ordinary, Hylamide, Inhibitif, Foundatin and so on!  Brandon was in London to showcase some of the new and exciting launches which are coming from Deciem and I was not only lucky enough to hear all about them from the man himself, but I have been able to try them too.

Deciem | New Launches
First are a couple of new NIOD launches. I absolutely love NIOD as a range and have featured it quite a few times on my blog already. The NIOD Survival range comprises of four products, all of which contain an impressive array of skincare-loving ingredients and three of them are also SPFs at ranges 30, 20 and 10. The fourth product is called which Survival O and it has been designed for nighttime use to compliment the daytime formulations.
Deciem | New Launches
Deciem | New Launches
Deciem | New Launches
These have launched already with prices starting at £20 for Survivial 0 going up to £25 for Survival 30 check them out here –link

The other product from NIOD is the Re:Pigment. RePigment is a serum designed to target pigmentation, as the name clearly suggests, but without any of the usual ingredients you might expect to find in such a product (such as Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Licorice, etc).
Deciem | New Launches
Deciem | New Launches
This is the perfect product for using if you have tried something similar but had issues with particular ingredients. It arrives later this month and will be £30.

The Ordinary is possibly one of the Deciem brands that is the most talked about right now given the popularity of the Foundations and the affordability of the skincare. So, what we have is a more budget-friendly vitamin C and it is called The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone.
Deciem | New Launches
Formulated to provide a high level of vitamin C in a stable, water-free suspension, on the skin it feels just absolutely incredible, there is a slight tingling when you use it but nothing that is uncomfortable and it hasn't caused any skin reaction and it makes an incredible base for make up. This product has already launched (here) and it costs just £5.80.

Next is a brand new range, coming in September called ESHO. A collaboration with Dr Esho, there is to be a trio of lip products – Drench which is for hydration; Pause which  is said to prolong the longevity of lip fillers, and finally Sculpt which boosts volume, colour and texture. I have Sculpt which does exactly what it claims to do and I first tried it on my hand, for which I was warned but hey ho, and my skin went slightly red and tingly for  good few minutes.
Deciem | New Launches
On the lips, whilst there was no redness, there was some tingling and a boost of volume, unlike any similar products I have used. When they launch Drench will be £11, Pause will be £27 and Sculpt will be £28.

The product I am loving right now comes from Hylamide and it called Pore Flush. What Pore Flush does is exactly as its name suggests, flush the pores and to do that it brings all the dirt, grime, pollution and any other irritants that sit on and in the skin, to the surface s they can be removed.
Deciem | New Launches
So in essence it is giving your skin a really good clean and if like me you live in a polluted city, then this is a product worth trying.  It launches in a few days time and but will be priced at £15.

There you have it.  Some absolutely incredible new launches from Deciem, a brand which never fails to impress me and one I don't think I will ever tire of.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream

I absolutely love Jurlique as a brand and have featured them quite a few times, infact their Rosewater Balancing Mist is one of my absolute favourite products. New to the brand is the Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream which I have been using for well over a month now and I absolutely love it. Described as being a powerful anti-ageing moisturiser which targets the appearance of fine lines and dull skin to deeply hydrate skin and rejuvenate its youthful glow.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream
The Herbal Recovery Range is all about minimising dullness and protecting the skin from the first visible signs of ageing and with the addition of a day cream, this is quite an extensive range of products and one which is quite exciting.

The Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream features a blend of over 18 botanicals, the star ingredient is called Japanese Cedar Bud extract which is said to help give you a visibly younger-looking complexion. You will also find Lavender, Licorice Root Extract and Rosemary leaf extract to name just a few more ingredients.

What I love about this cream is firstly the scent. As soon as the lid is remove, there is a lovely scent of Rose intermixed with Lavender and the scent is so fresh. On the skin the cream is incredibly luxurious and smooth. To use, you simply warm a pearl sized amount between the fingertips and gently massage onto the face, neck and décolletage, avoiding the eye area, but there is a cream for that within this range (here).  Once on the skin and massaged in, there is no greasy or tackiness to the skin, little sign the cream has been there until you touch your face, then what you find is incredibly soft and smooth skin.

Having used this cream daily, what I have noticed is the difference in hydration. I have combination skin which tends to lean to the oily side but it also means I have dry patches of skin, usually on both cheeks and between my eyebrows, so my skin always needs a little extra TLC and this cream has made a whole lot of difference.  If you are a fan of Jurlique then this is one you definitely need to try.

The cream, which is available now retails for £37.

This product consists of 20% Vitamin C as well as hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, and ferulic acid. While this product is a favourite among many consumers for decreasing the signs of ageing and making skin appear healthier, the smell of the serum can be a bit overpowering. In addition, applying the serum can be a bit tricky as the substance is a thin liquid. The best way to apply is to use a sponge or cotton swab for even application.

TruSkin Naturals Vitamin C-Plus, anti ageing treatment. A favourite among many, this serum offers a milder smell than others listed and therefore is probably the most commonly used. This product offers 20% Vitamin C that comes from sodium ascorbyl phosphate. Because of this, this product is often quite a bit less expensive than competitors. This product is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben free, and organic.

Kleem Organics Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum. This serum has been noted to cause irritation on skin that is not used to using vitamin C. If you have used it before however, this could be a great choice for you as it offers 20% Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, Vitamin E, ferulic acid, aloe vera, and witch hazel, all of which have great impact on healthy skin.

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Broad-range antioxidant. Perhaps one of the most expensive items on our list, this serum is made with a water-base and has been researched for years. This product can offer the rejuvenation of ageing skin and the prevention of many skin problems. The product contains 10% L-ascorbic acid which is considered to be a pure form of Vitamin C. Because of it’s potency, it works very well with only a small amount applied to the skin. While on the expensive side, it can last a very long time and the results are worthwhile.
